I'm the CFO of a medium sized company. Sometimes I tell people I'm in an important meeting but I'm just listening to him while playing Minecraft in my office
Im just picturing Dark as a parent and when his kid(s) ask him “Dad can you read me a bedtime story?” And then he just grins and chuckles to himself like a madman.
Imagine if he was just like, "listen to my youtube videos boy, I already performed it perfectly once, I'm not gonna do it again!" & just sticks them with a tablet each time lol
Love how the story begins with him not wanting to be a fisherman because one mistake can cost your life or the lives of others, and ends up with a job that can cost more lives than any fishing job ever could
See this, THIS is how you write a mysterious antagonistic monster. A lot of Creepypasta writers try to do the Lovecraftian trope of keeping the creature mysterious and end up thoroughly describing it and going deep into its nature. That's OK; I like that but if you want mysterious and Lovecraftian, this is how you do it.
Another thing i love about this story is that they left THE CORRECT questions unanswered. Ive heard alot of stories where they tried to keep it mysterious and end up making the mistake of the story just not making any sense cause they didn't answer a bunch of really mundane things. This story was perfect in that i still dont know what tf happened, but i understand whatever is was, its bad and I dont wanna know anymore.
@@nejsonsvejson9861 Its like when they introduce some detail as if its important to the story, and it never gets explained. Imagine if in this story, think of that grave the old dude made for the first people to die. Well Imagine if after the main character accidentally didnt turn on the light, the old dude never showed up, and instead he just figured out what happened on his own. The grave never gets explained, and the old dude never tells us he had experiencedced it before. Yeah we can "Theorize" that's what the grave is for, but still it shouldve been answered. Leaving something like the grave and the old mans backstory unanswered feels dumb and lazy because the mystery is the giant sky demon, not the old man. I hope that makes sense?
Lazy copout, idk why mofo’s horror media don’t take shit seriously, straight up stupid, or have to put their hand on the stove to know it will burn them.
I was ok with it until he was like “to be fair I was kinda dragging ass”. Like dude. It’s the most important, times sensitive chore you have that day. And it’s just turning on a light. Move with a purpose!
You know maybe they should consider hiring a few extra backup groundskeepers, that whole town is kind of screwed if that dude has a heart attack or gets in a car accident. Or maybe even hire an engineer to rig up an automated lamp system with an extra large fuel reserve that just needs occasional maintenance.
I imagine things like heart conditions would be covered in the contract you could say it would be odd for this guy to not mention it, but remember he said "it was nothing I hadn't seen as a fisherman." and that "one bad call could kill someone" thing he said near the start, I imagine a heart attack would have the same effect.
@@Cheshire5174 Even without existing heart troubles you can have a sudden attack, there's no contract that can protect from the unknown future. @@KeithKVH Agreed. You'd think, at a minimum, there'd be the caretaker and his family and a nightly reminder/verification call. Or, just have an AI turn the light on. But, how many books/movies would last more than 10-minutes if we didn't turn off half of our brain? 🤭
When the monster was introduced it remained mysterious yet the terror and danger it brought was so clear. I'm hearing a lot of cosmic horror this past weeks and I like it.
