    She seems perfectly qualified for this job and I wish her much success. As she stated, the winners need to recognize the losers in globalization. If they continue to fail, everyone will.

    It seems to me (layperson) that in the event of a US default of any length of time it would spur the world to consider a basket of currencies instead of the dollar as the premier currency.
    This would dramatically affect the ability to sell treasury notes on the open market to other countries, so-called institutional buyers.
    Am I wrong?

    With all respect to this women that is reasonable and highly educated I have couple of questions. You are all talking about reducing inflation, fighting energy prices but the reality is so different from the words. Utility bills are going up and up. If you have modelled a scenario of de globalisation and found that it would initially cots you 1.5 trillion. Why haven't you made a model on projected long term gains of regionalisation and fragmenting into other types of markets that are based on true economic laws? You haven't done that and I would like to hear more about that. Surely, any potential transformation has their "transformational costs" in the beginning. Let's see how the balancing act of the "integrated economy" policy adjustment impact the life of ordinary people.

  • @bargen44
    @bargen44 Год назад

    Kristalina explains lightly the that globalization produced winners and losers. Losers usually on merging corrupted countries receiving loans that weren´t be used to develop infrastructure but to simulate investment and taking a big cut for politicians. That's a factor that has to be carefully reviewed in the execution by IMF. Debts are now unpayable for this poor countries with rich politicians that authorized IMF loans. Also, how are they going to fix the never ending US debt?

    The only reason deglobalization (I prefer to call it localization) would remove money from the economy is because you're cutting out the middle men who don't add any value to our society other than making thigs cost more for their so-called services. Producing and selling goods locally also cuts down on carbon emissions from having to transport products around the world.

    • @setransou
      @setransou Год назад

      Im not trying to attack you personally but localization does lack the net efficiencies of globalization. The problem is that globalization’s efficiencies have produced high specialization among individual countries and it, along with industrialization are utterly dependent on low cost fossil fuels to exist. Our large global population is only possible due to this.
      IF we were to go back to localization, we would have to do it VERY gradually to avoid mass disruption. Mass disruptions would include a mass die off for individuals and populations from starvation. (Food is highly globalized) To drop the population we would have to give up a LOT of the modern comforts. We also would have to go to a one child policy like China along with a myriad of other extreme social measures to reduce population.
      Given that this would have to occur under a centralized power like a highly advanced A.I., communism, a fascist dictator or some combination of the above, invariably there would be a something akin to the Mao’s cultural revolution, Stalin’s purge or Hitler’s final solution that would occur because humanity, as a whole, has no ability to self regulate.
      Localization sounds great, but our big house of cards would come crashing down hard and society would collapse.

    • @the_freebeard
      @the_freebeard Год назад

      @@setransou I have my suspicions about where you gained your world view; but it's irrelevant because the demographic trends simply don't support your argument.

      A region can produce more of some things, but it’s going to be very limited. Seasonal vegetables and fruits of course. But, many people want fruits and vegetables in winter now. Pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. It can only be produced economically in limited places. Autos, airplanes….same thing. Too much is produced in PRC and Asia. Some manufacturing should and is coming back to USA. Low cost cloths and shoes? Not happening unless there is a total breakdown in world trade from WW3…..

    When loans are created, it's easy for the wealthy to take advantage of the poor.
    If this woman has her way, she would help insure that there are no losers in the loan agreements.
    I.E. the wealthy would not be able to take advantage of the poor and also the other way around.
