Yanni, you are amazing how you put your thoughts and feelings into words. Believe me, I too know what the "ZONE" is. I am a US Army retired Blackhawk pilot and I have been flying helicopters for 37 years. I have been in the "ZONE" while flying so many times where I too become part of the helicopter, the mission at hand, the environment that I happen to be flying (Peacetime out just playing around, in Combat when ALL of my situational awareness is finely tuned like a sharpened pencil point. So this video blog was amazing, I love your talany and the folkss that surround you and their talents. God Bless you, Yanni. I wish I could someday take my family to one of your Concerts. I live in Texas. Being in the zone has kept me and my crew members alive all of my 37 years of flying. I can say that if I am not in the zone I get complacement and that is when we as pilots can make critical mistakes. I have had many close calls. So thank you for this insite. Dustoff85

I've never,never seen anyone enjoy what they do as much as Yanni. His amazing ability has a spiritual element that resonates deep in the human heart. To be able to take sound- vibratory acoustical energy and change a persons emotions, to lift their senses, change their heart rate and chemicals in their body. To listen to his music then feel lighter and experience a peace and joy and have that music generate a genuine desire to go out and help someone else feel as blessed, is to me a unique and rare gift indeed.

I have been a fan since I was about 9 years old. I'm a dancer and I have loved improvising and choreographing to your music nearly all my life. I have really enjoyed these master class videos. I finally get to see more of the man who makes this wonderful music. Being creative and be able to blend in one with the inspiration is a blessing and a curse in the same time ... Blessing is because that feeling is like being in love....but safer and can last longer....you almost can feel the pulse in your ears, your own heartbeat and deep breathing you almost feel like your pupils dilate when you are aroused. It can disconnect you from reality, from mundane days, from your body.....it can torment you if the inspiration is gone withing a second.....You can really see when a musician, or an artist or a dancer is disconnected from reality and totally blended with the Muse......This is a blessing given to few people......The curse is .....that once you realize that you can feel connected only through these rare moments, through this inspiration, connected to and with the Muse it isolates you on a deeper level, millions of people might admire your work, will say millions of compliments but no one can feel that what is going through you while you are inspired.....no one but you and your piano or your canvas.......
It is true that once you experience that feeling you will never forget.....
And I am blessed that I experienced that for the first time at the age of 40 through a canvas and now through the piano.....its never to late to find yourself and the key is Music, Arts and Sports.....

this is magical. people go to muaic school and study phd in composition but could never come to write anything original. while youbhad dudes in yhe street who compose timeless folk music. as yanni states it, creative spark is required to come up with an original piece and yourvmusical knowledge isbused to polish amd develop the theme.

Yanni, my life has been divided sharply between music and science. I've had to accept that both are a part of my soul, and an integral source of what I have to offer to others, but that one would have to win out - at least for now. I've been fortunate to be able to inspire the lives of tens of thousands of youth from all nationalities and walks of life. But this has also been a source of pain as I've watched dust settle on the lifelong friends that are my keyboards. For the last three nights I've been watching your Master Class videos and found myself playing along, knocking off the dust and doing a lot of smiling. I've learned that no matter what you do, perfection can kill creativity, and that mastery and perfection are not the same thing. I've listened to you for over 25 years. You even answered a question of mine about your music during a concert in Atlanta Georgia in the 90's. I can't express how much I appreciate your intimate and down to earth, yet spiritual, insight in this video. And judging from all of the the comments below from people around the world, I'd say I'm in incredibly good company. Thank you so much.

I don't know how I missed this video when you first created it, but I'm just starting to write again and this popped up in my video feed! In any case, this video was amazing! I had to stop in the middle of it and run over to the piano to try the first part of what you were saying, and suddenly I had the first phrase of a new song! Then I ran into the same pause to examine what I was writing that you had described, so I immediately went back to the rest of the video, then went back to the piano. This piece may take a while to finish, but now I know that's OK, and I don't have to rush it or try to push through it.

Bonjour Yanni, thank you for sharing your experience with creativity, you explain it very well! I like what you shared about how fragile inspiration is, too, how we have to respect it when it comes, not try to cage or master it, but basically follow where it leads. It's truly a gift! I have been playing piano by ear since age 13, but the last 12 years have been silent. Now I'm going back to the music, and despite all the advances in electronics, I realize that my main voice is still the acoustic piano. There is something unique for me with the instrument itself, that synthesizers don't always allow. But when I sit at a good piano, it's like "magic" happens and my soul can engage with the music much more easily.
I'm now 60 years old, and hope to finally live out my passion for music and create many more albums, hopefully helping people who suffer in life. I am particularly fond of your album Tribute for that reason in particular, a friend gave me he DVD as a gift in a time of deep pain. The music is so full of life and emotions, and it brings stability inside.
