You need a proper fuel pump for K-Jetronic. Those things run with 5.8 bar system pressure. Fuel injectors are poppet valves and won't even open under 3 bar.

Agreed, they need a better pump than that, at least iirc 60psi. Any of the components in the system could have seized, starting valve, fuel distributor, control pressure regulator etc.
K jetronic, was an awsome setup, and easy to fix, if you had an idea how it worked
At least it's not D-Jetronic. A primitive version of EFI best know for being fitted to the Volvo 164E. Even most mechanics can't get their head around it.

The Merc never had a chance of starting with that low pressure fuel pump, fuel system needs at least 50psi before the injectors start spraying
I had the same engine in my w116 but with carburetor
