I'm kind of new to zomboid, but what I do know is, you'll know how close a zombie is to you if you just listen. USE. YOUR. EARS. It will save you from that game ending back bite if you have good hearing. Or well, just use the keen hearing trait. Playing with headphones, is RECOMMENDED. Blasting the game with speakers doesn't help.
Important correction! For hitting zombies in the head when they're on the ground, where you aim *doesn't* matter. Where you *stand* makes the difference. Make sure the zombie's head is beneath your feet , even when you swing down with the weapon. The on-screen model doesn't represent where the damage is being inflicted properly.
I don't know if this is true with the LONGER weapons, but I can guarantee this is how stomps and short weapons work. Tried it out on about 1K zombies recently.
The point about back attacks is huge. When wearing good armor, you can pretty much just let zombies *attempt* to bite you the front all day, they will almost never get through. From behind though, they’ll get you almost every single time. For this reason, Keen Hearing is one of my favorite perks in the game.
@@WarmRivet lmao same, even with keen hearing. I don’t understand why people torture themselves with the deaf trait. Or even worse, blind. I guess if you’re looking for a scare or an especially difficult challenge, they’re good. I don’t even think the game would be playable using both😂😂
your tip for freezing all your fresh food is so simple and such a good tip. another tip i'd offer is picking up videos. not only do some of them have hilarious subtitles, but the skill videos (with reading the skill book) can boost your skills up ridiculously fast.

Should probably specify that the radio station needed for the helicopter event prediction is the Emergency Radio broadcast and it’s when it says “Air activity incoming” or something along those lines Also, combining a bottle of disinfectant with cotton balls are a great disinfectant
OK I'm shooketh rn, 🤣 9:26 when the radio part comes on has had me dieing laughing for two days now. Like the video was so professional and informative and well put together and out of nowhere! I love this series. This is the type of game I dream of, but never play because I just don't have the patience to learn it. It's still fun to watch these though
A variant of the mow 'em down is the spin to win where you spin your car in reverse into large groups to hit them with the side so you have a wider hit margin
Important for the helicopter event! if you know it's going to happen the next day you can drive pretty far out so that the zombies don't get attracted to your main base. Make sure you have a fast vehicle and an exit strategy though. Alternatively you can just drive around away from your base so the zombies don't get a chance to group into large numbers.
The radio can still do weather forecasts long after the first days on Emergency Broadcast frequency. But the channel is hidden and randomized every world generation. To find out, you will have to find radio that used to belong to the military. Often times they are located in a military installation or a military surplus store.
hi! i really enjoyed this video! it was very interesting and well-produced. i would suggest adding time categories to the video, as it would make it easier for viewers to find the content they are looking for and get the most out of the video. i think this could be a very useful and practical addition. congratulations on the excellent work!
On the server I play in with friends I went and grabber 5 water coolers like 3 days before the water cut off. I've only ever emptied 1 of them, but refill them with boiled rain water. Great for storing clean water, can be moved while full of water; and lets all of your garbage bags be used to make rain collectors that collect rain water rather than just storing it. Only thing better would be a sink hooked up to a rooftop rain collector, but we don't have a sink yet.
I like the tip about rushin to food locations and frezeeing the food. Never thought about this. One thing that i like to do early is to pick a house with a second floor, build some floor through the window and place a Rain collector above a sink. For the car clearing part, it's better to do reverse Donuts as you only damage the sides of the vehicle rather than the engine, maybe it still affects the engine but I usually have cars last longer and they kill a lot more zombies this way
1 of the best video I seen for DETAILED INFORMATION, So many other videos ppl rushing through talking all fast....this game is so detailed almost impossible to sqeeze in great amount of info in 3min
7:05 someone did a test on this and found that it didn't matter where your cursor was or where your weapon hit, but where you were standing. The targets on a downed zombie are legs, chest, and head. If you're standing near their feet you'll target the legs, near the hips you'll hit the chest, near the head and you'll hit the head.
I used the sandbox option but didnt realize it automatically sets the difficulty to apocalypse. So once i decided to try out just plain survivor, i was amazed at the amount of cars in decent condition there were
I remember my first great run of PZ. I had lasted really well. I had a base set up, a bunch of supplies and skills, and then... the FUCKIN heli event. I didn't know it was a thing, so all of a sudden I'm on a looting run being followed by a heli, and every zombie in Kentucky was hellbent on eating my ass. I was swarmed and killed SO fast, and rage-deleted the whole save.
