I love these behind the scenes videos. It gives so much information as to WHY I love this music so much. I didn't know it was 5 keyboards at once. It's why Yanni's sound is so distinct. He is truly a master musician at knowing the technical aspects of his instruments as well as the creativity of a brilliant composer.
It's a honor to have you teach here with all your fame and busy schedules. Your training classes would Redefine music in totality; we would be having your rebirth in them, like a clone. Permit me to say that some of your students would influence the totality of music in the world. Thank you sir, my family and i, friends and many that I know love your music. You are a living legend of our time. Thank you sir.
The first time I heard you, I was completely hooked with you as an artist and composer. Your heart is very big and the interaction with the people who love you all over the world. Which is the reason I have so much respect for you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Grew up loving synths in the 80s, 90s and 00s... bred to think Yanni was ultra-cheesy. Was fun to poke at a New Age artist who's kind of a heart-throb with a big mustache who puts himself on almost every album cover. How things have changed! Yanni, you are a badass & this master class series is an amazing glimpse into your world. You have a new fan.
He was never cheesy. I've liked this music since 1987 when a friend of mine introduced me to it by letting me borrow her _Out of Silence_ cassette tape. I would get annoyed with people when music would come up and I'd mention Yanni. Either they didn't know who he was or they assumed he only played a grand piano, probably because of all of his appearances of daytime shows in which, yeah, he did play a piano. His majestic, high-energy pieces were completely unknown to most people, unfortunately. "Street Level" is one of my favorites. I was hoping to hear it when I was at a concert in the 90s (Dare to Dream tour), but it wasn't played. I don't know if it's ever been played live.

As a Music Photographer for the past 20 years I've been to numerous shows from every genre you can imagine and I can honestly say that the shows Yanni presents are some of the best! I feel privileged to have been witness to some of the best musicians assembled and I'm grateful to Yanni for giving all of us the opportunity to experience them!
As a promotions guy I'm in the same boat. Every genre. What many people loathe to know is many musicians listen to a ton of different genres outside their own either for pleasure ore ideas. Yanni is influences many in the way he produces/programs his keys, the computer triggers he's developed for the setup.
Hearing how you do the keyboard is magnificent. My CDs of Yanni were stolen so I now have to replace them. My favorite is Yanni at the Acropolis..his best of the best......and Yanni, in case you are one day reading this...years ago after I saw your Acropolis on TV...I moved to England for 3 yrs...during that time I had bought a cassette walkman at John Lewis Store in London and I filled out a small card after buying it.....a week later, I got a call from someone in London asking me "Would you like to come to London, give your opinion about Yanni's Acropolis etc".....and I did....I was picked up in a taxi, taken to that little office, fed a sandwich, wine and a candy bar (and paid cash) and enjoyed your video!...then I was asked questions and gave them my real opinions....there was 6 of us..Those questions had to do with your future near visit and they wanted to know which parts of the video music I liked best and why. My basic answer was ROMANCE AND...YOU ALLOWED EACH MUSICIAN TO SHINE.........that it was not all about you...............what a magnificent musician you are. I can't wait to buy your Acropolis again! Keri.
The expertise, the reality enjoyment of hearing this man explaining and soul of the music, I do not know what I am talking but I am so happy listening this man.
Thank you Yanni! You've been such a harbor for my emotions through your music... Got to see you here in Seattle, WA, on a memorable night... Please, come back soon... your presence here alongside of your amazing band is well overdue. We miss you!
vikas khandelwal same here man.....a lot of Indian musicians I have met either mentioned ARR or yanni. Although I am great fan of ARR, yanni struck my heart at a very young age
first time I discovered yanni I was 15 years old in Syria now I'm 24 and I'm a big fan of him I really just hope that I can meet him one day and watch him a in live show just for one time in this life
A friend of mine put on the Live at the Acropolis CD, the other night, and It was amazing. Not only is Yanni an incredible musician, so are all of the people that he brings into his band. As a kid, growing up in the 90s, I was taught (by whomever or whatever) to believe that Yanni wasn't "hip" and now, 20 years later I understand from being a musician for most of my life and listening to a lot of different kinds of music, what's "hip" is playing the music you want to play and doing it with absolute passion.
