My daughter had a girl named Bernice on her softball team for 3 years starting in 1st grade. It took everything in her smartass little head not to yell "GODDAMMIT BERNICE!!!" every time that poor kid messed up a throw or struck out. Her dad (rightfully) asked us why me and her looked like we were trying not to laugh every time his daughter messed up. When my daughter whispered the reason, he started laughing like a hyena. Showed her the movie that night, and she thought it was hysterical too. Our girls are now 13 and best friends btw. She's literally "GD Bernice" on my daughter's contact list.

I think one of the funniest things about this movie is that Christine Taylor (Kate) is married to Ben Stiller in real life. Yet she gets to act disgusted by him the entire movie 😅😂
Yea I love that dynamic in stuff. Like on Sunny with Charlie/Waitress or Mac/Dee. Just them going off on each other, A. you know they have a great relationship because they can laugh at making fun of each other, but also B. because you know they are gonna have the deepest digs joke wise lmaooo.
I've had a crush on Christine for basically my entire adulthood. Even liked her bald in The Craft and on Friends ("The moonlight bouncing off her head" beach scene.😂😂😂).
Me'Shell suddenly appearing on his Vespa is my absolute favorite moment amongst many favorite moments in this movie!

At the beginning of the movie, in the globo gym commercial, I think you can see The Swede from Heartbreak Ridge working out. He calls him Rory.
6:40 he said, "suffocated kumquat, perhaps?" A kumquat is a type of citrus fruit, that looks like an olive-sized orange. And White did knock the waitress with the tray of food on purpose.
It makes it even funnier that the lawyer is Ben Stillers wife in RL 😅😂😂
Two of my favorite guest stars on Friends. She hated him in this, but at least she showed Simple Jack some love.
That always made their scenes so much funnier 😂

The funniest part about this movie for me, is the Lance Armstrong cameo. The dude was stripped of his titles and banned from cycling for using steroids lol

It's like that South Park episode where Jimmy was using steroids, got caught & admitted the truth while actual athletes who've allegedly used the stuff are in the background lol
CLASSIC movie here for me. This shit came out the summer before Senior year in HS. Damn near the entire class went out and saw this shit in theaters lol still quote it to this day

Believe it or not, Dodgeball IS a legitimate sport.
When I was a kid, we played it in school... we tried playing it in the alley behind my house, but our alley was on a bit of a hill... so anytime the ball got passed the "lowest person" the ball was pretty much gone. So, we adapted by playing with, and I kid you not, Frisbees. If you think a red rubber ball hurt when it smacked you in the face, try taking the blunt edge of a Frisbee between the eyes.
But hey, it was the 1970s, and we were pretty unsupervised back then.

The "ugly" woman's actress Missi Pyle is fine as hell in real life btw. Guest starred on TAHM and used to be in a band called Smith and Pyle with her BFF Shawnee Smith aka Amanda from the Saw franchise.

The actress who plays Fran in this movie is actually a real life model who intentionally played an ugly role for this film. She also is a country singer, to boot.
And her singing partner is "scream queen" Shawnee Smith (Meg from The Blob, Amanda from Saw etc)
I was trying to remember what other movie I definitely remembered her from and it came to me at the end, Galaxy Quest. After confirming that, she has also appeared in quite a few things, her name is Missi Pyle.
The one guy at the end that said this is the championships is William Shatner.
All of those "bodyguards" were guys from the show American Gladiators

Right of Manhood during the 70's and early 80' in high school gym class. We played it every month of May as a tribute to the last month of the school year because the gym teachers just wanted to bust a gut watching the kids kill each other. I only got blind-sided once by a friend. I had two balls and he said, hey give me one. And the next thing I knew I was seeing stars!!!
I obliterated my friend's nuts in the 7th grade. Poor kid was literally peeing blood in the locker room afterwards. He got the nickname "Gangsta" after that (as in bloods and crips) 😂😂😂
I hope you give *The Secret Life of Walter Mitty* a chance. Ben Stiller directed and stars, and imho its an underrated masterpiece. I saw it in the theater, and literally EVERYONE walked out with a smile on their face after it's amazing ending. Great "date" movie for sure my friend.

You should try to watch Heavyweights with Ben Stiller. He plays a sadistic fat camp counselor. I haven't seen it in years, but it's hilarious.

love this movie! I was actually on a dodgeball team and played in some tournaments in the early 2000s when this movie came out. It was great...our team name was The Sitting Ducks. The only thing that annoys me about this movie is that there are actually official dodgeballs...rubber-coated balls that are foam on the inside. They're not these gawd-awful rubber things from elementary school. But the movie wouldn't be the same without those sound effects.
This is such a great film . Definitely in my top 50

Yeah that statue of the naked men wrestling dates back to the Greeks/Romans. They had “gymnasiums” where men would gather to learn, train, compete even simply just live there nude. The word gymnasium comes from the Greek word “Gymnos” meaning nude. So yes. They would compete nude during the “Olympics”

when this came out some friends and I were playing in an adult dodgeball league, this became an instant classic for us. The rules are different though.. hits above the neck are illegal and a catch just results in the other player being out. It was fun but eventually it wrecked my elbow throwing a ball that light over and over.
