  • Footage of an awesome looking squall line in southwestern Wisconsin on July 5th, 2022. The storm brought with it frequent lightning, strong winds and heavy rains. Storms in the region were fueled by extreme instability on the order of 5500 j/kg of CAPE (owing to temps in the 90s and dewpoints in the upper 70s/low 80s), as well as moderate wind shear.

I really like the calm as it's approaching. Can hear Red Winged Blackbirds though. Very territorial. The storm was pretty interesting too!

Thanks for watching! This was one of my favorite chases of 2022, mainly because of the peacefulness of the environment as I sat and watched the storm approach for about 30 mins. Not another soul anywhere in site during the entire intercept! I love the call of red-winged blackbirds, one of my favorites to start hearing again in spring!

@@MidwestStormChasing Nobody else? That is ideal for chasing. Ever see some of the chasers where they are all in one area? El Reno 2013 take for example. Just had my first thunderstorms of the year 2 nights ago, and this year started out like a lion. Gonna try to upload tonight, maybe tomorrow.

I love the contrast between the golden wheat field and the color of the clouds, it was really a cool scene. Thanks for watching!

Thank you very much! This was one of my favorite chases of 2022 because of how beautiful and peaceful everything was while I sat there watched this storm slowly approach for almost an hour.

I hate that there's always a ton of fractus and low level clouds preceding a shelf cloud; it would be cool to see the actual cumulonimbus body approaching.

Damn I wanna see this stuff in rellife. A camera just can't capture the magnitude....it does maybe 40% justice? What would you say?

Yeah, cameras definitely don't do justice to storm chasing. There are so many things you see, hear, smell, feel, etc. when you're out there in the elements that you don't get to experience while watching a video unfortunately. I do my best to capture everything I can though!
