    I'll show what I have bought over the weekend, plus some footage of the fair itself and the journey from Victoria station.

    You call that a short walk? It seemed like a long walk to me 😅 Anyway, this was a very interesting video just to discover the differences between that fair and the only one that happens twice a year here in Portugal, basically in Lisbon in the old part or town. It's for free though, but it's not as big as the one you showed in this video and never queues up. But the prices are never down, always up. But still I manage to find good deals. Cheers

    I used to go to the Liverpool Street Stn. record shows back in the early 1980's. They had at least 125 vendors that brought a great range of titles we want. Also Camden Town used to have some excellent record shows.

    I was laughing at your walk to the record fair. You said it's only a short walk, but even sped up it seemed a long way. I like the Cocteau Twins, the 4AD label put out some excellent music back in the 1980s, and they were one of the best groups recording with that label. This Mortal Coil were another. What a good haul of records.

    I know a fair amount about Colin Scot. His actual last name was Thistlethwaite, his parents were Americans, he spoke nearly a dozen languages comfortably. He started out in Scotland (hence the stage name) singing Buddy Holly and Fleetwoods tunes with his guitar atop a stool in pubs. The album you have here was recorded before it was shopped to UA, who were thrilled they could release it even after it barely sold (but was seen as a prestige release). Colin was a high-liver who drank himself to death in the late 1990s when he would have been in his late fifties.

      Hi Thom, thank you for this interesting info. Good to hear some facts on artists who don't get the attention, even of the collectors circuit.
      I've only just started playing the Colin Scott album since purchase. Some decent moments on it, although it maybe lacking the musicianship I was expecting considering who backed him - that's just my opinion though. A decent album nevertheless.

    An interesting video clip of the interior of the Royal Horticultural Society's headquarters in Victoria, George. I went to a mycological do there many years ago. You seem to be doing well in finding what you want at the right price there. The vinyl gods haven't smiled upon me for a long time. ☹

    Some great pick ups.... Well done on the Camel debut! ... I just have the "Rainbow" label version and German reissue with different sleeve. Fingerprintz where a great wee band, check out their previous album to this "Distinguishing Marks"... it's excellent. I think they morphed into The Silencers (also well worth checking out).... I've just subbed your channel.... keep the great content coming!!!!

      Hi Ronnie, thanks so much for subbing. I have Distinuishing Marks but have not spun for a while, this will hopefully renew the interest. I also picked up their debut last last week which should feature in my next vid (spoiler alert!!!)
      That Camel debut is great, still doesn't top Mirage for me which is an all time fave.
      Thanks again and take care!

      Hi Thomas. If honest, I don't recall seeing any 78s at all. There may have been the odd one here and there, but no specific stalls selling them exclusively. Most of these fairs seems to focus on 12" albums and some 7" singles.

    Got the MC5 album when it was released, did you buy that for £35? You should see a You Tube vlog on a live open air concert they did in 1970, one of the best wild rock shows you’ll ever see! You don’t always quote the prices you payed, very frustrating

    • @georgeprior-vinylshowtell4934
      @georgeprior-vinylshowtell4934  Год назад +1

      Hi Roy, I got £5 off this so £30 technically and it is a lovely copy. Thank you for the head up on the footage.
      I don't tend to quote prices to be honest, unless it it an absolute bargain that I feel needs a mention. However will bear this in mind for future finds vids.

    I was always surprised why London didn't do a huge record fair like the one that used to happen in Utrecht. It seems that the London fair is getting smaller as the years go by. The Discogs effect perhaps?

    • @georgeprior-vinylshowtell4934
      @georgeprior-vinylshowtell4934  Год назад

      Whilst it's still well worth a visit, it's nowhere near as big as it used to be. It was called 'Musicmania' years back and was possibly double in size.
      There is a lack of overseas dealers these days which doesn't help the reduction in size.

      @@georgeprior-vinylshowtell4934 There used to be the Wembley Record Fair which was the largest, not quite as big as Utrecht but 10 times the size of the current Victoria.
      Here's the reason for less sellers, 1- Cost £240 for tables, then petrol, van hire, parking. 2 - Very few young vinyl sellers, (Too much like hard work). 3 - Discogs 4 - eBay (People sell their own stuff) 5 - Due to 3 & 4, dealers can't buy as many good collections to make it pay.

      @@brendanboreham4196 I went to the Wembley one years back, much bigger. As was Olympia.

      The internet generally and Discogs, eBay, RUclips etc have done the same to record fairs that they did to the bootleg market - made it even more home-spun yet with international reach (at least wherever the mail can be sent).

      There was a lack of it compared to some years. However, when you many stallholders play music at the same time, it can create a distracting white noise.
