you do realize just like in the original, they never die in battle. They go unconscious. Phoenix Down only revives you back to conscious. Not from death.

To be honest I like the quiet destruction of the original, hearing screams and everything breaking while you hear President Shinra's music playing in the background, instead of this weird music playing as you hear gasps that are louder than the background music itself. I didn't like Jessie's last words, she should have been scared knowing that she's going to die revealing that her jokey persona was just to cheer up the team. This is was just too much dying with a smile. This is your team, not children you know not wanting them to cry.
in the OG these characters are nothing but to move the plot, there was nothing special that give them meaning beside to exist for other the main character. You're just having confirmed bias

It was likely from the debris falling on top of her. It didn’t kill her instantly, but probably damaged her vital organs and caused her to bleed out from the inside.

Wedge survives his "original death" and you actually find and rescue him from to be shredded into pieces by a Shinra underground lab monster and will appear in a few short appearances in later chapters ALTHOUGH during Shinra's HQ, Wedge will meet the Whispers and the screen goes black, hearing widow's glass broke as it seems like the Whispers is dragging him down from the building to his death. Biggs is shown to he alive and laying in a bed in the orphanage in Sektor 6 after the final Episode 1 boss, showing that Biggs managed to survive. Jessie is currently unknown and looks like she's the only one who died from the grenade blast + Sektor 7 plate 😟😭😭🥺
Honestly I can understand Wedge surviving. but I didn't like when game makes you see Biggs alive. He had a so expressive and beautiful death scene, in my opinion even better than Jessie's. Loved how he puts his hand on Cloud's head. How he trusts him til the end, relying the future of the world on his hands. How he treats Cloud as a friend... or a little brother maybe? Even if he acted like insensitive (specially at the beginning ofc) I found that scene simple but so rich at the same time. Watching he was alive makes that a little worthless. Because they don't seem anymore the last words of a character. Of course, we could say that Biggs might have thought to be dying. However, still doesn't make difference for me.
to be honest, this scene is okay, but I prefer the original where the deaths were more brutal and impactful ... but I get it that the remake has a whole different narrative tone, it would be hard to keep it all like it was
Really disappointed with the changes they made in the remake. The original was a classic for a reason. No changes were needed in the storyline. Next they'll have Aerith survive Sephiroth's sword 🤦♂️