He describes his sound at about 5:40 that is programed for his style of playing, also earlier the movement from the shoulder he has developed speed and velocity for that instrument. I understand his duplication on the synths due to same language and programing controls, LFOs, Envelopes, EQ, Effects, etc to get that layered sound which is full. Developing your sound is critical and its yours. He understands his synths and has mastered them, I'm still working on it.
It's all about MIDI. Invented in early 80's and still remains the only interface to make digital instruments "understand" each other. Respect to Yanni. Greetings from Ukraine
Yanni: *has 50 keyboards* Me: *has one keyboard duplicated 50 times in a track stack in my DAW* But that's why people come from around the world to see Yanni, and the only person that comes to see me is my mom. Until she abandoned me for Yanni.
I just recently got a Yamaha MODX7 synthesizer, and am having lots of fun with it! I really like the delay effect, like the one used in the beginning of Looking Glass!
Yano, your are the best and you’re irreplaceable. I pray that you live longer and entertain us. You bring joy to many when they sad, when they are down, when they are sick. Keep doing what you doin.
Your 1994 concert made me cry that I have to go and learn Violin. Now I am good. All thanks to God who introduced me to your music. Thank to you too. Great Man. One question. You said your Grand Piano controlls the keyboards. Is it a Digital Grand Piano?
I know this video is from 2016 but, anyway...I've been following you since I was a little kid, the first performance I saw from you was the tribute album, from 1997. I was literally in love with it, at that time in 2006/2007, I was 4/5 years old..and my mom always said that when I was going to hear it, every time I dressed up all in white, and started pretending I was playing the piano/keyboard like you 😂..such a good times, I'll never forget it. Nowadays I am a saxophonist, I've been playing it since I was 9, and I also play the violin..I'm working very hard to someday be a good musician like you, that's one of my biggest dreams, hope one day I can reach it. So, thank you very much to make me appreciate music and to make me love it :) You are the best !!
If I have had you as my friend in my early life, or if there was RUclips like thus in the '80s, you would have sparked up the music talent in me. I'm over 50, too much to learn and catchup with at my age. But deepest thanks to you for bringing to memory the world I once wanted to live.
My Inspiration For My Music...Yanni You're In a Class Of Your Own of Brilliant Music. Blessings and Thank You For Inspiring So Many Musicians. Long Live The Timeless Music of Contemporary Instrumental. Sythe
It's very interesting how Yanni's keyboards are synchronized to play simultaneously. What a setup. Standing In Motion and Santorini are my favorite Yanni masterpieces. Yanni is the musician's musician!
Yanni can't believe am addressing you..... Thank you! Thank you so much..... Can't thank you enough unless I could do a tribute. I was a child when we saw you on the TV live at the Taj Mahal. Your sound and love raised me up above all else. You are awesome. I need this Master class. Badly. I am learning to play the keyboard and youtube is my only help! I need your help Yanni...... Help me speak music! Thank you so much for the video and God bless you always!
It's called sequencing through midi...or music cords keyboards hooked in to each other to share sounds...I used to put vocals on one track for my backup singers, my daughter. Lol. I sequenced Gloria Estephans, " The Rhythm is gonna get you". All the parts. The drummer listened through headphones that gave him the beat. I was my own karaoke machine but I did all the sounds. It's WORK! And to watch Yanni play by EAR, like me, no sheet music is great because musicians like us play only from the heart and memory...we must have the memory of an elephant. Yes, Yanni remembered every chord and every sequence change and every keyboard setting change! I watch him in awe! I am a singer. Today, looking at my birth certificate reading hat my parents were listed as musicians way back in the 50s made me proud to be a musician too. It's our bond that death can't steal.
Hey man very cool, idea here. I'm excited to watch them all. I'll be honest I don't listen to a ton of your music but I've heard enough to respect the amount of time and extra effort you put into providing this information for people like myself. It really opens to door to your creative process and causes my to think differently about the execution of some of my own creative projects
Thank you for taking the time to show you your expertise of you and all your musicians. I used to play trumpet in high school marching band. We love you, your expert musicians, your songs, your creativity and your vision.
