    What an awesome furball! I usually just panics out and do something stupid in such scenarios. First time in months I actually want to play this game again, it has been too long. Too bad nobody plays it anymore :( Those pups sure are fragile! I remember doing an S turn in one of those at a shallow dive, tore the wings right off! xD

    If you´d run out of ammo, you were close enough to smack the last plane´s pilot in the face.

    Wowsers...those Pups fold up like tissue paper. O_O Very nice gameplay footage. =)
    I'm just starting with this game and I'm curious; how does the Pfalz D.III compare to other German fighters like the Albatros D.Va and Fokker Dr.I?

    • @baronkobayashi3294
      @baronkobayashi3294  10 лет назад +1

      Out of the three you mentioned, I'd have to say that the Albatros D.Va is the more balanced of the bunch in terms of maneuverability, speed, and visibility. The Pfalz D.III is good but suffers from bad visibility IMO, as the wing is near eye level in your forward field of view. The Dr.I is just too dainty for my tastes.
      I hope you enjoy the game! I'm just getting into it myself. Multiplayer is MUCH more challenging than single player, but you'll still get a nice adrenaline rush if you try out the campaign.

      I see; thank you for the reply. =)
      I was curious because many sources mention structural weakness in the Albatros D.III/D.Va and state that the Pfalz D.III--while slower in level flight--could dive and turn at high speed without risk. Is that the case in-game?

    • @CentralShoots
      @CentralShoots 10 лет назад +1

      I personally like the pfalz dIIIa the most of said aircraft. It has the best dive speed by far and is quite maneuverable if you remember to use your rudder. For fast turns pull up in a slight roll into the turn and kick hard rudder. Basically a modified hammerhead turn.

    • @Supercalle10
      @Supercalle10 10 лет назад

      ***** I prefer it too, it can hang on its propeller and have great low speed handling which is great as it bleeds energy very quickly. You can fight against a Camel for a few turns but you will likely be overwhelmed soon as the Camel withholds energy much better. Ofc a really bad Camel pilot will just stall out during such maneuvers, (personal experience).

    • @CentralShoots
      @CentralShoots 10 лет назад +1

      Supercalle10 I have found ways of dealing with even experienced camel pilots whilst utilizing the DIIIa. First off I don't get into a flat turning fight to begin with (gives them the advantage). While it is a challenge at times; I find that forcing them into a scissor is the best option in a altitude sensitive fight. If the camel dives I go into a shallow climbing hard turn inside theirs before diving on and rake the top of the aircraft as they come back up. If the camel climbs into a turn; I dive slightly going out side of the turn before pulling up into the aircraft and raking the soft underbelly or empennage. When fighting a camel the point is not to deliver a decisive blow with your initial attack but to wound it badly enough to finish it off with your second or third volley. Once wounded they become quite a bit more dosile. For anyone attempting these techniques I would suggest practicing on AI's (in "ACE" configuration) first to get an idea of the timing before flying other experienced players in camels. It take a good bit of skill, but so does being a camel pilot. ;-)

      Yar, the D.III is one of my favorites as well. From what I've read It was disliked by many of its pilots, but it works well enough in-game and, honestly, there's just something about its aesthetics that really pleases me.
      My absolute favorite aircraft of the era is definitely the Junkers J.I though. I really hope they decide to add it to the game someday.

      ok cause i am used to using the mouse in war thunder also why are the mg so weak in this game? you shoot them so much and after 200 rounds(estimating) you can rip the wing off

      Small calibre guns,planes mostly empty space (just holes in canvas damage) but perhaps most important- look up how to centre guns/sight on forums (many bullets possibly not hitting where you think)
      - I'm new to this too though : )

    Nice flying, though it strikes me that a WWI plane wouldn't have had that amount of ammunition. Maybe I'm overestimating the length/number of your bursts, but I thought they had c. 30 seconds-worth of firing, in total.

    • @grantgarrod2232
      @grantgarrod2232 Год назад

      The issue Spandau MG fired 450 rpm, but up to 600 rpm if fitted with a muzzle booster. The Albatross had a standard combat load of 500 rounds per gun, which would give a minimum total firing time of 50 seconds, & a max of 66 seconds. While those are the real world stats, some games have an "unlimited ammo" option available in the menu, which may be the case here.

      Some of the planes, except for Nieuport 28 (AGAIN!!!), had their FMs modified. So now it's actually possibly to outturn Albies in Pup, Triplane and Nieuport 17. As for Dfalz D3a:
      5. Adjusted: Pfalz D.3a FM - Reduced of turn rate
      6. Adjusted: Pfalz D.3a FM - Speed increased

    1. Too easy. A few hits in a wing and the wing breaks off?
    2. Is everyone flying German planes? Are they easier to fly or what? I hate the bastards.

    • @Supercalle10
      @Supercalle10 10 лет назад +8

      1. The damage system is not balanced for what feels right, it's an accurate simulation of the durability of the aircraft. These kites couldn't handle much stress and a few rounds could be enough to rip the wings off in a combination with air pressure. (depending on aircraft)
      2. Again the aim was historical accuracy so the kites are roughly as good as they were, which means one side will have an advantage over the other depending on what time period you are participating in. (most servers have a set time period where you can choose from a variety of aircrafts available). That being said it's a skill focused game, the better you are, the better the odds of winning. :)

      May I remind you that these were basically "paper planes" with guns slapped on the front...

    • @TheSovjetCat
      @TheSovjetCat 10 лет назад +4

      Well, you should know that most, if not all WW1 aircraft are built with wooden frames, covered with canvas or wooden fuselage. The engines back in the day couldn't handle much. Such material doesn't stand up too well against gun fire. There doesn't seem to be any incendiary ammunition in this game so you're actually looky that no one can ignite your entire airframe.
      WW1 aircraft are also extremely agile, a few rounds can destroy them but don't underestimate the act of actually getting on someones six.
      Also, the German planes were pretty damn good. Back then it was the only nation who, before the war started, that aircraft could fulfill a combat role and were one of the first to operate fighter and bomber aircraft. Manfred von Richthofen, aka The Red Baron, was a good pilot, but his plane, the Dutch/German designed Fokker dr.1 was just as good. When it was introduced, the Allies spoke of the 'Fokker Scourge' for a while because none of their planes could defeat it.
      Mind you, airplanes also had only existed 6 years when WW1 started.
      6 years! Before WW1 it was all Wright Flyers and Man-powered Ornithopters.

    • @slpkntmggt06
      @slpkntmggt06 10 лет назад +3

      TheSovjetCat
      Actually, the Fokker Scourge was from mid-1915 to early-1916, and was the result of the Fokker E.III Eindecker being the only airplane at the time fitted with a synchronized machine gun. British planes were being shot from the sky by pilots in the Eindecker almost faster than they could be replaced. The Fokker Scourge ended when the Nieuport 11 and Airco DH2 were developed, and evened the playing field.
      Other than that, your post is spot on!!

      Wings breaking off in a few hits doesn't make it easy. You've gotta remember it's just as easy for them to break yours off...
