I think Inertia getting his speed stolen by wally west to the point of becoming a living statue ,taking a century just to blink, all while still being fully conscious and able to see,hear and think in normal time,placed in a museum literally dedicated to the person he hates most and forced to look at "The ghost of the man HE would NEVER BE" should be included if a second one of these is made.
Regular speed has to already be horrible for a speedster, but having to live your whole life as the opposite of what was your nature? Absolute torture.
Flash stealing the speed from Inertia and having him be displayed as a statue although he can still think, see, and hear in normal time. Takes him somewhere around 100 years to even blink.
Kinda surprised the Omega Sanction got left off the list. Dying an infinite amount of times, with each life getting worse. When the Third Mister Miracle got put in the Sanction, his first life featured assault, burning, castration, addiction and mutilation. And that's the "best" live in the sanction.

Instead of giving him powers over metal he became a living magnet. Throughout his life he had to wear a harness dampening his abilities, but it wasn’t enough. He ended up pulling every piece of metal within a massive radius, and was ultimately killed by pulling a plane out of the sky, crushing him

Being sealed in a pod constantly tortured and reminded of your failure for however long it could keep you alive... That girl Proxima Midnight sent after Sam Alexander (Nova).
Being Sui-San... mother of Thanos, seeing him on birth she tried to kill him, was confined to an insane asylum, live long enough to be vivisected by Thanos without even being able to scream or move... forgotten forever after.

From I remember, Mr. Miracle was hit by a car, tortured, castrated, and set ablaze for his FIRST death within Darkseid’s Omega Sanction. Now imagine what the progressively worse deaths are after that?
Also in a Batman comic, It turns out Gotham is a super evil place because of a warlock summoned an Omega Sanction under the city itself, so the city was in its own state of torture and suffering.
I immediately thought of Diavolo when I saw the title.

Speaking purely from memory, there is a Judge Dredd comic book where he is chasing some guy who cant die because the rocks in a cave keep him alive. Dredd cuts his head off, puts it on a rock and says words to the tune of "the sentence is life"...
That reminded me of another good one: In "God Hates Astronauts", the main character, Star Fighter got damn nearly beaten to death by his enemy, John L. Sullivan, but since he's immortal, it just swoll his head to disturbing proportions, getting it (literally) popped by Texas Tom, and having to slice off what's left of it to replace it with that of a ghost cow head.
You are talking about the Judgement Day story. The guy was Sabbat the Necromage, who's decapitated head was forever kept alive by the crystal he had used to reanimate the worlds dead corpses.
Ghost Rider: I used the Penance Stare to make the sinners feel the pain & Agony of their victims.
Spawn: I made a KKK leader Black, Banished God & Lucifer from Earth, and made a child beater tattooed with "I beat my kids".

ghost rider wins hands down spawn is creative well ok not really he just did what we all want to see happen to them but the rider there is no escape. think about the pain you caused your mother or grandmother thats the same kind of pain you will feel for all eternity (this is assuming of course you have a good family)

Don't get me wrong though, I love both characters and I do agree, if you really think about it, spawn is another Ghost Rider type of character...both the whole ' deal with a devil for the sake of a lovedone but screwed' with supernatural powers!

You forgot to add in Sabretooth. The Xmen imprisoned him deep underground in Krakoa for eternity. Kept alive and always fully aware but unable to move because the Island itself has a grip on his body

Edit for those who don’t know: So basically the penance stare is an ability that the Ghost Rider has that makes you relive all the pain and suffering (both physical and emotional) that you’ve inflicted on others. The more pain you inflicted on others the worse it is for you.

I was expecting Darksied’s Omega Sanction. Infinite number of lives that progressively get worse and worse as you live them? No reset switch, just endless torture that you aren’t even aware of. That is pretty brutal

Not a comic, but there is a SCP - I forgot the number - that is basically a little girl, that has to be raped by multiple guys daily, or else the world ends. Additionaly, the poor girl has to be fully aware of everything - no drugs, no pain killers, nothing - and it has her memory wiped every now and than, as to not get used to the daily procedure and experience the horror always anew.

I’ve always found the 3 genie wishes/immortality interesting. I know people would be hesitant to use 2 wishes, but if you’re gonna wish for immortality, you should also wish that you have an escape to die at anytime. Heck, if someone is smart about it, they should use all 3 wishes around immortality, one to live forever, one to become mortal again if they wish to, and the last one having to deal with eternal prosperity/happiness. Maybe the last one could be somehow worked into just asking for immortality by wishing for eternal happiness or something like that, but I feel as if it would be very easy to live forever and be happy with the concept of 3 genie wishes
1: Immortality 2: Time-Travel (so you can be with loved ones any time you want and relive your life many different ways) 3: A "Kill-switch" ability to terminate yourself if you feel the need.
Or just wish to be a god, then you can make up all the rules yourself

In the first Sandman (Dream) series, Sandman punishes the person responsible for imprisoning him before, by giving him "eternal awakening", or something. Basically, this person wakes up from a horrific nightmare, just to realize he is in another nightmare, and so on, living in an always changing nightmare.
i've never heard in full detail how the pennance stare works,but now that i have,it reminds me of how Galbatorix was defeated in the Inheritance cycle
A lot of these are gruesome and definitely feel like Nebula's torture was seriously aweful...

In one of the Marvel UK books, MyS-Tech holds Nick Fury captive, in a "da Vinci sphere (bubble?)".
Inside the sphere, one gets flayed alive, body ans soul. Also, time is slowed down to an almost halt.
Essentially, he has his soul flayed for almost all eternity.
I’ve said it before and by gawd I’m gonna say it again:

Eternity is but a state of mind. The penance stare may be instant and for a few seconds, but feel like a million suns passing overhead.

I was gonna say something about superman (if that is superman) clearly hearing through the phantom zone, but then I remembered that superman once heard a watch on earth, while he was light years away, in space, somewhere...That in itself is insane, but also remember that sound doesn't travel through a vacuum, so Superman's senses just don't follow rules. If that is superman in the phantom zone, I accept that he can see, hear & feel in it.