It would be cool to see Yanni do an actual programming master class to show everyone how he actually programs an ENTIRE sound patch like his guitar/dulcimer sound patch using his master/slave keyboard setup! Dear Yanni, is this something you might consider as the subject of one of your future master classes? That would be awesome! I have always wondered how you sampled/programmed that particular sound. I think I read in an article back in the 1990s that you sampled a bouzoki or something like that to layer it in your programming-- any truth to this? That would be awesome to see how you do such a thing-- especially now that you have been able to create that redundancy for all your performance keyboards whether yours or Ming Freeman's-- the duplicity you speak of for productions like yours, I can see how necessary that is to make sure things go smoothly. Did you have a similar arrangement back in the 1990s for your Acropolis concerts and era tours for Bradley Joseph's and Julie Homi's keyboards?
hi there, sorry but I need and advice, I wanna start to play keyboard and do covers from The Killers band and Santorini.., what keyboard do I need to do these covers? I wanna play piano sound and strings at same time but I just want only one keyboard. Yanni....The art of creating marvelous and soul touching music from sclience... All wonderful music from yanni generates pleasent ambience and touch the heart of the true nature and universe....Hats off to your excellence
Dear YANNI, You are a real genius! Your music is absolutely global; it touches the hearts before the ears. It's like an ever-flowing river that sparkles in front of thirsty audiences. Your fellow musicians are also champions of genuine art. Many, many thanks for making us all happy with your masterpieces, sir Yanni Maestro!
That kind of grind my gears. All sounds he is making can be done with one single modern synth. Pick the cheapest one and it will do it. A single Korg Kross or a Roland xps 10.
You do realize that the large number of keyboards is simply to create the simplest, most reliable signal path for a large concert, right? You only need ONE keyboard in a home midi studio to play anything Yanni or anyone else plays, as you can multitrack it one part at a time...
Yanni. You are simply the best. In my opinion your best work and my favorite pieces are those without vocals. Also the more people in your orchestra the better and more full and rich it sounds. Come back to Oregon sometime.
My wife won a competition to see him at The Royal Albert Hall in London , all expenses paid with a Royal Box and lots of champagne and beer, we had been drinking all day, at the end of the concert we were special guests backstage in the VIP area, I could hardly stand we were told he was coming to meet us with his then wife Linda Evans , as he came through the door I took a last gulf of my pint and because I was so drunk virtually poured it over my own head, the couple and my wife who I was with didn't notice me because we were lined up in a row with me on the end, they shook hands with everyone and when it came to me I had beer dripping off the end of my nose with a cheesy grin, i meant to say I love your music, but I just said I love you!! Slurred.. I do remember the music which is credit to his art, but that night I probably wouldn't of recognised my own mother if she introduced herself....
A complete revolution for the music in my lifetime. I'm so fortunate for having the opportunity of becoming to know "Yanni", a musician, composer and maestro. He takes the challenge to a maximum level, he does what is necessary to acomplish both realities; good music and inspiration that leads to union and peace. The arguments are present in the many nationalities of the invited musicians to complete the orchestra. In fact, I see it as the "United Nations" of the music. Perhaps, all the world conflicts that involve suffering and loss of lives should be resolved musicways. But be aware that music is a strong power and a great weapon against hate, poverty, anger or violence. You know, when musicians reunite gathering to perform a concert, some innocent kids around the world get a sign of hope and a much better food for their survival. This is what I see in "Yanni" music, much more than a concert, a call for humanity.
rahim4411 Those 250 people who don’t like it don’t count. What's their claim to fame except a big mouth and a lousy attitude? If anyone ever thought that success in music is all about great chops, then welcome to the real world where attitude can and will often overtake chops. Now you all know why we have ONE great Yanni, and 250 or more NOBODIES with great chops. And Yanni DOES have great chops to add to the mix.
