    Great information. Not much nursery sells mums at spring time only cuttings online. Would be great if you can make a video on how those cuttings be use for landscape purposes, care and maintain :) are root cut mums ok to plant on the ground directly? Or has to be pot first and wait till it becomes a little big? Oh...and what kind of mums for landscape

    I was waiting until the first frost to mulch my mums, but instead we got a heavy snow. The snow has started to melt off of the plants but snow still surrounds the plants. If I cut the tops down and put mulch on top of the plants and around the plants on the snow will that be okay?

    I just purchase my mums last week. I sat them on the porch where they’ve been since I got them. I decided to water them and sit them in the sun to get some sunlight for a day and now they are hard. The blooms feel dried out and are turning brown. Just after one day water and sun. What did I do?! How can I fix this?! Please help!

    My mums are huge! They have a beautiful shape with strong branches. However, I don’t have any bloom. I use a drip system for water and do so regularly. I use a fish emulsion for feeding. I planted these mums last year in October. They came with maroon blooms on 10” plants. They are now about 3’ in circumference and it is August of the second year. What am I doing wrong? I don’t understand why I have no budding. I live in western Kentucky. Can you please advise me? Thank you

      I am in zone 5B in Central Oregon, and the mums I planted last year or about 3 feet across and 3 1/2 feet tall. The white ones have been blooming for about a week but the other colors have not budded yet... variety differences? They are planted right next to each other. I was really disappointed that the white ones bloomed so early, as I was counting on them for later fall blossoms.

      Hi Yolanda! Mums will go dormant after the first frost of the year. When they look bad, cut them back down to the ground and wait for them to re-emerge in the spring.

    How do they handle a frost situation?

    • @the_garden_guru
      @the_garden_guru  Год назад +1

      Mums will expire in a frost, but can sometimes be protected with a frost cloth early in the season. Mum blooms are not able to last through the winter in our area of USDA zone 7b-8a, however, they are perennial plants are able to come back annually with the right care.

      It is not too late to plant as long as a frost has not occurred!
