Chase Me is the first part of the 7 song Nightmare story arc. A tragic tale of curses, lost souls, and the dangers of giving in to the dark side of your nature. There are many reasons to love Dreamcatcher. They are master storytellers, all 7 are excellent vocalists/dancers, and they always sing live on stage. Their songwriting/production team has been with them since the beginning, so their music has been extremely consistent while also growing and developing as their skills have grown over the years. The stories they tell are about what it means to be human and thus appeal to people from all over the world. They are one of the few Kpop groups whose international fan base is much larger than their Korean one. Koreans don't like rock music, but fortunately most of the world does. You hear that electric guitar and you know it's Dreamcatcher. Fans are called InSomnia (in dreams). Welcome to the Dreamworld. The next part of the story is Good Night.
Always love finding a new reactor who can talk about a specific facet of the art. Really enjoyed your analysis of the instrumental and the composition. Dreamcatcher are fantastic and are a very unique group in K-Pop. I hope you'll continue working through their discography, it's pretty great all the way through.
The great thing about your introduction to Dreamcatcher being their debut is that you get to hear Siyeon and Dami as babies lol Siyeon's voice is 10x stronger & more powerful now and Dami's voice is 10x deeper now.
Welcome to the Dream World to you and your little guest at the end! Thanks for the reaction and all the insights and interesting comments. Just in case, Dreamcatcher is very unique in the KPop industry. Their sound is very specific and their title tracks are easy to recognize because of the mix of sound with rock/metal. Usually Kpop doesn't sound like this especially nowadays. I hope you will continue the reactions to Dreamcatcher with the title tracks in order to follow the storyline and their evolution. I'm especially looking forward to the day you'll check PIRI as you are a flutist.
Dreamcatcher is definitely an outlier in the K-pop genre. With the driving rock sound and darker themed videos. Definitely worth checking out more of their stuff.
Oh wow!! Reacting to Dreamcatcher??? This is a nice surprise! Didn't expect this 😅. This is just about the only Kpop group I really listen and follow.. That last bit is a teaser to their next MV, musically. Welcome to Dreamworld! Thank you for your reaction! 💗☺️ Dreamcatcher (DC/Deukae) is an unique 7 member girl group. They're a K-pop group known to incorporate pop & other genres and, in one way or another, blending with rock/metal/synth instrumentals within *ALL* their *TITLE TRACKS*. Thus creating an unique signature blend of genre known only to Dreamcatcher. They're also known as the Concept Queens and having Powerful live performances, usually with dark/horror/creepy concept themes MVs. Their title tracks MVs have always been story based, connecting one song to another. **This is only for their TITLE TRACKS.** They've had concerts and live performances with live bands, which, to me, has the best versions, which many InSomnias can agree that. On a flipside, their B-SIDES hold a *HUGE* variety of genres and experimental fusion creativity. It's like a different world of Dreamcatcher. Ballads, EDM, jazz, funk, reggae, hard metal/rock, citypop, just to name some. Their B-side tracks is where all members flex their vocals & versatility which seems infinite, as they continue to surprise us everytime they comeback with new songs. The members also showed their creativity by taking part and getting credited for the composing, writing, choreographies for some of their songs too. They have also done numerous vocal/dance covers, adding their own twist to the songs, making it their own. And all 7 of them wrote/composed/produced their own solo songs & included them in the Apocalypse:Save Us full Album. *COMPANY* : Dreamcatcher Company (DCC) (Formerly known as Happyface Entertainment) *DEBUT* : January 13, 2017 *FANDOM NAME* : InSomnia {In Dreams(Latin)} -Formed in 2018, here's a short DC video, officially introducing the fandom name: ruclips.net/video/2KXFvi6r3EY/видео.html *MEMBERS* : JiU ('94) (Vocalist, Lead dancer) SuA ('94) (Main dancer, Vocalist, Rapper) Siyeon ('95) (Main Vocalist) Handong ('96) (Vocalist) Yoohyeon ('97) (Lead Vocalist) Dami ('97) (Main Rapper, Lead dancer, Vocalist) Gahyun ('99) (Vocalist, Lead Rapper) *Honestly, by now all of them are capable doing all the positions.* *MAIN COMPOSERS* : Ollounder, Leez, Edenary Team (Leez left recently, so I'm not sure if he'll come back for future works) *MAIN CHOREOGRAPHER* : Hwang Sooyeon (aka S8YN) *No. of Albums/EPs/Singles* : 17 (Kor) 6 (Jap) (I think, I might be wrong) RUclips Channel : ruclips.net/user/Dreamcatcherofficial ruclips.net/user/happyfaceent ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There are currently 4 storylines: Note* Storylines are for their title tracks only. *NIGHTMARE* Series Dreamcatcher cursed and became Nightmares, trying to escape. *DYSTOPIA* Trilogy Basically tackling the vicious bullying through words/media *Apocalypse* Trilogy A call to safe the Earth *VersuS* 2 part series Alter ego Ying/Yang of sorts Note** Feel free to conclude your own theories, as the storylines have different interpretations from the fandom. Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 "Chase me" was their debut, released on January 13th (a Friday), 2017. It must have been nerve-wrecking for the members, re-debuting with a genre that is not popular in Korea after Minx failed. (5 of them were Minx before.) But they already doubled their sales with this. And they stuck with the Rock/Metal vibe until today, now selling 50 times the albums than Minx did. This is the start of the Nightmare arc, which spans 6 MVs and 1 Japanese release. They are Nightmares here, and the Nightmare hunter is trying to dispel them - how that turns out is shown in the next one, Good Night. Their dance costume here is like a shortened Yukata, except wrapped right over left, something that's usually only done for the deceased. Fits well into the horror concept! Remember the ending here for when you react to Good Night!
