You wish it was this simple. But look up "hacking kernel level anti cheats" it's some video of someone hacking valorant but the info says everything. They need someone like destroyer2009 on their staff to ward hackers off. If the current people programming the cheats are better at abusing the code, then the original devs/security team. It's hopeless there will always be a work around. It's only time.

they clearly could have just not pause the tournament after 2 games. More games getting hacked = they can find out more information and proofs on how Destroyer2009 was able to hijack clients without access to EA servers. But i think EA didnt want the cheat dev to get any more publicity so it makes sense to just stop the tournament

This shows that not only Apex needs hardened anticheat, but this is also a Zero-Day exploit being showcased - a possible vector for Remote Code Execution.
Respawn should take this seriously (and at worst-case scenario, take the game down for now), because anyone playing the game right now is at risk of being hacked.

@ValentinCoder you should read either a different Google result, or read the whole paragraph. A zero-day exploit is something that exists in the code before it releases. You've heard of day one patches? Zero-day exploits are just bugs that exist before day one.
This is a zero day. As far as I know it existed in the engine before they built the game off it, but even then, I think that's using an incorrect definition. In opsec we say zero day to refer to exploits that allow attackers to gain root access, usually to a server, but in this case a personal OS. Regular (non zero day) exploits of this type are limited to a specific app. People assume that just because they saw a simple aimbot, that it's limited to Apex itself, but that's incorrect. The fact is that to make an imgui window to come up with the ability to create remote threads, has to (by definition) use windows APIs with full permissions. So they could have made their PC a glorified crypto miner, or stole everything on it, which they might have. Hence, why professionals in this sector recommended the players immediately reinstall their OS and change all of their passwords. This isn't a joke.@@janitorizamped

Sweet, this is called Remote Code Execution. If the code on the client and server is shit, destroyer can figure out a way to smuggle code onto Genburten’s computer.
Game 3 is probably gonna be chalked too since those bow shots from gen killed E8 Zap that were playing from NORTH Barometer

I will say, Destroyer doing this the way he/she is, is ironically lucky. HisWattson said it best, if Destroyer didn’t make it obvious it was him doing it, it would’ve put GENBURTENs reputation and career at MAJOR risk.
My only question is…how do we know this isn’t the same hacker from before (Tefu)? From the recent series of hacks from Destroyer, they seem to be pretty similar to Tefu’s hacks in terms of how totally insane they are…than interrupting ALGS games. The one thing that isn’t something Tefu did was actually hack a persons PC that we are aware of, but honestly, it does seem like something Tefu would do too with making it incredibly obvious.

The whole tournament is compromised, there was crazy lag, and players disconnecting. Unless EA can prove it wasn't the hacker causing this the tournament needs restarted.
remember those BO2 infection menus. It looks like a modified version of that. So hacker can give anyone a pre configured mod menu through the game. In Black Ops 2, it was theater mode infection menus. You watch the clip, you get the menu to use. I imagine this is similar, basically injecting the hack mid game.
I think DZ handled this extremely well given the circumstances though game 3 might have to be replayed too

We've known for years that some cheaters can see who are playing on what servers so it's not exactly strange that someone eventually found a way to take that to the next level. An exploit that leads to full remote access to everything is EXACTLY what people have been warning about for years regarding ring 0 anti cheats. And just having a poorly thought out net code and server infrastructure could very easily lead to user level access.

@@teejay1646 then tell us how it works pls. you think they can easily install anything through apex server and steam/origin updates packed in the game files or the anti cheat? there are so many things which can block u from doing this and you literally leave traces if u do something like this. the easiest and most likely way is that they somehow (clicking on links, etc... or they just had the cheat installed which has rce feature lol) got a malware which granted rce to the hacker, but it has nothing to do with apex.

Someone in the lobby is likely giving their server ip to the hacker to troll and mentally tilt the others. There's simply no other way to grab a specific private server ip for someone who isn't in the game.
