    Thank you for all your explanations, I used a very similar process in the last couple of years for my headlights. I was searching for different methods for added longevity (as I get about 1yr to 1.5 yrs before UV oxidation starts showing again) but it is clear that these alternative methods, like using 2K spray or wrapping the headlights don't work equally well in the long run, cos they can cause damage.

    Thank you for the video,230 to start is smart,I normally do head lights either out removing them,and usually all by hand I start with 400 then refine…usually ford and dodge are the hardest to remove old clear on my experience so sometimes I go down to 220 grit to start,the reason I come here is I’m doing a Porsche 911 and I don’t want surprises,my have cross feet/checking on the old clear coat I hope I can remove that.

    I just realized my drill have a maximum power of 500rpm, I had some impressive results and also had some bad results like hazy headlights and still scratched even after all the steps. I`ve seen you saying a lot of times about people using drills with more power than 1800rpm, but never saw you saying something about low rpms, I could do the "demolition" step with my drill, but the problem is after that, still scratched and hazy after the job done

      @theheadlightrestorationpro  9 месяцев назад

      Well under RPM is an issue as well... It could lead to over sanding which leads to scratching and things like that but that is more of a rare issue... Far as the hazy or not as clear under RPM can also lead to less clarity due to less heat being introduced...
      I would advise you watch these videos they would probably explain and help you with this issue...

    Hi HRPro. Just wanna say thanks for the vids. Performed your steps on my VERY neglected 2001 Toyota Tundra headlights. It was so bad that you cannot even see the reflectors/bulb with all the yellowing surface. Your system definitely works and got it somewhat cleared, it just now has a slight haze. I used a cheap Vibrite 32 pcs sanding kit on AMZ, so the sanding disks were poor quality. I think I should have bought the 3M kit instead. Also used Meguires Ultimate compound then Meguires Headlight polish, post 3000 grit. Its a lot better, but not a pro so... Thanks so much again for sharing your process.

    I use a wheel paint kit from Superior Restorations and I love it (especially the black chrome).
    I see that they have on their site a 11.5 oz aerosol headlight lens clear coat.
    The shipping costs are crazy and they don't mention how long it last.
    Was wondering if you tried it?

    Hi just goin through all the videos by the day 😂 great videos and help, just wondering would a uv lamp be fine instead of the blower fan you use on the uv coat, also have you tried any glasweld or delta products?

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  9 месяцев назад

      Never have used those products as far as I know... Check this video out just dropped spaces on the fan drying... I never you be dry fierce would start aspects of the headlight coating by speeding it up too much and also reaction to heat... Check this video out just came out..ruclips.net/video/o622VZRW2cg/видео.html

    I found out that the Mcguire headlight clear coat doesn't hold up to the turtle wax bug and tar remover. Is there a specific amount of time that the coating has to dry before applying any cleaning solutions to it?

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro

      If you take care of them and don't overuse them or use them with too little liquid you're talking maybe 5 vehicles.....

    What kind of result would you get if started with P500?

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  10 месяцев назад +2

      Pretty much the same result.... I just skipped a step the end result would be the same but the issue with it is why I started is because it was unnecessary not only that it's winter 500 there's more work to be done after it more clean up scratch remove from the p500... So saved time and save and a lot of unnecessary clean up..

    @theheadlightrestorationpro , another outstanding job! Doing headlights in cold rainy weather is it it best to use a ceramic coating or use the clear coat but making sure it’s hot?

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  10 месяцев назад +1

      Always clear coat sprayed...just make sure it's dry... at least when you spray.
      Warning up is good..

    • @simplyclear5802
      @simplyclear5802 10 месяцев назад +2

      What is the difference between the slow hardening clear coat vs the fast coach ?

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  10 месяцев назад

      @simplyclear5802 fast is always better first of all .. no one wants slow drying anything but totally would make no sense the faster the better.. will you paint a car do they want to make it last long time for it to dry....?
      When you paint anything do you want it to last forever while dry as fast as possible the faster the better....
      Especially if you're dealing with a mobile service... Especially if you deal with headlines and don't have a painting booth... Or even if you have a pain booth... Even with painting clear coat of vehicles you don't want adulterate and for objects which float in the air to embed itself into the surface of the finished product this is why everybody speeds up the drying process or once something that dries fast...
      First the most important it stops the ability foreign debris embedding themselves in the clear coat... Especially when clear are painting a clear substance the longer your product takes to dry the worse your product is and shouldn't be used on headlights....(especially as a mobile service)
      But at the same time you do not want to force a substance to dry faster than it should too much...
      This is why I advise against anything that needs a heat lamp or heating.... The interferes with the natural process of the product..

      No never do that no matter what the product says... You don't want to put anything on there that is too fixed..

    I noticed on this video that you hand sanded with a P500. The last two of my restores were really bad that I also hand sanded with both the 500 and 800 after using the drill. I was shocked how well that they came out....sure it took more time for me but the end results were fantastic. I did use more sandpaper but I left satisfied and proud of the end results
