I'm so-so on it. It's nice that Apple is making a powerful desktop that doesn't cost 6 grand, but I find the design really boring. It just looks like a fat Mac mini (because I guess that's what it is lol)

This Mac had passive cooling, the M1 Mac mini, with it's super efficient M1 processor, still comes with a fan.
I'd like to see the iMac, the MacBook Pro and even the Mac Pro with passive cooling. I mean, why didn't Apple use vapour chamber for the MacBook Pros?

A fan is simpler, why fix what ain't broke? That's my guess

because they got ridiculed on the air without a fan.

I always think it's a bit of a shame to see these classic machines 'upgraded' with SSDs, especially sought after ones like this. The sound and response of a mechanical hard drive is part of the experience. Nice machine though, but find a real drive for it.

Vehemently disagree, mechanical hard drives are slow, noisy and problematic as they age. Getting rid of it is a great idea on any machine if you ask me. You sound like the people who still run carburetors on their classic vehicles when EFI would make it much more livable lol

@@accordinglyryan I'm with you, Ryan. Other upgrades might be nice to have, but if you actually want to use your old device an SSD is essential. I have a G4 Cube and it was painfully slow with a mechanical drive - it took forever to boot, load games or even just browse and access files. This is why the original owner left it in a box for a decade. An SSD transformed the Cube into a useable system I can actually enjoy playing around with instead of just an obsolete museum piece.
