    I just bought one. I love this mower. The mulch insert came installed and can be removed easily to insert the leaf bag. The bag fits onto the frame with hard plastic covering sections that you must lift to fit onto the frame. Very light and fun to use with lights. Mine cost me $425. It is not self propelled, some are though. I store the charger and battery inside my house with the mower in the garage. Temperature impacts all batteries so don’t let them get extreme heat or cold. It is the Tesla of mowers. No oil, gas, spark plugs fumes and very little noise.

    Well done in the review! Mine is about 3 years old now. Ego has had to replace it three times. The other machines just stopped working. This third machine has been three seasons now. It does get bogged down in thick grass if mulching. So I have to bag a lot. 😕. I also purchased a Honda gas mower for times I need more power. I now hear that the new Ego mower is more powerful and increases the torque when there is resistance due to thick grass.

      Joe Shagger Sure, it's a nice light mower to push. If it normally take you more than 40 min of mowing time, I'd buy an extra battery otherwise, you'll be fine.

  • @EverydayReviews2022
    @EverydayReviews2022  10 лет назад

    You're probably right grabir. Chances are next to nil of it starting by itself without the safety key depressed and the lever at the same time. The EGO only comes in a push mower configuration so if self propelled is a must for you, this one will not be your first choice. It is quite a bit lighter than a gas mower though. If your not sure about it, do what I did, buy one and try it out. You have 90 days to try it from Home Depot. Thanks for the comment.

    Thanks for the video. I just ordered this and an extra 4Ah Battery because it takes about an hour to cut our lawn. Also ordered the weed wackier w 2Ah batt,, blower and trimmer. spent $1300.00 in all. I'm thinking the batteries just for the mower will cost another $400.00 in 4 years unless they come down in price. (I Hope) That's about $100 a year which is 3X more then I would have spent on maintenance (per year) for the $850 Honda I was going to buy which also had a 5year warranty. I just hope I made the right choice. I guess if it don't work for my lawn or I don't like it I can take it back to home depot. I like the idea of not having all the parts and adjustments that are involved with a premium gas mower so I have high hopes for this simple looking machine.

    All high end gas mowers are self propelled. I think that is the only big feature this one is missing over the gas ones on the market. If you have a bigger lawn with hills the self propelled could be a big advantage.

  • @tech29X
    @tech29X 5 лет назад

    80Volt Kobalt is a better mower. Allot of people seem to confuse AmpHours with Amperes as in electrical current. All else being equal, an appliance with a large AmpHour battery should run longer, similar to a car with a larger gas tank. However, the size of the gas tank does not determine the engine output. Down side of AmpHours is that it will weigh heavier. With a higher voltage dual battery setup you can get better performance and you won't have to push around a heavier, high amp hour battery. You can power the mower with one battery while the other is topping off. Most folks turn off their mowers when switching from back yard to the front. This would be an ideal time to swap to the secondary 80v battery and drink some water. You should re-hydrate every 20-30 minutes anyhow, a battery swap can be done at the same time. I also have the 80volt string trimmer, so in my case i have 3 batteries and 2 chargers at my disposal, so practically i could keep mowing till I keel over from heat exhaustion. Happy mowing everyone!!! Here's a video comparing Kobalt 80Volt vs. Ego 56V that can explain the differences of the two ruclips.net/video/aItT8xrD32Y/видео.html

    Is it advisable to leave the battery off the charger until an hour or so before you intend to use the mower or will it harm the battery to leave it on the charger when not in the mower? Great review!

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  8 лет назад

      +Dave Cyphert Not sure Dave. I've been using it for 2 seasons now and have had no problem. Sometimes I just leave it in the mower and charge it before I use it and other times, I'll take it out, put it on the charger and just unplug the charger once its done and just insert the battery the next time I use it. These battery's lose very little if they just sit. Probably would be best to have some juice in the battery while in storage. Thanks for watching.

    • @dannyscarpati7049
      @dannyscarpati7049 5 лет назад

      The owner's manuals say you can leave it on the charger. I take mine off and put it back in the mower when it's fully charged. I do this so when I decide to cut the grass I just go grab the mower and it's gassed up ready to go.

    • @tech29X
      @tech29X 5 лет назад

      The short answer is: it would be best not to leave the battery on the charger.
      Batteries using Lithium chemistry are best stored around 60% charge capacity for long term storage and longevity. And, even though charger and battery have numerous safeties built in to protect from over charge, etc., we have seen even best ones can fail and cause fire, as in the case of Boeing 787 being grounded and Samsung Galaxy Note 7 batteries catching on fire.

    Do the instructions say you can't clean it with water or is that an assumption? Electrically driven devices can be engineered to be tolerant of water. Since that's a cordless lawn mower and its use cases 100% include being rained on, it should be water tolerant. But... neither I nor the company I used to work for (who would surely design for that case) designed it so I don't know.

      @@dannyscarpati7049 No, I'm basing it on immutable laws of physics and my experience, and those 2 numbers (56 vs. 80). I use one battery to mow the back yard, and use the second battery to do side and front while the first one is topping off. Never ran out of battery. 80 volts spins the blade faster and gets the job done, even when the grass is wet or tall. 80 volts mows better, that's the bottom line.

    • @tech29X
      @tech29X 5 лет назад

      @@dannyscarpati7049 If you install a TRUCK battery on your EGO it will run even longer, but you will be pushing around DEAD weight that you won't need. Take a moment to digest what I wrote earlier before replying. Just watch the reviews, Kobalt mows better while EGO is leaving clumps. I think your EGO is hurt and you're in denial. Where do you get 2800RPM figure, did you factor in how quickly Kobalt responds to different grass lengths and and how fast it ramps up the blade spin. EGO just chugs along. Again, I use one battery for back yard and another for side and front yard without having to push around excessive dead weight of a battery and get done moving fast with 80volts. End of story.

    • @tech29X
      @tech29X 5 лет назад

      @@dannyscarpati7049 Yes, no load speed is set at 2800RPM, just like your car is idling at 700RPM doesn't mean it's limited to that speed. What I said earlier; at 80volts Kobalt responds quicker to load and ramps up the blade spin to even higher than EGO. Don't be sorry, EGO is not a bad mower. 4 years ago it was innovative and probably the first commercially available, viable battery operated mower. Anything before it was under powered or had some other short coming compared to gas and I consider EGO set the standard where all other battery operated mowers are measured against. Why do you think most review compare all sorts of brands to EGO? I have all sorts of "grass" growing in my back yard. When I don't mow 3-4 weeks, tree shoots start appearing and Kobalt does a fine job mowing them. I'm no expert on grass, I just mow it every so often and I don't need my mower to be all bells and whistles. I consider it a tool like a pair of pliers and Kobalt lacks the refined details of EGO but it performs it's duty of mowing the "field" very well. Don't ignore my sentiments on dual battery, to me it suits better. I had heavier self propelled mowers previously and it becomes a chore maneuvering and pulling back in tight quarters next to the fence or around flower beds, humping over tree roots and around ornaments, electrical boxes etc... Dual battery keeps the setup lighter and more maneuverable. Every one has a different setup that works for them. All things considered I chose Kobalt 80 volt on a proven no nonsense platform.

    • @tech29X

      @@dannyscarpati7049 I try to mow the lawn every weekend but last summer we had very heavy downpours back to back or we were away and grass/weed mixture went unchecked for 3-4 weeks. Regardless, Kobalt plowed through 8"-12" growth. My previous mower, a Ryobi 40 volt would struggle on that. I wish the telescoping handle of EGO was adjustable at different lengths, that would be a useful feature.