I would let her finish the Nightmare series first, though. That way, as a musician herself, she gets to feel out their development and improvement in their skills. Obviously if she falls in love with the 7 ladies, she will get to the Dystopia trilogy soon enough. She already opened one book. Let her get through the chapters and close it before she opens a different book.
Agreed. Known as 'The Black Sheep' of K-Pop and 'The Face of Rock in K-Pop'... yeah, not the greatest as far as representing everybody else in Korea. But oh, how the West does love these amazing hard-working ladies! :)
Oh, this is rare to see. Whenever i see ppls first time reacting to DC music its usually something new, but rarely you see someone's first reaction is their debut song. By now you probably realized whats Dreamcatcher's core sound. Their earlier music was more on a heavy side, they kinda switched a bit but not too much. They still use rock/metal elements in their music but now they blending multiple genres with rock/metal making it so different and refreshing to listen and it never sound the same.
Dreamcatcher created their own genre from that mix of beauty + ferocity. There's always a fusion of any variety of musical genres with rock or metal sounds, those big changes in tone, and always VOCALS. The best example of all that is also their biggest video on RUclips, Boca, how hateful comments hurt everyone including those saying them. If you're still interested in Dreamcatcher after Good Night. 😊
Thank you so much for making the time and effort to react to Dreamcatcher. The world's ONLY FACE, FORCE and QUEENS of ROCK in kpop since 2017! If you're curious whether they've done Chase Me in a LIVE setting with a proper backing (instrumentals) band, the title for the vid is (copy paste) -> [2017 JUMF] 드림캐쳐 - Chase me (Dreamcatcher - Chase me) | 전주얼티밋뮤직페스티벌 하이라이트 | K-pop ~Might need to watermark that if you're willing to upload a reaction. I'm quite confident their performance here should be compelling enough to start your own Deukae reaction series. 😊
The music box in the end is from Part 2 of this, a song that came out two months later called Good Night. It's associated with one of the coolest and best choreographed intros in K-Pop history, the Doll Dance from Good Night. It's not that noticeable in the MV, but the Dance MV and the live performances all have it. When I watched it back in 2017 I fell for Dreamcatcher hard. How cool can these girls get? Oh, and Good Night? One of their best and most iconic songs ever. And from there, it keeps getting better and better, and better.
DC is known for their rock sound but they are one of the best using the piano or keyboard.... and then their music evolution is another story... what they were and what they are now is just...
Dreamcatcher (along with Band-Maid as well) are far and away the best things the RUclips algorithm sent my way during the pandemic. Enjoy if you keep checking them out.
Ich stimme Dir zu. Es ging mir genauso. Es ist hervorragende Musik (wenn auch in anderen Genres). I agree with you. I felt the same way. It's excellent music (albeit in different genres).
You've managed to find the group famous for consistently seamlessly merging rock and kpop together! There's not much else like them in the kpop scene. They've fought very long and hard to get the recognition they do today. Also, since you're a flutist, you should listen to "Piri" by Dreamcatcher for no other reason other than piri is a type of flute. I'm definitely not trying to entice you into listening to more Dreamcatcher because they'd be totally worth your time nuh uh nope. 🙃 but seriously, I love your musical analysis and appreciation and would love to see more of one of my favourite groups of all time!
Dreamcatcher are considered to be the Dark Angels of K-Pop, there is no other group like them. Their title tracks always contain an element of rock or metal, but their B-sides cover almost every other genre going, and unlike most other K-Pop groups every one of the seven ladies is an excellent singer, including the rappers and dance specialist. Does not matter which song you try next as they don`t do bad songs, but may I suggest `Scream`as your next one, as this is the song that started me down this rabbit ( not Pigeon )hole, ( yes, I`m a big Band Maid fan). I am so happy that you have discovered them as I enjoy your reactions so much, and I look forward to many more.
dreamcatcher \:D/ if you like the melody in the outro, you can check out part 2 which is 'good night' 😉 chase me was their debut song and they are from a small company so they didn't have much to work with in the beginning. they are a bit more popular now so if you want to check out more recent stuff that highlights their vocals a little more, try bon voyage, or justice. and.. they are really the anti-kpop of kpop which is why many of their fans like them. some described them as kpop for adults and musicians since their music has more going on than the stereotypical cut from the same cloth you hear in kpop, or mainstream music nowadays I guess.
