Amazing, and a great way to stop older tablets going to landfill. I really appreciate the time you took to make this video! Awesome! :-)
Thanks Marcus! This worked BUT with some hiccups which I cover here: 1) Make sure you put the gapp and lineage zip files onto your tablet's SD card at the root level. I had to do it manually. Also make sure to get the ARM not ARM64 version, 7.1, pico. 2) When removing KNOX, you must restart your tablet FIRST or it will simply hang while running SU to delete KNOX and won't do anything. 3) After uploading TWRP to the tablet completes, I didn't get a green box, but it did complete. 4) When you restart the tablet with the intention of running TWRP, you must hold down PWR, HOME and VOL UP and you must keep holding it after the samsung splash screen shows up and disappears and reappears again. If you release it before the splashscreen reappears, you will just boot into samsung instead of TWRP. This was the part of the video where Marcus said he missed showing us the splashscreen and I guess forgot to explain that.

For those of you who got stuck at Downloading screen when booting the "TWRP". When I booted the TWRP with Odin, it took a few minutes for it to say "PASS" but on my device it still stuck at the "Downloading, do not turn off target" screen still. I left it there for like 5 mins then hit the power button to turn it off and it restarted fine. And if you're running into error 64, that means you downloaded the GAPPS "64 arm" file. You need to redownload the one with just "arm".

This is what i found Chainfire had the KOT49H.T520XXUANAE firmware build number running on the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 SM-T520 tablet when he created the rooting file (CF-AUto-Root) that is available in this guide. That firmware build number is one of the updates available for Android 4.4.2 KitKat software updates. You do not need to be running on the same firmware build number as him when you follow this guide. You just need to make sure that your Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 is running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and does come with the SM-T520 model number.

Left it somewhere really cold and eventually got it to boot back into TWRP then you have to move quick. The actual ROM flash is very quick but even then the CPU temperature was reported to have risen from around 50° to nearly 80° . Put it to cool down before you flash the GAPPS package and it should be good to go. Well worth doing because KitKat 4.4 is ancient. Better battery life too.

Help!!!!! Can you update/redo this video. I have have the same tablet and had to replace the battery and lost all the updates it use to have. Some of the files you say to download have been updated and not sure what files to use now since this video is over a year old. PLEASE HELP !!!!!
Currently (end of 2022) you need TWRP 3.5.0 (newer versions are larger than dedicated partition size) for the recovery partition and Magisk for rooting. When booting into TWRP recovery it only shows "recovery is not seandroid enforcing", but just wait a bit and it will continue. Tested today on SM-P600 (codename lt03wifi (old) resp. n1awifi (new), P600XXSDRI1_P600BTUDRI1_BTU = Android v5.1.1 Germany) with Lineage OS 18.1 v1.1, Odin v3.10.7, Samsung USB Driver v1.7.59.0, Magisk v25.2, GApps ARM/11/pico and it works beautifully! :)
Yooo Thx Marcus! I got Lineage installed. Now I just have to figure out how to download the OS to get Google Play because it wouldn't let me install the pico or stock version of the OS. Edit: Lol realized the tablet was a running on a 32bit chip, not a 64bit. Thx for the tutorial again.
My man! I've had a few hickups during the installation, not any of your fault, but I am going to name them here for other people. People don't bother (like I did at first) finding the exact same LeneageOS date, the latest version (link sends you to it) works just fine. 1. Google chrome didn't like some of the downloads, so I had to do them with edge. 2. Getting the device into twrp. Push the 3 button's, and let go the power button when logo appears. Hold on vol up + home button till logo disappears. And then trwp will show. 3. error-7 in trwp (not listened to you and only swiped once to clear) so do at least 3 times swiping to clean 4. when rebooting it takes like ages (on my device) for lineageOS to start up. And then after filling in my internet pw (says no internet connection) and seems to get stuck on updating. Just let it rolll. And THERE IT IS!!!!! DAMN. STATUE FOR YOU MAN! THANKS A LOT!!!!
Looks like my Galaxy that Marcus upgraded, notice the two black tapes on the face near the home button, to identify the location of hidden buttons. The upgrade to LinageOS worked well, much better than Android. Sadly 1 year later the hardware failed, not related to LinageOS. Yes, I would do it again.
Excellent worked in the end but had issues throughout: TWRP 3.1.1 didn't work for me but luckily saw someone else comment about using 2.8.7.0 and that was OK to a point, using 3.1.1 the tablet kept rebooting part way through the processes so used the older 2.8.7.0 and no reboot issues but had a problem when trying to upload the new files to the sd card as it wasn't showing in my available devices on my laptop so had to stick the sd card direct into the laptop to upload, then it wasn't showing the files on TWRP 2.8.7.0 but was on 3.1.1 but then couldn't fully install without it rebooting, was about to throw the tablet in the bin but went back to 2.8.7.0 and suddenly the files were showing so I uploaded lineage and then Gapps, but then mistakenly followed the final instructions on 2.8.7.0 where it says this tablets root isn't locked do I want to lock it so I said yes, big mistake tablet wouldn't reboot past the battery charge level icon but re did the whole process again, deleting all the files and reinstalled and this time said no to locking the root and all is fine, took an age to reboot at first but now boots up very quickly, play store working fine, managed to download all the apps I wanted that wouldn't with the old android. So thanks for the tutorial as it's saved me buying a cheap £160 new Android 10 tablet.
I have watched your tutorial a few times now, I'm not that guy🤣...but will give it a shot. Question, I'm working with Note 10.1 GT-N8013. Looked through the comments for my model but no luck. Will all apply for my Samsung?
Thank you! I want to do this to be able to install newer apps on the tablet. But I wonder what happens to the image and video files on the tablet. How do I backup those first? Or is one of those steps in the video doing the backup? What happens to payed apps I have already installed?
This Guide still holds up 2020, just make sure to enable developer options before doing anything. And use Samfirm to recover your original OS if you happen to soft-brick like i did. Thankyou iQ

