I think the point of the comment was just to emphasize that if you agree to something you need to stick by it. I think the 'my beauty' didn't have double meanings as referred to Ukraine or Zelensky. It's just a turn of phrase. I read some comments on another post that it's a quote from a Russian song.

In most Slavic cultures you can only call people "My beauty", "Doll" or other "cute" nicknames when they don't fit at all when you are very much the superior one in the conversation. It's usually not meant to be deragatory, at least when used casually, but is used more as a matter-of-fact statement. A few elders used to call very young people in my neighborhood "doll" and "beauty", regardless of genders.
In every important way, Putin is superior to Zelensky. Most notably age and experience. Similarly, if he meant it in another context - if he was referring to Ukraine, then he has ample grounds to treat Ukraine as such as Russia.
It should be noted, however, that this is definitely not something you say in a professional environment. The equivalent for you English speakers would be the term "child" or perhaps black-african-woman's "Sugar" or white-grandpa's "Son". It's not an insult per se, but it is a bit insulting to remind your interlocutor in a professional environment that you are qualified to call them that.

That’s so funny how people translate it here. It basically means you like it or not what’s written in the contract you have to follow it - it doesn’t matter if you like it or not. If you signed a contract please fullfil it also. Example: if you signed a contract in the bank then you have to follow your obligations.
This is why Ukraine isnt a legitimate government and should not be allowed to decide things. Its always violent government take overs, then no one keeps agreements. Unreliable, unstable and even illegitimate.
Example: Russia signed the Budapest Memorandum, and they had obligations that they violated by invading Ukraine in 2014 and again in 2022. Putin's excuse that "the Duma didn't pass and agree to it" is bullshit. If your leader signs an international agreement, your country is obligated. Period. Otherwise virtually every international agreement because useless.

The u.s. first raised concerns about the treaty in 2013-14 after Russia developed 2 new missiles that broke the treaties rule. Russia then test launched the missiles that drove the u.s. to withdraw. From my stance russia kept developing new missiles over the years including the hypersonic long range missiles which from my understanding is why the west wanted Defensive missiles in Europe. In the end I think both sides could have done more to prevent war in ukraine but in my view russia was the aggressor. First with continuesly developing new missiles that broke the treaty. Attacking Crimea which was part of ukraine. Russia attacked ukraine to reshape and gain more Russian territory. Then recent when Russia further attacked eastern ukraine and set up 100,000 troops on ukraines border all while ukraine was not part of NATO and also did not have any offensive missiles in country. I believe putin had a last straw with failed negotiations with the missile treaty and took his chance to use that to try ans get his old u.s.s.r back. Hes publicly stateded that the biggist russian travesty is when the u.s.s.r failed.

It is a proverb. Means that one should respect agreements that already have been arranged as with wife who already agreed to marry a man, so she should endure some things she may not like. It's Ukraine's choice, to join or not NATO. It's not his business and he can't interfere in another country at least ACCORDING TO RUSSIAN LAW. It's article 353 of the Criminal Code of the RF. The commentary to this article very clearly describes exactly what is happening now. He says that he wants to ensure demilitarisation, and russia makes fakes about some labs with biological weapon, sick birds, animals and other shit. But what's his real purpose, when he simply can't demilitarize and destroy our labs, because they don't exist? I'm not into political stuff (and also don't know English very well, sorry) but it seems to me that the real reason to attack Ukraine is that he wants revenge. Back in 2014 we made Yanukovych escape Ukraine. Otherwise he would become our Lukashenko and Ukraine would become some kind of sub-nation. We didn't want that to happen. На самом деле, зная русский прекрасно понимаешь что путин приводит более разумные и логичные доводы, в отличие от зеленского, он говорит что действия Украины так же на пользу и русским, крым и донбасс с луганском стали (должны были) русскими территориями в 2014 году, без каких либо вооруженных конфликтов, но украинская власть стала использовать военную силу чтобы вернуть "оккупированные" территории, и зеленский прийдя к власти решил не смягчать ситуацию, вот к чему это привело

@@grain3880 Remember, the USA considered Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba an existential threat in the 1960’s and almost led to WW3. Russia considers if the Ukraine joins NATO to be an existential threat to them with not only possible nuclear missiles but now also we find out 25+ biolabs working with botulism and anthrax, amongst other things. I’m not saying war is justified, but you need to understand at least some of the reasons it happened.