Oh, the Dark Angels appear! Fantastic! They are definitely a group I figured you would enjoy. Most of their music is bangers so you can't really go wrong. If you want to continue this particular storyline the next one is Good Night. Their biggest song is probably Boca, which I think you would enjoy a lot. Depending on what you like there is a lot of really good Kpop. I would recommend the big ones just so you get a feel for it: Boy Groups: BTS, Stray Kids, Shinee and Ateez are good places to start. Girl Groups: Blackpink, Red Velvet, (G)I-DLE and Twice are probably worth checking out (besides the awesomeness that is Dreamcatcher ofc....) Solo artists: IU and Bibi might be some complete polar opposites worth looking into.
🤘 Hey Nittpicc, Dreamcatcher plays in Houston (713 Music Hall) on November 20th! Go! I'll finally be seeing them in Seattle a week earlier -- first time they've come to the Pacific Northwest! Most DC title track MVs are parts of story arcs, usually trilogies. But a couple of incredible stand-alones are the fan favorite masterpiece "Deja Vu" and "BEcause". Both would be great to analyze. Dreamcatcher is my ultimate group, and they've got 7.5+ years of amazing music for you to explore! (And that's not even counting their previous incarnation, Minx.) Just discovered you with this reaction, and you bet I subscribed immediately. Big bonus to find you've also done a couple of Rolling Quartz! 👑❤💎 (Saw them in Seattle, May 2023!) Love the musical knowledge you bring to your reactions!
This is my favorite group, they are really different from the usual kpop groups btw. If you wanna follow the storyline of this video the next song would be Good Night
"Chase me" was the debut song in 1/2017. All the title songs to date have been great - mostly with clear rock elements. In order to be able to judge the quality of a group, I like to use the B sites. And there is endless good material available - also in other styles. I recommend: "Red sun", "Fairytale", "Demian", "Shatter" (all official MV). Plus "Deja vu" (official MV) - THE masterpiece in my opinion. And thank you for discovering this unique K-pop-group.
LOVED your reaction and commentary! would love to see you react to more of them. the vocalist you point out at 8:22 is siyeon who's their main vocalist and trust me on this you will love to hear what she's been doing vocally on some more recent songs. this was their debut and of course they were incredible but got even better over the years. if you wanna see what happens next since there's a storyline here the next music video to watch is good night
I love Dreamcatcher so much! I'm happy to see them on my favorite react channel. I hope you can dive into their discography, it's super diverse and worth it. They were here in Brazil last sunday and I'm so sad that I couldn't go, they are AMAZING performing live, it's where they shine the most. Apart from Dreamcatcher, another kpop group I love is "GFRIEND", but sadly they disbanded a few years ago. They had amazing songs too and a cute and bright concept instead of the cool and dark concept that Dreamcatcher usually goes for, so it would be a different side of kpop to take a look.
Hi princess. Hope you are well. Thank you for introducing me to this band. There are many elements of Stanley Kubric's "The Shining" in the video. Not a bad thing, it's a great movie. And this was a great video and a great song. Oh, and your reaction wasn't too shabby either. 😊
I am going to see dreamcatcher in Denver Colorado! My brother got me and him 8th row tickets! Can not wait to hear them in person! Insomnia for life!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dreamcatcher is great. If you follow the various series/stories that they have you cannot go wrong. Dreamcatcher and Mamamoo are the only K-Pop that have stuck with me. Normal playlist is Lovebites, Slayer, Jinjer, Band-maid, Gojira, generally the heavier side of things...Plus Dreamcatcher and Mamamoo. For uncanny vocals take a listen to Mamamoo. Thanks for providing content worth watching.
Dreamcatcher is the genre. If you listen to Dreamcatcher you don't listen to kpop. They are like the dark clouds above the land of kpop. Part of the view, but way above it. And this is the thing with Dreamcatcher you don't except them. Even if you are a fan for years. Maaan, I just love Dreamcatcher.
Welcome to the Dreamworld. As other's have noted all of Dreamcatcher's title tracks use at least some rock and metal elements. This use of rock was pretty much non-existent in Kpop from 2005 until Dreamcatcher's debut with Chase Me because of a scandal in which a couple of fans of a punk rock band called RUX got naked on live TV making the genre largely anathema outside of clubs in South Korea. Of particular interest to you as a flute player might be Dreamcatcher's later title track Piri since it refers to and uses the Korean wooden flute called the piri.