@@iQAndroid Done a different 520 Pro and that just wouldn't complete with TWRP 3.1.1. Use an earlier version and it works perfectly.
Как же долго я тебя искал! Лайк! Планшет просто летает, и все приложения становятся.
Brilliant!...made my device usable again without clunky menus and speedy Thank you
Glad to help. What would you like to see next?
Thank you very much for those great instructions! My only issues were that SuperSU was stuck deactivating KNOX and I had to restart the tablet and to start SuperSU again and the TWRP backup had to be done with TWRP 2.8.7.0.
Thanks for sharing your issue and solution.
I had the exact same problem. I took your lead and used TWRP 2.8.7.0 to perform the backup. It worked great. Thanks much.
I'm a late gamer, just stop by to give a thumb up, actually both thumbs up for this vid. Great job iQ Android! It works, it simply works. Great instructions.
Thank you so much! You saved me. Just to confirm it is working November 2021. Best regards Marcus.
Great to hear!
Worked like a charm. Thank you so much for the tutorial!!!
Hard part was figuring out the right GApps to download, but after pausing the video, I can see the zip file you got was the following:
arm 7.1 pico

It finally workedddd thank you so muchhhhh
Great video. It took me a few times to get the correct files, but everything is installed and updated.
Great! Works fine here! Thanks man!
saludos desde argentina. funcionó a la perfeccion. muchas gracias!!!!!!
Tested today on SM-P600 (codename lt03wifi (old) resp. n1awifi (new), P600XXSDRI1_P600BTUDRI1_BTU = Android v5.1.1 Germany) with
Lineage OS 18.1 v1.1, Odin v3.10.7, Samsung USB Driver v1.7.59.0, Magisk v25.2, GApps ARM/11/pico and it works beautifully! :)
Thanks for share! Works perfectly!
thank you very much, from México

