I wish these old singers were still alive when they uesd to sing it was clear as the day is long. Thenew country singers have a long way to go before they can fill the old country singers shoes
Back in the early 70s here in California I used to work for a couple who used to listen to country music all the time, that's what I listened to all day long 5 days a week he was from Ohio she was from Virginia very nice folks and among the things I learned from them was to like listening to country music till this day. Now all I can say is I thank God for allowing me to be a part of that American dream from them beautiful days and that I miss them folks and their country traditions I learned from them God knows how much I miss em and hope to see em again as the Lord promised us
Brings back memories of when I was a kid in the 1970s headed to the forest to chop wood with my dad in his Ford pickup truck for the fireplace and hitting the fishing hole afterwards in southern Illinois. Always had the country music station on.
Same as me. I remember hauling some farm equipment on a gooseneck trailer. I was sixteen and he trusted me to drive. Waylon, hank jr.and mel on the radio. A memory I'll take to my grave since he is gone now.
@@deborahclaw2681 !!! Howdy y'all ; this is Russell Karau ; born in Reno + raised.in Sun Valley !!! Why can't they cut songs like this anymore? The first lick and you know immediately who's voice willing be coming through the mic. Mel was a big part of that magical music era, with his distinct Texas drawl. It's sad to think those days are gone for good.
IT HAS THAT SOUND! You know what im talking about waylon, marty are other good examples of that outlaw country sound that is just perfect 👍never will be outdone

It's sad you won't ever hear country music like this again because Nashville's done went Hollywood it's not about who can sing anymore it's about who looks the best in front of the cameras
Different times different people.lot of people would say that it's good all that's gone, what with the whole racial intolerance and feminine b.s. You have to take the bad with the good, I'd still take those times over this BS any dang day
Been listening to him ever since i was a kid im guna be 49 in September and ive stuttered all my life....this man couldnt say shit if he had a,mouthful...but he could sing....
Kenneth Sibert I saw an interview view of him when he was in music city or someplace like that and someone had locked themselves out of their room and car because of leaving keys in their room. Mel said he was sleeping in the bath tub and they were crWling through the bath room window to get their keys. Mel said he was trying to tell paycheck that someone was crawling through the bath room window and he couldn't because of his suffering. He said he thought about it a second and decided to sing it "someone's coming through the bathroom window ". it was hilarious.
Thank you j w gauntt for sharing a great country artiis to all the fans who love real country music let's keep them going for ever thumbs up keep safe take care
He had a long list of hits, and sang well. I am glad I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s, able to hear classic country when the hits were new. Music began to reek during 1990. It's a wonder the feminist types don't forbid this from playing on you tube, so many people act so overly sensitive today. I love his hit Who's Julie, too.
Aww man - my bro and I listening to 8-tracks in his Ford XLT truck- those were the best times . Love you and miss you brother - Vietnam Veteran - thank U 4 your service ... rest EZ brother Dean ❤️👍🙏🏼.
If he comes to your area to do a concert I would highly recommend going & seeing him not only will you get great country music but you will also get some good comedy
Oh Lord why cant country music still sound like this!!!????

I love my hard rock but this kind of music I can listen to anytime. You can't disguise good plain old music.
Cuz it dont sell to the mayfly cellphone crowd

Hell yeah! Those times were good! Hard work that built callouses and good country music. Never a bad combination for us over 50.
Same here in northern California too bad California is what it is now !
We logged 12 hours a day dropping trees in the 70s. Sawmill dollar hits the heart
Now that's country!
mel tillis deserves much more credit than he gets
goat 68: Mr. Tillis DOES however get a lot of credit. No mistake about that.
I don't feel too sorry for him. Yesterday, I received a letter in my box and it said on the outside: American Xpress: You have been pre-declined!
Amen.
Why do people keep saying that, He got alot of recognition
Singer, actor, comedian and all around good egg
I find it so amazing that when he's singing you couldn't tell that he stutters
Exactly