Dreamcatchetis Kpop that was a normal Kpop band but wasn't successful so they decided to change concepts and decided to incorporate hard rock and metal elements in their music. Similar to BabyMetal but not that much. Band style music is not a popular genre in Korea.. AOA tried this in the early 2010s with thei song Moya an Get out, not successful in Korea but has its international fans. And Rolling Quartz, is a current band that plays rock and metal. Again with more international fans than domestic one.
If you want to do Kpop... BTS and Black Pink are the most famous. But I would recommend older 2nd generation bands who I think have way greater musical diversity. As all the modern 4th gen bands sound the same, dance the same and the lyrics are more formulaic, and they have for all practical purposes only caee about dance performance and not singing ability as every thing is now autotuned. I would recommend AOA Under the Streetlights. Mamamoo Mr Ambiguous. EXID Night Rather than Day. A Pink Mr Chu. These are all older female Kpop bands which I think represent the best in singing and mucality in their songs.
Part 2 is Good Night. Another group you react to on the channel, Rolling Quartz, also has a cover MV for Good Night.
Always love finding a new reactor who can talk about a specific facet of the art. Really enjoyed your analysis of the instrumental and the composition.

Still my favorites.
More. MORE! Sorry I got excited. Please do more Dreamcatcher.
DC is probably the worst representer of the k-pop, because it is so different from the stock. It is the best group in the world, seriously.
Agreed.

if you like the melody in the outro, you can check out part 2 which is 'good night' 😉
chase me was their debut song and they are from a small company so they didn't have much to work with in the beginning. they are a bit more popular now so if you want to check out more recent stuff that highlights their vocals a little more, try bon voyage, or justice. and.. they are really the anti-kpop of kpop which is why many of their fans like them. some described them as kpop for adults and musicians since their music has more going on than the stereotypical cut from the same cloth you hear in kpop, or mainstream music nowadays I guess.
I would recommend the big ones just so you get a feel for it:
Boy Groups: BTS, Stray Kids, Shinee and Ateez are good places to start.
Girl Groups: Blackpink, Red Velvet, (G)I-DLE and Twice are probably worth checking out (besides the awesomeness that is Dreamcatcher ofc....)
Solo artists: IU and Bibi might be some complete polar opposites worth looking into.
K pop is a whole new world, nothing like Band-Maid. Dreamcatcher are also top dancers, but all K-pop groups dance.
They all dance, but they all aren't in Dreamcatcher's league.
The ending of the song is the beginning of the next song Good Night. I always appreciate reactors who have an understanding of music.
(And that's not even counting their previous incarnation, Minx.)
Just discovered you with this reaction, and you bet I subscribed immediately. Big bonus to find you've also done a couple of Rolling Quartz! 👑❤💎 (Saw them in Seattle, May 2023!)
Love the musical knowledge you bring to your reactions!
Scream/Boca/Odd Eye. Trust me. And then, if you want your mind absolutely blown, AFTER you see those 3, do "Love Shake" by a group called Minx.
They have a song called piri. Piri is a korean type of flute.
When the guitar kicks in lol
Oh, cool! 🔥 Dreamcatcher is the only K-pop group I regularly listen to. Elements of rock and metal + excellent pop vocalists.
Insomnia for life!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yeah their videos has a story, and they thematically follow a story.
Welcome to the Cult!
드림캐쳐는 K-pop 독보적인 락 메탈 컨셉으로 이 걸그룹을 대신 할수 있는 그룹은 없습니다
Welcome to the Dreamworld. As other's have noted all of Dreamcatcher's title tracks use at least some rock and metal elements. This use of rock was pretty much non-existent in Kpop from 2005 until Dreamcatcher's debut with Chase Me because of a scandal in which a couple of fans of a punk rock band called RUX got naked on live TV making the genre largely anathema outside of clubs in South Korea.
Of particular interest to you as a flute player might be Dreamcatcher's later title track Piri since it refers to and uses the Korean wooden flute called the piri.
the guy killed them and theyre getting their revenge
Add "reaction" instead of reacts to your title. This helps your video appear to those looking for reaction videos.
I highly recommend Piri by Dreamcatcher.
Typical of Kpop is the Verse Chorus Verse Chorus Rap Section Chorus.
Cool! :)
If you like Boy Groups..... do this 90s Latin Boy Band
The Barrio Boyzz, Una Vez Mas live.
Hy ilekme💘
You would love Red Velvet’s ‘Psycho’
To be fair, everyone does so it’s a pretty safe bet.
VERY GOOD YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY - COME IN JUST DON'T LOCK THE DOOR BEHIND YOU - NEXT GOOD NIGHT
