Thank you sir for a well explained and thorough walk-through. You saved my wife and I a headache, several arguments and a $125 appliance service call fee. Keep up the great work.
The spring on the wire which attaches the bellow has definitely been stretched out a bit...the wire for my bellow won't even stretch to the 1 o'clock position and this guy has it stretching all the way over to the 2 o'clock position. I really need a third arm to wrestle this wire into place. Great video, very helpful and informative, thanx.
This video is absolutely amazing. I followed it step-by-step and I was able to change out the gasket with these. Thank you so much for making me look like a man.
I’ve literally watched it 3 times and I can’t express how grateful I am for such a thorough and absolutely fool proof instructional video! I highly recommend this video compared to any of the other 5-6 videos I attempted to use....I didn’t even make it through half of them because they either left out info or were reminiscent of an early MTV music video. Thank you so much!!!
Exceptional How-To video! Clear, simple,’s step-by-step walk-through that made replacing the washing machine boot/seal totally doable by someone who has never done this before. Took me a bit over an hour as my model was slightly different than the one here, but overall a very doable project. Thank you so much!
The key to saving time ... is the trick to put the metal band on for the last step. This dude nailed it... unlike other videos. Nice job... and thanks!
he forgot about the rubber that goes over a plastic ring around the drum that spins. if u dont put that rubber in place cloths will get between that space and rip your cloths
This repair can be carried out without having to remove all the panels. This can be done through the door itself. I have a washer dryer setup, with the dryer being on top of the washer. So getting the dryer off the washer is a tedious task. I would literally have to disconnect everything. I was able to remove and install the seal just by gaining access from the door. The final inside clamp was a bit difficult due to limited access. But with a mirror it wasn't too difficult to line up. Thanks for the video!
Another excellent, helpful Appliance Parts Pros video. Agree with other positive Comments. Perfect, easy-to-follow steps and procedure flow. On a DIY scale of 1 thru 5, with 5 being the hardest, I'd say this job was a 2-3. Definitely a task most people can do. Just requires some patience. Main difference between my experience and what is seen in this video is that I spent approx. 8-9 hrs altogether - incl. initial troubleshooting, establishing what is needed to fix, researching DIY videos, ordering parts, making notes + 2 hrs cleaning all of the parts I took off + incl washer innards + cleaning area behind washer prior to re-install. Only a DIYer would do all that making a much more complete, thorough job than if done by service technician. If I did this again I could get the total time, incl. ordering parts down to 4-5 hrs. One other detail: When disassembling I removed the plastic soap tube that connects to the rubber bellow tub seal at the 10 o’clock position. It was caked with detergent, etc so I removed and cleaned. When I re-installed I added a 2-1/4” diameter pipe clamp to the upper end where this tube connects to the bottom of the plastic soap tray. I could foresee the possibility of that connection leaking, which if it happened would require you to disassemble the washer again. This video -- which only applies to this specific washer rubber door seal has been screened 263,000 times in the past 8 years. Gives you an idea of how common this fix is. Over the years I have bought many replacement parts from APP for a wide variety of appliances. Matt -- the technician-teacher is indeed “the Bob Ross of appliance repair”. Thanks again. Keep up the terrific work!
Thank you so much for making this video available..... After 14 hour work day was able to disassemble and rest. After a great nights rest was able to reassemble without any leaks or "extra parts" left over!
Watched the video. Ordered the part from them at 2pm on Black Friday 11/25/16. It arrived standard shipping at 3pm Saturday 11/26/16. Installed and done by noon 11/27/16. Well done video and instructions! Will use these guys again for sure!
Great video! My boot replacement was a breeze thanks to you. I originally watched a different video, which was not exactly my model, indicating that I would need special spring tools and that I'd have to disconnect wiring and remove the counter weights, with an estimated job time of about an hour. I only had to remove the top panel, control panel (no disconnecting of wiring), bottom panel and door and needed no special tools besides a torx 20 driver. It took about 15 minutes. Cheers!
Your excellent repair video helped with our washer bellow tub seal reinstall repair, and was much appreciated. Thank you! We will consider patronizing your web site for any future appliance parts needs.
Thank you for the helpful video! My wife and I just replaced our tub seal, following your steps very closely. I think we're good, but one thing we noticed is that the door doesn't stay closed as securely any longer. Once we start the wash machine, the door locks, so we don't have a problem with leaking -- that much is good! I will take the front cover off again and re-evaluate the placement of the locking mechanism.
Guys, thank you very much for posting this video! My retainer ring popped off unexpectedly and I wrestled with it with my bare hands for 20 minutes before I thought to come to RUclips and...LOCKING PLIERS, boys! Locking pliers! Once I executed this with locking pliers it went right into the groove. I have already saved your website and in the future, when I need parts, I'll order with you. "Appliance Parts Pro...if you didn't buy parts from us, it's not fixed!"
Matt and appliance part.com have the easiest to understand videos. I had an F5E2 error and an occasional leak across the top of the bellows. I found that the larch hook on door was a little loose. Checked and error code was still there. I didn’t know to how to delete codes. Manual was taped inside the bottom front panel. Inside the lower front panel is the drain pump with attached filter. I cleaned years of coins and other debris from the filter. No more leaking and I don’t need a new bellows. The loose door hook and the high water volume caused by the clogged pump filter were the problem
By far the best video on this type of repair. I have installed bellows before without taking the control panel or the front cover off but after watching this video I did and it made the repair much more comfortable to work on and easier. Thank you much!!!
