The first time I heard the Goo Goo Dolls my girlfriend and I were on a road trip. She said get the G.G.Dolls greatest hits... I was like, who? what? I was blown away. Should be on everybody's playlist.
Such a great band, a deeply moving song, and an amazing performance! To this day, this track gives me chills, and reminds me of someone truly special 😊. In case I don't get the opportunity to say so later, thank you for the many wonderful meanderings down musical memory lane over this past year. Best wishes to you Steven, for a peaceful and joyful Christmas, and for a happy and healthy new year!🙏💙🎄🎉
This is one of 'those' songs, when all the stars aligned, and all the planets converged, at the right time, with the right people, and the perfect song was created. This live performance, with the rain and the crowd and the unity. Just Wow! Never seen this before, so thank you, made my day. ✌❤
You picked the perfect live version of this song, it shows 100% dedicated performers. This song was used on the sound track to City of Angels and us perfect for the movie.
I've always loved this song, but have never seen this live video until now......and it's amazing, beautiful, thrilling, emotional and .....wet! Thanks for introducing this to me to this Steven. Cheers & Season's Greetings to all!
I was at this show and it was very emotional!!!!! The Goo's were our little secret here in Buffalo when they were a punk-rock band when they started out, then they changed their sound to become more pop-rock and exploded!!!!! They were told to reschedule this show by their management because of the heavy rain and danger it presented. Both Johnny and Robbie said no we are doing this, they did not want to let their hometown down on The 4TH of July!!!!
I saw the goo goo dolls in 95 for 5 bucks at the university of Rochester when they were still playing the local college circuit. Name was just becoming a radio hit.
3:30. I'm in Rochester. Next city to the east. Same night july 4th 2004. We had George thorogood outside in the city part of the 4th celebration. We got soaked! It was one of my favorite concerts. The rain makes it magical
Love, love, love The Goo Goo Dolls!! Such an amazing band with some really awesome songs. A few others of theirs for you to check out are Slide, Black Balloon, and Name. Great reaction!! 😊

I don't have a preference for Goo Goo Dolls, never a huge fan, but there's no denying the quality of the songwriting on this track. Couple that with this particular moment in time and you've got a really special moment.
Everything has to be grounded very well! A little rain never hurt anybody. I'm 62 and I still go out and stomp puddles dry. My neighbors probably wonder about my sanity, that's just how I stay sane.
As a drummer I love the 6/8 bit then the time change during the bridge and it tool me a while to figure out the off beat accentuated snare hits. I finally got it and love when this comes on the radio. Sadly not many classic rock stations on normal FM radio anymore at least not my area.
It's not rain it's pissing stair rods 😅thank gawd for battery packs. This is the best version I have ever seen, playing for the audience - giving the fans their all what a fantastic way to say thank you.- they're from buffalo.
I Appreciate YOU for making these videos for US! 🤟 I look forward to your videos every day, and I am thoroughly enjoying going through your past videos for the first time! You are knowledgeable, talented, friendly, emotional, funny, and more, and a joy to listen to! Thanks for taking the time to share these videos and your life!😊❤🥁🎸
John Rzeznik (singer) was asked to write this song for the movie "City Of Angels" and it's perfect!! Now go watch the movie...you'll understand!!🫶🎵🎼🎶🎸🎤🎙🎧🎹🥁🔥🤘
This song was written for the movie City of Angels about an angel who gives up his celestial being to become human because he's in love with a human. It's a great love story, but it has a sad ending! The song is written from the angel's point of view.
@setonhillstudios It stars Nicholas Cage, Meg Ryan, and Dennis Franz. Nicholas Cage plays the angel who falls in love with Meg Ryan, and Dennis Franz is a guy who used to be an angel. It's a great movie! You should check it out!
You know, this was in my opinion. The rebirth rock and roll left me especially in the early 80s. Growing up listening to rock and roll in the late 60s. Through the mid-seventies, the electronics and the disco sound. I just couldn't get into but groups like the googoo dolls, Seven Mary Three, Soul Assylum, Screaming Cheeta Wheelies Really called me back. I had escaped to outlaw country.
This is amazing, I've never seen this video of them but i still listen to them regularly. If you haven't seen Prince perform at superbowl, it's raining as well.
This song was used in the soundtrack of the movie City of Angels starring Meg Ryan and Nicholas Cage. Cage portrays an angel who has followed Ryan's character all her life and protected her from harm. He becomes so taken with her that he gives up his angelic position in Heaven to become human so he can be with her. You can see how the song is fitting for this plot. If I remember correctly, lead singer, John Rzeznik wrote the song just for the film. I'm glad I found your channel. It's becomes an important part of this old man's day. You cover a lot of the music I grew up with and introduce me to knew artists I haven't spent time listening to.
Following up on a point you made…. People are afraid to show all of themselves for fear of not being understood, the reality of it is when we stand there, naked, having put down our masks we are equally as afraid of being understood too well. I heard this song the first time on the Movie City of Angels and was an instant fan.
If it's just rain, then wireless mics and wireless guitar systems help with shock prevention for the musicians, but there's still a ton of power being used in the vicinity. It all comes down to grounding the equipment properly etc.
Let's Gooo! This is my Daughters favorite video..I know the song and love it but I had no clue she did she's 23 so I didn't think she knew about them. She showed me this about a month ago. Unbelievable how they just continued 😳 Please check out Tragically Hip New Orleans is sinking studio version. Great reaction and Peace out Steven 🙏 ☮️ ✌️BTW you sound sick..ginger honey tea will help 😉 We love you too 😘

I see lots of these ‘’First Reaction’’ videos on RUclips. For the most part they are tailored to a younger demographic of younger people. Stone Age people like me understand the importance and value of teaching the younger Generations. It was the same when I was a Teenager back in the 50’s, we began to experience music artists. Not too much difference today except the music artist are much more varied with a History. I don’t listen to the top 100 music charts today. It makes me “Run’’ back into my Cave. LOL. We had Elvis 🤗you have Taylor Swift. 😳 Just not in my Stone Age Cave. 😄 Even Before Google bought RUclips, I started searching the Planet for something new on RUclips. Artists I was never aware of from my Stone Age Neanderthal Cave days 😄 It wasn’t available here in America when I was growing up. No. It's about an angel falling in love with a human and does not think he should show himself. You have to now watch City of Angels with Meg Ryan and Nicolas Cage. Great movie. Heart breaker though.
Now that you have listened to this, react to a young man from Indonesia by the name of Cakra Kahn with an orchestral cover od this and be ready to be completely blown away! ruclips.net/video/sUCR9XXefjY/видео.html

It is a great song by itself, but seeing the movie City of Angels shows how it was written to perfectly tell the story.

I'm in Rochester. I remember listening to goo goo dolls on 103.3 the edge.
I saw them in Columbia SC during their punk phase. I miss those days.
I was there too, it was amazing! And it was a free show!
I love their professionalism. Many acts would rush through things in weather like this. They continued with audience participation and everything.
This was the best show ever. Loved the energy of the night.
Steven, thank you for spending time with us. We love you!
❤️
The sad thing about this is you will never see this kind of concert again the music will never be like it was back then
Sadly, you are correct. Music has completely gone downhill
I saw them live in 2003. They are amazing live. I have been a fan forever! Good choice!
great video SHS thank you
