Hi Gusto186, thanks for that haha, my dad used to do it for a living too but I didnt even ask for his help, I actually wanted to see how much I could do myself and shockingly I was even able to impress him which was well worth it for me!

I did this as well to my bmw z3. I have a built in zipper but it sorta came out when I was putting in new window. Not sure why but it did. But it never dawned on me to sew it back in. I just used heavy duty contact cement on the inside. Its still holding solid 6 months later. I really wish I had sewn it though. When and if it fails ill do it
Haha, it can be a little fiddly but when the sun is out... I dont know it kind of makes it all worth while haha. Good thing is the way I will be driving this car I dont mind having a little fiddly convertible roof because to me it all adds to the fun of owning it :)
i'm working my own e30 top conversion - i cannot figure out how to get the tonneau cover (top boot) motor loose.. I've got all the bolts off the motor from inside the trunk but the arm inside the top storage compartment has me perplexed - on the back wall center. it rotates but i cannot figure how to unscrew the them from the motor so i can pull the motor out of the trunk - can you help
Mate can you let me know where do i plug the green wire from coil i took immobiliser out now im stuck also some cables from boot that was wires for convertible motor but was took of from previous owner? My car dont start now im stuck no fuel no spark no icv but if i jump wire from coil to battery all good but dont start
Once sealed up I think they are fine. But my car has spent a lot of time inside the garage after the install so I'm not the best to say what its been like all year round etc
Love your video , thinking about doing the same. Could you please let me know what is the right zip I should get , and where did you get the plastic window? Cheers
Hi Jian, yeah sure thing the ZIP size is 8, I have a link to one in the description if you wanted to see what it was like, and I got the screen off ebay (also linked in the description) I hope that helps you with your build!
lol... you would hate to see how my E30 is now then, but I do work on a lot of customer cars now, just doing other things. This was when I did things only for me.
hi mate, sadly only been able to find this one. Will keep an eye out if others become available.: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rear-Window-With-Zip-Fastener-For-BMW-3-Series-E30-Convertible-54318207804/202085217949?hash=item2f0d37b69d:g:18EAAOSwSlBY0ofe
What if I make that window from strong material and add a zipper wouldn't that be even cheaper ,also add something like tiger seal ,think I'm going to go that route ,these windows ain't cheap no more £159

Fingers crossed your set up keeps strong as long as possible but yeah it's well worth doing that next time round!
Nice work.. I'm so glad I've got a coupe the soft tops look fiddly 😄

The top is the only fiddly thing, there's no quality difference between the coupes and verts or wagons
