  • I decided to visit a new National park in South Africa, and being so close to Johannesberg, the Pilanesberg National park was a no brainer! I was sceptical at first, because I've been very fortunate to have visited the Kruger National park for many years, and subsequently fallen in love with its diverse habitats, wildlife and rest camps!
Would I regret my decision? Well, the Pilanesberg did have something going for it, and immediately standing out - Self drive! This meant I could explore the park on my own, and explore where I wanted and when I wanted, which is something I value a lot, especially being so used to the Kruger.
So I tried my luck... Spending two full days exploring the Pilanesberg in late November. I hope you enjoy my first full day in this episode. If you do, stick around as I'll be dropping my second day soon and boy was it a good one!