You are welcome!
Wow it worked! Before this i was about to junk my tablet and it now top!
Great!
RIght!
thanks man, my note 10.1 2014 has been super slow and this is what it needed to get it running again
does s pen works fine in this custom rom?
Great instructor, nice.
Thank you so much! I used this method to install Lineage on my Note 10.1 2014 Edition and it works perfectly fine!
Hello there. I also have a 2014 edition tablet. Were you able to write with spen after android 7 update? Does the snote app install?
@@euclid80tr1 S note app doesn't work sadly. So the button on the pen doesn't do anything anymore. However you can still write using it
@@PayneDeathz I´ve the same Note, but when it´s starts show an error, do you remember what Lineage and GApps used?
Great info. Thanks for making this
Thank you for this fantastic guide. All the best!
Thank you very much Dude! You saved my day! :)
Fantastic! Thank you so much!
You're very welcome!
3. error-7 in trwp (not listened to you and only swiped once to clear) so do at least 3 times swiping to clean
4. when rebooting it takes like ages (on my device) for lineageOS to start up. And then after filling in my internet pw (says no internet connection) and seems to get stuck on updating. Just let it rolll. And
THERE IT IS!!!!! DAMN. STATUE FOR YOU MAN! THANKS A LOT!!!!
DID YOU USE THE LINEAGE 14.1 05/2020?
thanks for your additional support mate :)
Thank you so much for your time!
You're welcome.
2021 works perfect....many thanks!!!
Hello! Thank you for the video! :) is it working in T320 version?
No. This is only for this specific model. Contact me for help with other models.
Thank you very much
You're welcome 😊
Excellent worked in the end but had issues throughout:
TWRP 3.1.1 didn't work for me but luckily saw someone else comment about using 2.8.7.0 and that was OK to a point, using 3.1.1 the tablet kept rebooting part way through the processes so used the older 2.8.7.0 and no reboot issues but had a problem when trying to upload the new files to the sd card as it wasn't showing in my available devices on my laptop so had to stick the sd card direct into the laptop to upload, then it wasn't showing the files on TWRP 2.8.7.0 but was on 3.1.1 but then couldn't fully install without it rebooting, was about to throw the tablet in the bin but went back to 2.8.7.0 and suddenly the files were showing so I uploaded lineage and then Gapps, but then mistakenly followed the final instructions on 2.8.7.0 where it says this tablets root isn't locked do I want to lock it so I said yes, big mistake tablet wouldn't reboot past the battery charge level icon but re did the whole process again, deleting all the files and reinstalled and this time said no to locking the root and all is fine, took an age to reboot at first but now boots up very quickly, play store working fine, managed to download all the apps I wanted that wouldn't with the old android.
So thanks for the tutorial as it's saved me buying a cheap £160 new Android 10 tablet.

worked like a charm good job
Works great, thanks.
Thanks a lot.
You gave my tab pro 2nd life.
Thank You from Germany!
Helped tonnes. Thanks.
I have watched your tutorial a few times now, I'm not that guy🤣...but will give it a shot. Question, I'm working with Note 10.1 GT-N8013. Looked through the comments for my model but no luck. Will all apply for my Samsung?
This is not a general guide. Its only for this specific model. Don't try it on a different tablet. You can need specific files for your model.
@@iQAndroid Thank You Sir. Much appreciated 👍
TOp Thanks from Germany :-)
Our pleasure!
Thank you very much!!! Even i made it! :-)
Great!!
thank you bro :)
No problem
Excelente video, gracias por revivir a mi tablet
?sua spen funciona?
Great video . I have a Tab3 7" SM-T217A . I haven't been able to find it listed in any of the download lists . Any ideas?
when i try to install the Gapps the tablet just reboots mid way through and closes twrp. how do i stop twrp from just closing down mid way through
Thank you! I want to do this to be able to install newer apps on the tablet. But I wonder what happens to the image and video files on the tablet. How do I backup those first? Or is one of those steps in the video doing the backup? What happens to payed apps I have already installed?
always backup first.
This Guide still holds up 2020, just make sure to enable developer options before doing anything.
And use Samfirm to recover your original OS if you happen to soft-brick like i did.
Thankyou iQ
What do you mean? Planning to try this, 2021
Hi, I just wondered if this will work for my Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 LTE SM-T25? Should I choose the most recent software to download in the links you have given as some have a few options to choose from like Open G Apps? And thank you for making a very clear and easy to understand video : )
