The gap is there because of how the scales are bending around the egg shape. It's an easy fix, just pull the TOP vertices of the scale that goes UNDER everything else (i.e. in your grid of 4 scale parts, the bottom-most part) and pull it up a fair ways underneath the top-most part. Doesn't matter that you're stretching it because it's supposed to be hidden anyway, but it'll block the gap when the shape is deformed.
the only ASMR channel I need :) still on c4d for work but when I do some spare time modelling I started going to blender. So far I'm having fun, however I am also appreciating c4d more today for its modelling core as I did in the past. Both applications have their strong and weak points in modelling