Right...and what you think of a more simple term: 'jealousy'??? In the meantime there are 682 of those. They click on Yanni and after they did so, they 'seem' to find 'something' negative or dissapointing in this warm upload................what is wrong with 'their' minds? Making music professionaly isn't an easy job at all...it takes 'all' you got, 'all' you are, it's your 'life'. 682 don't understand and won't, probably. I'd ask them: "Where are 'your' feelings?"
Whether you like him or not, Yanni is a great musician and composer. We could sit here day and night and discuss why he needs, or not, so many keyboards. Naturally, you cannot satisfy or please every single person with his music, style, or looks. If you do not like him or his music, move on, or life will leave you behind. He is enjoying what he does best, creating music, and finding some of the best musicians in the world to have fun with him while performing. The many keyboards is for redundancy purposes, he said it himself, just in case one breaks down. It is like the systems in an airplane, or programming in cars and other machines, redundant, just in case, right? Yanni, thanks for your music and the master classes. They provide a bit of behind the scenes info that many do not see or understand. Best wishes and greetings from Germany.
whoa Yanni, I'm your fans since I'm 5 years old! I have some question though. Why 7 KROME? I think we can do all of those multi sounds in just one KRONOS, and well, you can still bring more for safety reason. I've seen Jordan Rudess doing that. also, 7 KROME is like $11550 and 3 KRONOS is like $11100. not too much difference. well, just personal preference though. If only I had money to buy KRONOS :(
Mate, specifically for what was presented in this video, 1 Krome alone would have done the trick, as long as he doesn't require the SST. Honestly I'm failing to imagine the reason for all those, beside looks - and if it is just for the looks, it's kinda silly to have 7 Kromes instead of 1 high end workstation + 1 analog synth + 1 clonewheel organ. Would be around the same price, but it would look a LOT cooler!
Eduardo Santos he even exchanged program with his other keyboardist, so if one fails, they can just borrow each other keyboard. obviously for safety and coolness. safe can be cool too lol 😄
Rinaldo Jonathan It does make sense. I've owned the Krome for a while, and now I upgraded to Kronos. I'm yet to face any trouble with any of my keyboards, but lets face it... I'm not a high profile musician. I certainly don't play as often as him, thus I stress my gear a LOT less. But really... 7 is still a bit too much imo XD that's some serious trust issue lol
The difference is in the depth and the sustain of it... Have a good ears on sound not on the replica of the sound with nine engines of Kronos... The digital sound of Kronos has the highs, listen to sound of mis 80's and 90's and compare it with Kronos. I own Korg Oasys and nord stage 2 but why not Kronos while the cost of Kronos is 1/4 of Oasys... Its the depth of sound in it. One has to have the ear of the old school to know the sound! Sorry to tell you the truth... I myself like Jordan's fingering on keys but the sound created by Yanni touches the soul, thats the difference to play with the dual sound and with the EQ's of any particular keyboard!
Amazing yanni! Ever since i first heard your music when i was a kid many years ago thanks to my mom when live at the acropolis came out, i was captivated by your music and unique sound. Im amazed by how incredible and inspiring your music is. thank you so much for making these videos. I enjoy them very much.

I have listened to Yanni's music since I was a young student. Up to date, I still love Yanni's music and Yanni Orchestra!
Thanks! It's great see your face singing the sounds! you really feel it, sing it and express it.
If I have had you as my friend in my early life, or if there was RUclips like thus in the '80s, you would have sparked up the music talent in me. I'm over 50, too much to learn and catchup with at my age. But deepest thanks to you for bringing to memory the world I once wanted to live.
more vids like this please!
Talk about your gear programmning, your MIDI interface, and your controllers
Always wonderful to see Yanni.
My Inspiration For My Music...Yanni You're In a Class Of Your Own of Brilliant Music. Blessings and Thank You For Inspiring So Many Musicians. Long Live The Timeless Music of Contemporary Instrumental.

It's very interesting how Yanni's keyboards are synchronized to play simultaneously. What a setup. Standing In Motion and Santorini are my favorite Yanni masterpieces. Yanni is the musician's musician!
