I didn't know you had some health issues. I hope your issues are behind you! Glad you are back!
did the 3d headlight restore presented better results than the chemical guys headlight restore? why? cheers
Man you can’t be leaving us like that again😭.
I just recently came across the ryobi 18v right angle die grinder, which I thought might be an alternative to your AC Delco polisher. The main thing that concerns me is the ryobi die grinders lowest setting is 10,000 rpm and highest is 22,000 rpm. And I don't really want to burn/melt the headlight or even prematurely disintegrate the polishing pad.
What are your thoughts on using a polisher at 10,000 rpm?
Why not use a Spraymax 1k clear? Looking to make this a bit of a side hustle as I work full time as a paint prepper at a body shop. Loving your videos as they have been super useful. Thanks alot!
Headlight pro, truly amazing, I just keep watching and learning, thank you so much for the videos. I did my first restoration this weekend, came out pretty good but not like yours. But practice will make perfect.
In my humble opinion you provide the best headlight restorations on RUclips. Question, at what rpm do you run the AC Delco 12V polisher?
I been doing your method and every time I do they come out amazing. Customer is always 100% happy . But after I coated it with the ceramic spray sometimes I do notice very fine scratches still in the headlight. Am I doing something wrong . Any tips . They are very fine scratches I don’t know if it’s from the sanding just a little confused I would like to get them pitch perfect like yours .
Welcome back. Quick question, can a plastic ceramic coating be used in place or in addition to the Meguiars UV protection spray, once the sanding and polishing steps have been completed?
How much did you charge for this vehicle? I noticed you edited that part out when that guy asked you.
Welcome back! Do you move your head away or use a mask when you use the air blower? If you breath in those micro plastics it might not be good.
During the polishing phase with the AC/Delco, are you running it on the High or Low speed setting?
Thanks for another great video!
I have also been waiting for the touch down of the legend, he finally touched down, thank u for another K.O. demonstration.
I have 2 questions:
1. I have distributed my flyers on parking lots, 300 flyers, only 2 people contacted me for quotation. And I told them it depends on the size of the light they mist send me pics n 10-15sec video, only 1 replied, n never gave me a chance to prove what I can do.
I did restoration on my 3 cars, every week I post before n after pics n the flyer on tiktok, Facebook, whatsapp, no one is contacting me for a quote, what am I doing wrong. Please help, advice etc, I stay in South Africa capetown, lot of cars have faded headlights bit can't get clients
2. What is your view on using ceramic coating n presta UV crème wax, as an aftercare .
U have to keep putting out ur flyers or business cards everyday. The hustle doesn’t stop. U have to keep approaching people and offer your service. Keep talking to friends family and strangers if they need headlights or know someone who does headlights. People want a price not to send videos or pictures. Just ask them what car they drive and give a quote. If 300 flyers = 2 contacts then that means every 150 flyers u get one contact. So 1,500 flyers = 10 contacts keep giving those flyers out
I would add that I use a rigid 4x5 color card stock with a sample light (half done, before/after) taking 85% of the front and just a few "headlines". The back has more info but just black text on white which incudes a line like "Your Light & Stopping Distance Loss: xx%". where i write in what I think they are at. I also don't leave cards on windshields with less than 50%, I have zero interest in trying to convince someone there's an issue - it is obvious to them, I'm just bringing it to their attention - its a gradual decay process and easy to overlook it until its too late. It may take time to adjust your "message" to prompt a higher response rate. I do small runs of 500, measure results, then change, run another 500. In time you will learn what message/words prompt action. Maybe try to hit higher end shopping center parking lots, more disposable income. (Hint: I stress safety!)
Why did the price of Maguires clearcoat spray double?? it was like nine dollars and now it’s like $16 online or $22 in store?
I filled your steps and it came out cloudy what I did wrong
As far as equipment do you use a generator at all or just borrow power and cordless? Thank you
After the polish step, should there be a wait time to clear coat or clear coat immediately? Wasn't sure if I needed to let the light set for a few minutes after the wipe down (due to the oils in the polish) to clear coat.
The Meguiar's Clear Headlight Coating and 3M Quick Headlight Clear Coat have the same purpose and benefits right? same protection just need to pick one which ever is available? DOnt you need to sand it, polish and buff the Last clear coat? wont it have some orange peel and just make the light bounce around and fuzzy?
