Just bought one, used but barely used…. $65 plus a ton of sanding discs… my wife will have hours of freedom from me now 😂 I will be sanding stuff away for months to come with my DIY projects
Great for buffing/polishing with the right attachment, but I think you would find the oscillation to work against you - if you're trying to precisely sand off small rust spots for repair....

definitely using quality sandpaper is important - disc or not - will post something in future on that issue....
