Very helpful information. I’m pretty savvy as a senior with technology but watching this video gave me ideas on more ways i can use my reminder app for. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been using the Reminders app for over a year. But with your help it just got a lot easier and a lot more useful and efficient!
Thank you for this video, my mother asked me to “hold her hand” through setting up her Siri, and I just can’t. She’s not disabled or elderly just… scared I guess? Your content is very much appreciated! One note: It would be really helpful to list the sections in the description section for those on mobile. Have a great day, Ellen!
I appreciate your comment. I hope the videos help your Mom. Most of my videos have time stamps. This was an older one. So going forward they will always be there.
Wow! I’ve been typing everything, never thought to use Siri! Thanks for so many tips! I’ll re watch the video with a notepad! Subscribed - and I’m not even a senior! :) thanks for clear explanation and easy to understand information.
Recently I have been using SIri more and more to create reminders. Thank you for this video and for the 5 quick tips. Keep up the great work 👏 P.S. I like your homescreen-the minimalist look is very user friendly. I have something similar myself
Hi Ellen, Thanks for your great video. I am using iPhone Mini and the IOS is 17.4.1 however my reminder app does not look as yours. When I click the inform icon at right hand, it just displays five selection 1) Date 2) Time 3) Location 4) Priority 5) List. I cannot find the #Tag, Camera and subtask. Also, when create the name of list, it only has option for selecting the color but it does not have the opton to change the icon. What is the problem of my Reminder app? Need your help. Thank your very much. KK
@@EllensTipsForiOS Thanks for your quick reply. I don’t understand how to use iCloud account. I just installed the app from App Store and open it as usual. The content is obviously different with yours.
@@EllensTipsForiOS Hi Ellen, thanks for hints and advices. I got the full version of Reminders app. As you mentioned about the iCloud account that I was not updated and synchronised with IPhone. It works well after I fixed it. Thanks your help again.👍
As one senior to another, I'm asking you to do a video on the following... My neighbor as another senior wants no part of anything (computer). I mention the latest technology, and his responce is...... "EVERYTHING WITH COMPUTERS IS A LIE". So i find out my of my other neighbors feel the same way. I mention (go-to-meeting) for board members to solve problems in the park (now)..... instead of waiting till the fall. Reaction......(I maybe told next week to leave the park). That is how much they dislike the latest technology.
Wish I could change peoples thoughts on computer but I don’t have that kind of power! Hopefully I show them what they can do with an iPad which I find much easier to use!

Can you explain the difference between a reminder, to do list and a food shopping list? It seems like everything is considered a reminder even if it's a list. Thanks
Hi Rich, A reminder is simply a mental cue that brings something to the forefront of your mind such as a date or time. Your to do or shopping list is where you keep those reminders. They are just placeholders for your reminders. Hope that helps.
@@EllensTipsForiOS Thanks for your quick reply! So what is the best way to start a grocery shopping list that I can add to each time I think of something I need, if I ask seri to remind me to get cranberry juice will that be added to a list I already create or will each item be listed as a separate reminder? Also have you done a video on using notes? Thanks
The video should explain how to add a reminder. Just tell Siri which list to add it to once you’ve created the list. An example would be “Hey Siri add cranberry juice to the shopping list.” Here’s a link to the video on the Notes app Top 10 Tips For Seniors to Master Apple Notes ruclips.net/video/I4seljMNk7M/видео.html
I use the reminders app every day and find it very useful. Often times I use it with Siri. However, I do have two complaints. Maybe someone out there has suggestions. 1. When I search for keywords in a subtask, I wish the search results, pulled up the entire reminder, rather than just the individual subtask. 2. Within a reminder, I wish I could start a new paragraph by hitting the return key. Instead, I find myself using the dictation feature, and saying “New Paragraph“
Hi TJ, thanks for watching! Have you tried using Tags to see if that brings up the reminder? As for adding a paragraph I think that’s by design in the Reminders app to add a new Reminder.
@@EllensTipsForiOS you’re welcome. I enjoy watching your videos. Yes I do use the tags feature. Sometimes it’s more convenient to search by a key word, but it does not pull up the entire reminder, it only pulls up the subtask.
@@EllensTipsForiOS I have a lot of older information saved in the reminders app. Reminders that were created long before hashtags became a thing. Reminders that repeat, every three months, every six months, yearly, etc. I suppose I could always go back and set them to hashtags, but it would probably be too time-consuming.
Let me know how you're using the Reminders app and if you're using it with Siri? Look for the Resource Guide in the description.