If you have the KEY to a place you can take apart the doors and if you get a doorknob you can craft a lockable gate or door at your base. Extremely handy for multiplayer as you can’t jump a gate so if it’s locked you are bonza
Important correction! Hiding indoors does NOT negate the effects of the helicopter. It merely shortens the duration. Hunkering down in your base is a BAD IDEA. Best case outcome would be that you survive the event, but the horde has transformed the first floor of your base into swiss cheese topped with scrap wood, broken glass, and a sprinkle of door hardware.
You can hunker down if you're inside with all the curtains drawn (or at least 3 planks across the windows and doors) when the event initiates. The one time taking restless sleeper and sleepyhead together was actually great!
Not really. If you have everything closed off and the helicopter never sees you it will not hover above your location. It will zoom around the cell trying to find you, drawing the zombies everywhere. Your scenerio only happens when the helicopter sees you and THEN you go back to your base. If it sees you, get a car and drive until it fucks off. If you stay inside with no visibility into your base it will not know you are there. Yes the zombies in your cell will be a bit stirred up, so be careful on your next loot run, but other than that you are fine.
The field next to rosewood fire station is excellent for a big fight. I usually draw a huge crowd there, set the horde on fire and play keep away until they burn to death. Of course I also prefer using the shotgun to make burning patches of dead zeds so as to set more on fire.
First time playing PZ on multiplayer and survived 20 days and killed around 400 zombies and got attached to my character he had good stats and was a reformed burgler turned cook, i usually looted food and was the cook for a gas station of a group of four on the go, sadly i was taking my truck out and almost died to the towing mechanic in the game. i got out and was trying to clear some zombies because i was confident but i made a mistake and a zombie bit me when i turned around to run and then multiple zombies dragged me to the ground and that was the death of Adam the cook. He saved 2 lifes and ended a crazy drug addict, rest in piece adam. so be really careful and dont make mistakes when killing a small hoard alone, try to get help or take them out by dragging them in smaller groups.
Instead of smashing window, if you are not in rush, and no Z around, try uninstall it, and boost your mechanics skill while aquiring a car. Also you can reinstall the window afterwards
Really enjoyed the video! Learned this one a bit ago but if you have the "Eagle Eyed" Trait you basically have eyes in the back of your head, no more of having them nasty zombos biting on your spine no more! Anyways have a good day and see you when you next upload!
okey i was about to comment 10/10 video although i knew evertything in it, but its perfectly put together so everyone can understand it... and then i listened to the outro song and damn, 12/10 :/
annotated maps can be random on where to find them, it can be found on glove boxes, gasoline stations, and rarely on zombies or in houses be very careful that some of them are traps, like a house full of zombies or house with an alarm
The one about running zombies over with the car is incomplete. 2 pretty important things to know about cars. 1. If a car hits a zombie under 15 kmph, it deals no damage to the car. This holds true until a hidden timer/certain number of zombies are hit and then they start dealing damage even under 15kmph. Thus you should hit a bunch of zombies, run off a short distance, and then back into them again to fully maximize durability. Alternatively, you can run over a few zombies at 15kmph, park over them, and manually kill the rest that arent parked over. It would at least help to split the group into: 1. Parked over 2. Fall over and getting up 3. Still standing 2. If a car hits a zombie without a hood, the zombie deals damage to the tires, not the engine. This is different from hitting solid objects (like a wall) where the damage is done to the engine. Thus the car you should be looking for to ram into zombies would be one with high acceleration (so you can maintain a 15kmph speed without getting bogged down by zombies) as well as having decent engine condition to prevent stalling and high wheel condition to give more life to your tires.
There is a video out there of like 100 tips for zomboid, I honestly feel like I’d just be copying that, but whenever I make a tutorial video, I will always include the tips at the end :)
7:45 this is the biggest thing new players can learn if anyone is looking in the comments for more tips my way of combat is have a house that you only use to split up groups in if you live near houses or buildings the only thing that could happen is if the group you lured in causes an alarm but this can only happen once per window so it can still help when you still live in neighborhoods also when you do this most of them will be inside so kill the ones on the outside until all the ones inside either walk back outside or break out try to sneak to not let the ones inside hear you and good luck with murdering the whole block you live on
Very nice and some pretty decent tips honestly, not the same old thing I've heard a lot of other videos say. If you are meantioning advanced tactics as per the title, I would like to see things on a more technical level, but that's just me. For example the possible shout and whisper aoe. Good stuff, good stuff.
@@WarmRivet Fair fair, I dunno which mechanics have been really went into depth with but there is definitely room to explore there with videos of your making. Keep up the good work and have a lovely week!