Hey again, question.
How many 500 grit (your lowest grit) of 3m sand paper would you say is used on a average headlight??
I forgot what I burn through, & adding up my costs.
I like 320, & then 600 due to the increased defect removal.
Best of luck in your venture friend.
1st....🤪
Mine look like that ..
Cloudy on the top...and in the other half still very clear...
Any advise you could recommend?
I want to do my headlights, just don't know what steps or sandpaper grits should I use start to finish.
Appreciate your input 👌
Great jobs in all of your videos btw
Much blessings 🙌
Just sit down, grab a beer and just go through his hundreds of videos and you will know exactly how to do them yourself. Nobody does it better than him when it comes to giving you every detail you need for every circumstance. Not a single issue with lights that he hasn't dealt with. Most importantly be patient with the process, don't force, skip or rush any steps and always look over your work before the next step. His method out performs all.
Totally agree...
6 pack for the duration of the labor 😅😅😅
"I don't know what steps or grits to use AND great job in all your videos btw" doesn't compute, if you watched any restore video here, you know exactly what steps/grits. Can't short circuit this, put in the time viewing, you'll do fine with your lights - even if it takes you a few tries to nail the "process". Good luck!
If you don't have any tools, here's how I did it by hand:
1) 1000 grit, 2000 grit, 3000 grit, and finally 5000 grit sandpaper (high grit makes polishing easier). I did it all wet - he does it dry in the first steps. To apply even pressure, I wrapped my sandpaper around a sponge, making it soft.
2) Plastic polishing compound, and *if* you have it, a drill with a foam/wool pad. If not, a microfiber pad will do, with lots of elbow grease. Get in there until it's SUPER reflective.
3) The Meguiar's headlight spray he also uses. It truly gives the finishing touches - any microscratches left behind will vanish with this stuff. Crystal clear afterwards.
It takes some elbow grease, but it can be done! Always make sure to spend enough time with each step. Don't skip any spots or it won't come out as good.
@@MiMicheIIe ty for your input 😎😎
Have you ever restored face sheilds? I have a full respirator face mask and the plastic is getting harder to see out of. Can what you do be done on the plastic?
Can you recommend products and technique for cleaning exhaust tips?
I love your videos and I don't know why they are so addicting but they are. In a very tired state - I put on a second coat on one of the headlights I was restoring, and as you can guess it made it go from a great restore to now, a cloudy restore. Do I redo via sanding and all the steps - or should I just use the polishing compound to get back to where it was (which looked good.)?
Boss likely still very busy and a I don't want to highjack the thread or step on his toes (or fingers, as the case may be) nor is it my place to recommend but that said, starting from 800 should work fine. There was a recent vid where CC ran, and same steps were followed for that repair. There was an earlier (~6 months ago?) vid as well and same approach used. Likely no need to go more aggressive than 800 but you'll know as you remove the CC. Good luck!
Thanks for taking the time to respond, I'll start at the 800 and try again
how do you do the clear coat so perfect. ive tried a few times, either too think and runs.. or too thin and it has speckle texture?
How do you take care of micro cracks in the light?
Have a question, so I’ve been doing this lately. I’ve ran into an issue with it. What looks like to be pieces of glue getting put onto the light when I’m sanding down. Then when I look at the pad, it looks like there’s like flakes of the headlight on the sanding disc and like a glue substance, am I pushing down too hard on the drill while I’m sanding? I’m just not sure what’s going on. It just takes me longer to finish the headlight, but they still come out good.
It's probably just the clear coat
What are the benefits of the green automotive tape vs regular blue painters tape from Walmart . I’ve used that green tape on headlights and it’s very expensive but maybe there’s something I’m not noticing
covered in quite a few vids. Grab a coffee and kick your feet up 👍
I heard the other guy say he has a Mercedes and I just did a gl450 that had very little oxidation so I spent hours sanding to get the clearcoat off. It was a nightmare
Is that ACDelco polisher orbital or not?
no
Thought you had died dude! 😊 Welcome back!
Probably working like a B!!! Always more work out there than time
Is been 2 n half months advertising
👍🏻
Simpler clean edits please that list is all over the place 😭