Is nice to see Yanni showing how does he do his sound. It is a really nice video, thanks :)
Thank you so much for the video and God bless you always!
greatest musician I ever heard in my life. I like you so much.
dear sir I'm from India I would like to become your student
whata ya say, Yanni?
Hello Yanni, you are one of the best inspiration i ever seen, hope you coming to play in Sweden soon... 👍 Best Regards Nec.
Keep having a GREAT TIME, Yanni !!! Love the music ! So does my Dad, as my Dad found you first, and shared your music with me.
Love you Yanni.. thank you for the valuable tip.. NO BASS on the 5th note!
A legend indeed! I love how humble he is, despite being from another universe! Always loved his music 👍
Thank you yanni I learned so much because of you🙏🏻
Yanni is 1 among those few persons who truly hv d ultimate passion for Sounds🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
💯💯Sounds connect Souls💯💯
Thanks.

Yanni!!! Thank you very much for the "GREAT" Music, been following you since the 90's♪♫♪
When I was 15 I met Yanni's songs, today I'm 40 and Yanni still has the same face 25 years ago. What's the secret of his youth?
I guess he uses the same face cream as Jean-Michel Jarre ;-)
@@reijnoud really true
Υπέροχος! Περιμένουμε να ακούσουμε και κάτι από Βυζαντινή μουσική , πιστεύω ότι θα είναι κάτι μαγικό! Συγχαρητήρια!
LOVE your Master classes, Yanni.
Such an awesome, nerdy video. The master at work. Thank you, Yanni for showing us your secret lab. 🤩

KRISNA MUSIK Rick Wakeman
KRISNA MUSIK I love u so much yanni
I know how to play KEYS TO IMAGINATION and STANDING IN MOTION
And I am only 11years old
NOOO. The best is JORDAN RUDESS.
This is great! I like the charisma, and the sounds! Unfortunately I can't afford 50 keyboards at this moment in evolution.
Don't worry. At least for what he has shown in this video, 1 of those alone (the Korg Krome) would have done the trick.
I have a Korg M50, and it sounds good. I suppose I could layer 7 of them during the recording process.
That kind of grind my gears. All sounds he is making can be done with one single modern synth. Pick the cheapest one and it will do it. A single Korg Kross or a Roland xps 10.
16 layers on a Kross even.
6:12 E.L.P. i liked the reference or maybe the inspiration...
Yanni you are the best and we love your music, greetings from Lebanon
Wow!!! amazing, never even imagined this much you know and have implemented to your keyboards all together. You are the Masters.
He seems like a cool guy... Thanks.
YANNI GREAT STUFF LOVED THE SOUNDS AND YOUR TALENT!!!!!!
I WISH I COULD DISLIKE THE 250 PEOPLE THAT DIDN'T LIKE IT. SMH
rahim4411 Those 250 people who don’t like it don’t count.
Super man of music !! We love you Yanni !!!!
Awesome! But I could use a little more cowbell.
Thank you sir!
I like how he links them and changes the patch on all of them with the click of a button, must be a custom built footswitch
Yanni should make video about this. I even don’t know the name of the controller
6:20 - Yanni actually doesnt need his crews of Brass, Trumpets, Strings.
Simply A PRO at your trade ... Thanks Yanni for revealing how you cook the magic ...
whoa Yanni, I'm your fans since I'm 5 years old!
If only I had money to buy KRONOS :(
It's all about the looks.
I myself like Jordan's fingering on keys but the sound created by Yanni touches the soul, thats the difference to play with the dual sound and with the EQ's of any particular keyboard!
love your works love all your songs 🥰
I could have watched weeks for how he does this all.
Quantity has a quality of its own...... Love you Yanni... You are the master of all black-n-white keys🎹🎹🎹
Dear Yanni: what about to add an Arabic music to your albums! I wonder how will that be great 👍
aaaaaaaa…...made so much sense. Thanks Yanni for making music so dynamic. I love all the compositions, have been listening to them for over 20 years
The infamous multi-keyboard wizard Master...