My preference is never pick a fight with more than 5, it’s more than often going to lead to distraction and slowly moving away from the area you had scouted as safe, it’s a recipe for zombies to sneak up on you from a corner somewhere (happened many many times). Also I largely ignore disinfectants as you can sterilise rags for free using a pot and hot water (just saved some weight)
Depends on the weapon you rub really. My spear build I can fucking take on so Manny at once it's frankly absurd. (I don't use multi hit. If I did it would be even better probably)
You mention disinfectant, you can ignore disinfecting wounds in the current game state. IF it does something it only slows healing. I have ignored many infections and bandaged wounds with dirty rags. It is all fine, wounds will heal still. Since I learned this I never carry bandages or disinfectant, I will just rip some clothes to stop the bleeding then ignore my wound unless it limits my walking or swing speed.
Important tip for me at least Dont place popsicle fridges if your not using it as 2 will suck up power like a thirsty baby Only place it if you need stuff in freezing but you dont have the space
altho you can get stunlocked to death on solo on multiplayer you can get help from a friend if they have a knife they can backstab those 2 or 3 zombies dragging you down, once the specific zombies die the animation stops
you forgot 2 things when using the car battering ram strategy with janky cars. the first, is too drive in reverse for as much as possible to mitigate as much damage as possible too the engine. reverse donuts do an excellent job of maintaining consistent damage output. the second, is using the V wheel and shift to get out. while holding shift, not only will it allow you to transfer seats faster, it will also prrompt a second option beyond each seat to immediately exit that seats door. which can be critical when exiting a stalled vehicle in an oncoming swarm or hoard. (as one side will usually have a bit of a dead zone, especially if you are doing reverse donuts, the interior most facing, door of the donut usually)
One important thing for that tip with a car: if you really don't need a car, yes, you can use it for zomboids annihilation. But for the best effect, where you can kill a huge horde, you can drive into it, and then press S and D, or S and A. You'll start going backwards in circles, these circles won't be big, they will be around 2 car's length. Some of the zomboids will be struck by the insignificant trunk, and more of them will be struck a lot harder with the hood, and if you have the 'speed demon' trait on you - you will just delete the whole horde in 1-2 minutes. Keep in mind, that you need to have a car with decent engine and hood's condition, otherwise it will break before you end your business. So, the tip was: drive in backwards circles in order to kill more for a less time.
My favorite weapon type is short blunt. Because i have a tactic called disposable weapons. Leveling up maintenance is *painful* I once found 3 metal pipes in one of the rosewood shed and they last a long time. In wooden sheds you can also find some cool hammers just keep one for carpentry and one for combat. you can also find a nightstick on a zombie policeman. Im not even scratching the surface. The short blunt have its upsides and downsides they have lower damage than long blunt which is ok its not that big of a deal but they weigh less which mean that you can carry more stuff. Not alot of people knew this but weapons with lower weight use less stamina which is great. Another thing is the short blunt weapons can be use with one hand only without a nerf crazy right? But you can use this opportunity you can get extra bag on your secondary and carry a ton of loots(do you know equiping an item on your hand make it weigh less) So basically short blunt just say goodbye to worrying that your weapon will break and say hi to extra loot and extra stamina!
I'm very new to the game, and I wanted to ask, how do you mult select itens like you did in the tip of frozen food? Also thx for the tip of the V and Z keys, I always see people opening that menu but didn't know how!
Anytime! Thanks for checking out the video! You can use control click, click and drag, or shift click like you can with everything else on Windows :) if your on mac it’ll be different
Advanced tips to lose zeds: Once you break line of sight, if you are able to sit still for 2 seconds do it. The zombies cheat when you break line of sight and will still track you as if they had line of sight for 2 seconds, then calculate the fastest path to the position you were at the 2 second mark after breaking line of sight, then path towards it. If they cannot re-establish line of sight/don't hear a sound to go after when they are pathing to that position they will re enter idle phase. Another thing to note is the zombies are kinda stupid and if it takes you 15 to walk to your last position not going through anything, but it only takes 6 tiles to get there if they have to bush down a door/window, they will choose the 6 tile path even though it's way longer since they must bust something down first. You can also vault over small fences since it takes them ages to get back up. Large fences can be vaulted since zombies can't climb over them but the odds to calculate if you successfully vault the fence or not depend on endurance, fatigue, player weight, carrying capacity, etc so it might not always work but every attempt loses endurance so if your a low fit/strength/heavy load it's probably best just to path around.
