I am seeing this almost a year later, I want to tell you thank you for taking the time to present this to people. I appreciate that you did this, even if I did miss it at the time!
Dear Marc, in this strange "lock down" moment we are more than happy and grateful youtubers like yourself are giving us quality content. Personally, I am using this time to learn about saltwater .... :) I am in Italy and today is day 14 in social distancing, washing hands and staying indoors... dreaming about a saltwater tank is great, but I fear we will have to keep finances tight if things last months and months... Greetings from Italy
Dude I’m working and listening to your old streams. I really love the Saturday streams as I do fish chores. Love the Reef Diary too. It funny like when it’s obvious you had a busy day and are trying to give us a good quick stream :) it’s always good bro, we are probably here for you as much as the “fish stuff”. I signed up for the membership.
3:13:00 - your interaction with Spock great. "SHE SEE'S IT!" The joy & excitement in your voice for that was really enjoyable. I'm a new tang owner and had no idea you could feed bananas. Definitely my favorite part of the stream.
First of all thanks a lot for your videos I love them, but I almost never comment, as I feel there is most often the right things said allready. Reefkeeping fish stores in my area in Norway are still open since everyone in the community are very knowldgeable and caretaking people. We meet in the stores and we cheer eachother and stay our distance and wait for our turn to get what we want. We get the reptile disinfection stuff spraye on our hands as that is the only thing available. We also have zinks for washing in every corner here.. We go our turns one and one between the shelfs and aquariums, and even separate us in stairs and walk one and one between the floors in my favorite shop that has two marvelous floors. We also call before we go to the shops to not crowd them, so we are never more than 5 customers inside even these really big fishstores. I feel like the store owners and their families and employees are taking great care of us and we of them really. At home I am neighbor with my very highrisk for getting killed by the virus mother, and we take every precaution, all of my family have this really strict regimen, a iron ring around our parents and our uncle staying with them these times as he is alone and have no children. We have time for the family now, and we feel we need to have patience my wife and daughter and I. We learned those things we never have problems with eachother normally, small things but now they show. We also spend more time praying together as a family and that is helping us too, to find some cnfidence in our faith, these are the time we need our faith really. I know a lot of people thinks that is crazy, but it helps us, so why not take a chance to see if there is something more on the other side if we can meet someone we love if we should happen to have a greater being controlling it all. Looking at my reef and at me and my lovely daughter I just cant believe that is just being made by chanche, there is something out there, other than us reefers that wanted these creatures to be the most stunning beautiful and fantastic things, and providing them, and let us learn to provide for them so we can enjoy them and please them and give them a great life and propagate even. Maybe one day we reefers are the thing that will save our oceans, I like to think there is a plan to it and these times makes me think that even more. We se catastrophic events come and go ever so often now, more often than ever in history. But the very start of life, its enviroment is in our livingroom now, and we are close to make it automatic and failsafe. I am oldschool though and feel when i feed and dose things every day I am a part of this keeping life in its basic form, its most beautiful form in my life in my home I am part of the great picture. Sorry for wall of text, but I had some time to reflect and I wanted to share,
I had an XHO 50/50 go out on me recently. I knew it wasn’t the driver because I plugged it into another one that I knew worked. I ended up opening the corded end on the strip and found that the cord had wire connections (wirenuts) that had worked themselves loose and fell off inside the strip. Easy fix.
Marc... Fresh water dips in RO water is a good way to get red planaria to release from your frags before introducing into your QT tank or main display. A much safer alternative than "Flat worm Exit".
Hi , Really appreciate your content and have learned a ton. Just a suggestion please run a "compressor" on your audio / voice. The jump in volume at times is crazy!!!! :)
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm hardwired into the computer, but since I move around a bit the audio levels likely jump rather than me sitting in front of a stationary microphone. Sorry about that!
Monterey bay has had online shows for free on there channel so I have been watching their tanks and watching movies, already cleaned the home and now enjoy Xbox w friends
Is it harmful to tank to scrape all the yucky stuff into it? I try to catch it with net usually or take my time and scrape it up to the top and then put in a cup or something!
@melevsreef - Marc, Not only are you very informative but highly entertaining as well. I had a choice of watching you or a Harry Potter movie.. and I chose you.. You should get an Oscar or some kind of entertainment trophy.
I will be ordering several 30 packs of the biodigest in a few months in order to cycle my tanks and stabilize them. I love it and it is becoming hard to find.
Corals have survived previous mass extinctions and there's reasonable hope that they will survive this one... not in a Noah's ark, but in the deep ocean. When, after a long time, they have available habitat again near the surface, they will reclaim their old territories.
you say at 4:48 theres not enough beds for ppl that break out with covid 19.there is plenty, the us have over 1mil beds available at 1 time.everyone in the usa will not get it at the same time .you are adding fuel to the fire.
I disagree, if there are 1 million beds available and 137 million test positive, there are not enough beds. And currently there are 338 million US citizens. By reducing the total amount of people sick at the exact same time, we are helping to assure that enough beds exist to help those in need. This is smart, and hopefully will work as planned.

Well, I picked an interesting time to start this hobby! I don't want to catch a cooty! (Saw you on Monday at Franks :)

I've been watching you and baking bread.
I’ve got the same washing machine as you! 🙂
What bacteria would you recommend to start a reef tank.
hey mel do you think you could send a link or help a reffer out on my setting for my kessil lights not sure what to put them too
I wonder if a tridacna clam or two could replace a filter sock...
They are filter feeders, so they would capture some particulates, but it would take a lot of clams to equal a filter sock.
@@melevsreef OK, thanks for the reply
