Mayday was the first time we saw Dreamcatcher live with a band. That was when we knew they were something special, with vocal abilities far beyond other groups. We had to wait over two years before we experienced that again with their livestream concert Dystopia: Seven Spirits in November of 2020. The concert only happened because Covid shut down all touring activities otherwise we may have never seen them with a live professional band. The concert was a huge event for InSomnia because it also marked the return of Handong who had spent a year in China, trapped by the Covid lockdown. They did other livestream band concerts after that, the last one being held in October of 2022. They concentrate on touring now and there's no band so I actually miss the Covid era.
I hope you are able to stay healthy mentally and phisically, Fighting!!💪💪 Mayday was actually live, the band members are actually Insomnia btw. The video is edited tho, I believe they recorded 2 takes and chose the better shots + some post processing. This album was the first one in wich Dami wrote lyrics, she wrote Scar and helped writing for You and I.
In Mayday, I found it interesting that one of the InSomnia band members was playing an 8-string guitar, and another was paying a 5-string bass guitar. Also, I believe the members of the band won a contest to be able to back the ladies.
In "You and I" you can see the spider queen coming for Yoohyeon. She is the old woman that is being photographed - only to rob Yoohyeon's spirit. Also, earlier we see Dongie being pinned to the wall by needles, what is usually done to insects. For me, Yoohyeon's spirit is being pulled out here and thrown into the white dimension, which we will see again in Piri. The spider queen takes over her body, which is why we see JiU try to free Yoohyeon (without success) and grab her neck in the end. I highly recommend to check out the dance practice as well, because Dami does something very special that didn't really make it into the MV.
dreamcatcher \:D/ the mayday clip was recorded live then went through post processing. it sounded a little compressed to me. the video also seemed to be spliced between two different recordings. the band were their fans. some of them have yt channels where they do instrumental covers.
"You and I" was the song that converted me into Insomnia back in the days. They seemed to start experimenting the fusion of rock with more trendy sound and made it work. For "Mayday" it was actually recorded Live a few times with the musicians who were InSomnias which can explain the mic volume issue with some members. We indeed can see how much fun they have and to me especially Siyeon seemed like the most confortable (she was in a band before becoming a trainee). Unfortunately, as you have kind of noticed, we don't have real good close up of Handong. The very few quick parts she had during the song, we have either a view on everyone (and Handong is in the left of the screen) or a camera more centered on Siyeon, either a close up on an instrument... 😓After she came back from China for "Odd Eye" she got more shining moments. "Scar" is also amazing but DC almost never performs it during concerts. Thanks for the reaction and take care of yourself first!
welcome back to your own channel xD im glad you're feeling better . as you can see music still here ^^ we are still here :) nothing has change . mental health comes first and Dreamcatcher is awesome
You didn't finish watching the Mayday video, where you would have found out the band was made up of InSomnia. With DC, always finish the videos because often there's extra things at the end. Plus definitely was recorded live, mixed of at least 2 takes, post processed. Studio versions just don't sound like this.
Glad to see you back! Yea don't worry about taking time if you need it, we'll be around when you're ready. I love all the songs on this EP but my favorites are Scar, which was written by Dami, and Mayday. The Mayday performance you saw was live (and the musicians were all InSomnia who competed for a chance to play with the girls) but I think you're right about there being some post production on it. The album version does sound a little different and the vocals are easier to hear. I really, really like Scar. Dami did a fantastic job writing that one and I wished that it had been promoted more. I think its one of the few Dreamcatcher songs that's never gotten a live performance anywhere. You & I is really well liked by a lot of people in the fandom and I've seen several people list it as their favorite but for me it's on the lower end of their title tracks. Still great, just not towards the top of my list. Which-a-star is probably in my bottom 5 Dreamcatcher songs. It's good, I still really like it and don't skip it, but I don't ever search it out. I will say, there's a radio performance of it that's really funny and worth watching. They also sound amazing singing it live. Next up is Alone in the City! Great EP with some really interesting b-sides. There are two special clips on the next one, July 7th & Wonderland.
Handong has a few parts in Mayday, the camera just didn't focus on her for any of them. 😢 Also, I made a playlist of all accurate lyric videos so you don't have to worry next time ^_^ ruclips.net/p/PLoAahkatNIT8kVxOqHNCvw6D2TyvU-KVH
Actually with instrumentals you really get to hear the parts buried in the mix. I can understand people thinking there's no point in reacting, but don't ignore them entirely.
I knew Scar would resonate with you. Dami wrote the lyrics and she knows what she's talking about. The song is one of the few Dreamcatcher songs not composed by LEEZ and Ollounder, their in house production team, so it's a little different.
Thanks for a great reaction video! Cool that you enjoyed Scar; it feels a bit forgotten sometimes, but it's such a great track. Keep one thing in mind at all times. Your mental well-being is *ALWAYS* more important than RUclips reactions. If someone tells you that they're disappointed that you're taking "me time", don't listen. If your inner voice tells you that you're disappointing us by taking "me time", don't listen. What you need to listen to is your body and mind. Your well-being comes first.
Bro, I've watched a bunch of your reactions and I don't know how else to say this, are you high as shit or what? Dreamcatcher is great any way you do it but damn give me some of whatever you got 🤣
@@Phattydumpz sober as can be. Maybe I just love music more than you I’m not sure 🤷🏻♂️ It’s been a big part of my life and always will be. Music makes me happy, that’s basically it.

I agree with this. I didn't like Rose Blue much until I heard the instrumental. I think the vocals are too upfront