Where's the middle ground between start and stabilising a base? I always feel like, i start the game, get some food and an ok weapon, but i always end in this cycle of checking houses and finding nothing. And when i tried to get close to the fire department there was so much zombies that was literally impossible doing anything. This is a crazy good video btw, that tip on boiling water for sterilized bandages on the first video saved my character some times.
If I can’t clear an area I need, I always just camp out nearby and slowly pull away manageable groups, and if even that can’t work, a good old drive by with a horn will work 😂
Funny how I've never survived more than a few days, with a max of like 800 kills, and I've only lived twice to have helicopter event which made me very curious as to what it was. Weirdly enough the event posed no danger to me. I found it quite easy to not get washed away in the rivers of zombies.
Weather radio broadcast doesn't stop. Or well, on vanilla world fourth months character, I can still daily get to know about the weather on the radio. Apocalypse settings.
cant find a sledgehammer anywhere, and have searched several large warehouses, are there any areas that sledgehammers are more likely to spawn in? I heard someone say construction sites are most likely but I dont know if thats true

Important note for breaking into locked cars: make sure you break the glass with a weapon equipped. If you don't, your character will bash it in with their elbow and likely come away with a deep bound that will take lots of medical supplies and time to get healed up!

The field next to rosewood fire station is excellent for a big fight. I usually draw a huge crowd there, set the horde on fire and play keep away until they burn to death. Of course I also prefer using the shotgun to make burning patches of dead zeds so as to set more on fire.
This is a seriously great video. Learned a ton of stuff. Thank you mate.
Glad to hear it! 💜
Amazing quality and tips for a channel of this size! Keep it up!
Thank you! Happy new years 🎉
@@WarmRivet Thanks! You too!

Glad to hear it legend 💜
ey thanks man!, just started this game, and you taught me alot!
Glad I could help my friend!
i have 500+ hours and never knew that stomping on zombies damages your footwear! Great content my friend 💯
Why thank you Terry!
@@WarmRivet hell yeah man
First time playing PZ on multiplayer and survived 20 days and killed around 400 zombies and got attached to my character he had good stats and was a reformed burgler turned cook, i usually looted food and was the cook for a gas station of a group of four on the go, sadly i was taking my truck out and almost died to the towing mechanic in the game. i got out and was trying to clear some zombies because i was confident but i made a mistake and a zombie bit me when i turned around to run and then multiple zombies dragged me to the ground and that was the death of Adam the cook. He saved 2 lifes and ended a crazy drug addict, rest in piece adam. so be really careful and dont make mistakes when killing a small hoard alone, try to get help or take them out by dragging them in smaller groups.
just got this game. this is extremely helpful thank you!
Most welcome! Have loads of fun 😎
Instead of smashing window, if you are not in rush, and no Z around, try uninstall it, and boost your mechanics skill while aquiring a car. Also you can reinstall the window afterwards
this is a huge pro tip!
Really enjoyed the video! Learned this one a bit ago but if you have the "Eagle Eyed" Trait you basically have eyes in the back of your head, no more of having them nasty zombos biting on your spine no more! Anyways have a good day and see you when you next upload!
The more you know 😂
Eagle why I call that trait lol keen hearing is the one for me
always nice to see these tips even after playing for a while
great video!
Thank you! I always watch tutorial vids even after 500 hours lmao
I'm about to start my first play. I enjoy your videos and play style. Thanks for the tips.
Anytime, get slayin those Zeds B)
Lol! Survived the first month. I walked of the spawn house & promptly got eaten. The panic is real.
Good video again watched it high af also Cauldrone riverside is a chad spot
I forgot how cool this game is.
okey i was about to comment 10/10 video although i knew evertything in it, but its perfectly put together so everyone can understand it... and then i listened to the outro song and damn, 12/10 :/
Thanks legend 💜
thank you, nightshift !!!! this really helped👍
Anytime legend 💜
annotated maps can be random on where to find them, it can be found on glove boxes, gasoline stations, and rarely on zombies or in houses
be very careful that some of them are traps, like a house full of zombies or house with an alarm
Noted! I never really use them if I’m honest 😂
@@WarmRivet yeah but we always horde em for some reason. Like I got 20 of em in my book case
Still standing
2. If a car hits a zombie without a hood, the zombie deals damage to the tires, not the engine. This is different from hitting solid objects (like a wall) where the damage is done to the engine. Thus the car you should be looking for to ram into zombies would be one with high acceleration (so you can maintain a 15kmph speed without getting bogged down by zombies) as well as having decent engine condition to prevent stalling and high wheel condition to give more life to your tires.
really appreciate this video, thank you so much! You should make a video of just helpful tips! The last ten tips were great to know!
