@@user-yv2cz8oj1k Robot litter boxes are a bit more complex than that, at least the good ones. There are many sensors and some have a fair amount of "computing" going on (for example the competitor Litter Robot can tell between multiple cats just using its various sensors so that you can track how often each of your fluffy companions use the toilet, which is actually handy to track their health, and you have access to all the relevant info as well as maintenance monitoring via an app and the Litter Robot itself can connect to your WiFi, some people have even integrated it in their smart home setup using Home Assistant for example). At the end of the day most people don't *need* an automated litter box but it can be a nice luxury if you can afford it, with some potentially handy health tracking benefits in some cases, and it also can solve the issue of normally needing as many litter boxes as cats, if not n+1, which isn't always practical if you live in an apartment or smaller house between the required space and the potential smell. And as these robotic litter boxes are constantly kept clean you normally only need one even if you have two or more cats.
@@GirlNoNonsense Yeah the Litter Robot models seem to have gone up in price with every generation, although according to reviews I've seen they've also improved every time and offer more and more features (for example afaik WiFi connectivity is now no longer an optional add-on but comes by default and there's an app which not only allows you to easily monitor if any maintenance is needed but it can for example also identify which of your cats is using it and track how often each of them use the toilet which is actually handy to track their health). We have a Litter Robot 4. Works great 90% time. The issue is our cat seems to like to pee near the edge of the bowl rather than towards the middle of the litter pile. Due to the curvature of the bowl, there isn’t enough litter to clump properly so it ends up sticking to the bowl requiring a manual cycle/intervention. Annoying but everything else works great. No issues with his craps.
The cat litter self cleaners seem expensive, but they are the best investments you can make . The amount of time and seamless maintenance and no more scooping and breaking your back is worth every penny. I own 2 units and enjoy it. Also, it absolutely prevents feline UTI which can save you 300-700 for visit and medication because there is always clean litter
How chill is Neko? I once tried rubbing my cat's belly. After restorative surgery and a few blood transfusions I decided I wouldn't try it again in future.
PSA: Please never use cat litter not made out of wood chips, in the long-term these damage cats’ kidneys since these contain salts as a drying agent. Wood chips on the other hand just acts like fiber. (Cats digest cat litter when cleaning themselves)
I've had a Litter Robot 3 and a Litter Robot 4. The 4 is great: WAY quieter and easier to clean inside. That said, sometimes it does have occasional sensor issues. I have it attached to a smart outlet so I can "reboot" it if a cat stops the cleaning cycle and it doesn't start up again fast enough for my liking. (push notifications help)
we have a different version of an electronic litter box. works exactly the same way though, it's got a barrel that rotates to sift and dump the used litter into a bag as well. we have 3 cats and it's essential. my kids take turns emptying it when it's full, the cats are happy cause it's always clean, and all the smell is kept behind a trap door, it's much better than a standard box for sure.
When your cat's crapper has more features than your own ... you may have a problem. 😂 (As an fyi, my two cats Mr. Jake and Lt. Nog, use old school boxes, as I can't afford the fancy $500+ ones.)
The tracking can be useful to keep on top of some health issues. If your cat is using the litter box much more or much less than usual, it can be indicative of some health problems, like kidney stones or so.
I am very partial towards my own kittypoobots, which seem substantially more accessible than this unit. Same filtering concept for the litter though. Still, quite entertaining to see another company's take on robotifying the poo box. Noice!
Just...no. Absolutely not. It's way too high off the ground for any kitty. The app, while tracking litter box habits may be helpful to a vet diagnosing a concern and the accuracy of the litter report is somewhat helpful, there are other options like cleaning the litter box with your hands hands and using your own eyes. My fluff uses the Scoop Free which you can set the timer for it to rake the litter box however, I wipe it down with litter wipes every other day along with scooping the "catch" and replace the trays every week. The price of this is outrageous also. This was surprising, Dawid, and while I'm thrilled you have a kitty, this was way different and glad you changed direction for a unique education. Gotta say though, not a litter box I'll be using. Thanks for covering it along with your beautiful fluff.
It might just take some time to adjust but can't help but think it would have been smoother if the cat was sanctioned in another room during setup and only let him in after setting it up with litter and blocking the old one. That time where he got familiar with it and sat in it empty he probably thought it was a new sleeping/resting area which could have also lead to his confusion after of both doing his business in it and also using it as a resting area. Little awkward!