Thanks heaps!
I wanted to keep the video to 10 minutes but cram as much info as I could. :)
@@WarmRivet Fair fair, I dunno which mechanics have been really went into depth with but there is definitely room to explore there with videos of your making. Keep up the good work and have a lovely week!
When the zombie game is so immersive and realistic that the fictional tips in the videogame world sound like tips you’d want to use in real lifr
Yeah these are for real life too for when the apocalypse comes ;)
Car technique for kills, Spinning one way backwards and here y’a go you have a car mower
Awesome content dude!
Thanks legend!
Rosewood firehouse is my favorite base so far, looking to trying others though
Use the online map and have a scout around, plenty of cool bases!
Good stuff bro, you have a very nice way of explaining things :)
Why thank you! I really appreciate it 💜
engineer main: dies before even making a bomb
Engineer certainly needs some love hey
Thank you for explaining it so well dude you are so awesome
Happy to help!
Important tip for me at least
Dont place popsicle fridges if your not using it as 2 will suck up power like a thirsty baby
Only place it if you need stuff in freezing but you dont have the space
altho you can get stunlocked to death on solo on multiplayer you can get help from a friend if they have a knife they can backstab those 2 or 3 zombies dragging you down, once the specific zombies die the animation stops
Didnt know this one!
you forgot 2 things when using the car battering ram strategy with janky cars. the first, is too drive in reverse for as much as possible to mitigate as much damage as possible too the engine. reverse donuts do an excellent job of maintaining consistent damage output. the second, is using the V wheel and shift to get out. while holding shift, not only will it allow you to transfer seats faster, it will also prrompt a second option beyond each seat to immediately exit that seats door. which can be critical when exiting a stalled vehicle in an oncoming swarm or hoard.
Very underrated channel.
Why thank you Mysterious Stranger.. B)
great content, look forward to more !
Thanks for checking out both videos, means the world to me 💜
wow gr8 vid. thankyou so much for all this information.

My favorite weapon type is short blunt.
Because i have a tactic called disposable weapons.
Leveling up maintenance is *painful*
I once found 3 metal pipes in one of the rosewood shed and they last a long time.
But you can use this opportunity you can get extra bag on your secondary and carry a ton of loots(do you know equiping an item on your hand make it weigh less)
So basically short blunt just say goodbye to worrying that your weapon will break and say hi to extra loot and extra stamina!
Thank you so much man.. Love the video.
Anytime 💜
I'm very new to the game, and I wanted to ask, how do you mult select itens like you did in the tip of frozen food? Also thx for the tip of the V and Z keys, I always see people opening that menu but didn't know how!
Anytime! Thanks for checking out the video!
You can use control click, click and drag, or shift click like you can with everything else on Windows :) if your on mac it’ll be different
Advanced tips to lose zeds:
Once you break line of sight, if you are able to sit still for 2 seconds do it.
You've got another sub. Another great video. Time for me to lower my deaths per day ratio now 😁
Why thank you legend, may your next character survive forever B)
@@WarmRivet yeah we all know that wont happen 😂. But at least I will try to give it more time to enjoy that precious life in Knox Country.
THANK YOU THIS IS SO HELPFULL!
Glad it helped!
If I can’t clear an area I need, I always just camp out nearby and slowly pull away manageable groups, and if even that can’t work, a good old drive by with a horn will work 😂
If you can't take the fire station take the gas station instead also a good base spot. In rosewood mind you other area have other good base spots
Thanks so much for more great info, and especially the combats tips as I know this will be my weakest point in the game once I can get it lol
Enjoy the process of dying, and starting over, it’s the best part 😎
@@WarmRivet haha I imagine it's going to happen many many times lol
you'll learn from every death, so its always a good time
Funny how I've never survived more than a few days, with a max of like 800 kills, and I've only lived twice to have helicopter event which made me very curious as to what it was.
They are just rare, I’ve found em in survivor houses, peoples garages, on car events, it’s just luck 😂
Very helpful and advising video! I play every now and again, so I am glad I found a nice and short video about tips and tactics for the game. Thank you so much!
You’re most welcome! Thanks for the kind words! 💜
one handed melee, like hammer, will save your stamina
Important note for breaking into locked cars: make sure you break the glass with a weapon equipped. If you don't, your character will bash it in with their elbow and likely come away with a deep bound that will take lots of medical supplies and time to get healed up!
I honestly left that out on purpose, so people can do it once and learn themselves, cant spoil all the magic of the game ;)
@@WarmRivet Not that I know from experience or anything 😭😭
Thanks for the refreshing content