Great video, very helpful. One comment to make things easier, instead of using a locking pliers, use a hook awl in the spring loop, not the wire loop. This make pulling the spring so much easier than locking pliers.
Excellent video. I'm told that the bellows that have been installed are failing prematurely. The reason is that people overtighten the clamp. Your tip of putting a black mark on it saved me from overtightening it for sure. The tip to use vice grips to help put on the spring seal was also a big help. Thanks again!
This was one of the best videos...I was able to follow along through the steps and change out the bellow for my Maytag. Awesome job...thank you so much!
+AppliancePartsPros what about the part of the rubber bellow that goes over a plastic ring to close the space between drum and water tank. if u dont stretch the bellow over that plastic your cloth can get ripped when it gets cought there.
That's a fabulous video! Thank you so much for posting this info. I replaced the boot gasket with no problem at all, thanks to the clear instructions in this vid. Excellent work! 1,000 thanks!!!
If your hands are small enough. And depending on where the tensioner screw is positioned for the inside wire loop. Its is totally possible to replace the seal without taking any panels off at all.
This is a great video and I followed the steps as best I could. The only problem I ran into is the door won't lock without me holding it! I took the spring clamp off and it will lock sometimes. It seems like the part of the boot that touches the door appears to be sticking outward. No leaks though when I use it. Any suggestions?
Thanks, for the great information. Only thing is, that I have my dryer stacked above the washer, which makes it very difficult to execute removing the top panel.
Thanks! My washer has a dryer stacked on top so taking the top off is not practical. Why do you have to take off the front? Can the repair be done without removing switches and panel?
This video is straight forward & is allowing me to fix my machine!!! I am also experiencing a malfunction with the start push button. It is not connecting consistently. Do you have a video for this fix? May tag 2000 series.
I'm glad to hear our repair video helped you fix your machine! We would need to know your model number to know the correct part number of the push to start button for your appliance. Good video. However, I just did this repair. Let me assure you, 100% that the top and front do not have to come off. In my case, it was a stacking washer/dryer. It was custom built in to a closet so it would have taken an hour just to get the dryer off and pulled out You just need a 90 degree drill adapter, to get the inside screw clamp off.
I looked at several videos but this by far was the BEST :-) GREAT TIP on marking the band that holds the bellow in place!!!! Since the bellow is rubber I'm guessing I could have easily tightened it more, which I'm guessing may not be a good thing! Without marking it I wouldn't have had any idea how tight to make it when putting it back on. One other video did not take the panel or front door off which sounds like a great time saver BUT I think it would have been way more frustrating trying to take the band of and even more trouble getting the bellow and band back on!! The only frustrating thing is that there are SO MANY varieties of washers that each seem to have a different trick to getting the control panel off :-( This frustration is not directed at you, its just a fact, not something you could have done better in the video unless you made 100 videos, one for each model :-D Thanks SO MUCH for putting this video out there, I can't tell you how much time and aggravation you saved me!
Oh, almost forgot... as someone else mentioned it was a nice tip on using the vice grips to get the spring wire back on. I'm sure I would have thought of this myself, but then again maybe not :-) Instead of vice grips though, I used pliers (couldn't find my vice grips). I think piers may actually better, since you can let go of the wire by letting go of the pliers. With the vice grips it's a little trickier to disengage them and I used my other hand to help keep the wire from slipping off while I let go of the pliers.
Great video. I replaced my bellows but not the door won't stay closed. If I hold it shut and start the washer it temporarily locks, the tub begins to move but quickly the lock light goes off and the washer stops. I did not have this problem before I did the repair, what did I do wrong?
My bellow adheres right to the washing machine without a clamp. Like it's glued there. Is this normal? It is a whirlpool wfw9050xw03. We just purchased a bellow replacement and cant continue on with the repair because the old bellow is apparently glued to the washing machine? Any advice?
well that makes sense.... i have no clamps on my machine!! i believe the last owner took a shot at fixing it and failed to return parts! my inner stays on but it definitely needs the ring around where the door closes, now i know there is supposed to be a part there ill check with my local appliance guy
I took my washer apart today and the secondary lip on the plastic seemed to be broken off in some parts. Is this going to effect the washing process or causing leaking issues or is it less crucial ?

Hello. I have a Whirlpool Duet that keeps leaking. I have already replace de hose for the soap dispenser and the boot. still keeps leaking. Don't know why??? can you help.
This video was extremely helpful and I completed it in about an hour due to a few hiccups along the way. Using the vise grips for installing the retaining ring to the front panel is a MUST. DO NOT overtighten the screws on the lock mechanism when reinstalling the front panel/door. It caused the lock not to engage and I could not run the washer. MOST IMPORTANTLY: be careful not to knock the fill tube from the dispenser off while removing the tub seal or installing the new one. Apparently the seal that connects the fill tube to the dispenser is notoriously bad and cannot be reused without leaking. I discovered it was leaking after running a test load (fell off three times while putting the new tub seal on). Do yourself a favor and just order the dispenser seal (8181747).
This video made my life about a thousand times easier and saved me a service call. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you for your feedback, Vic! We're glad the video was able to help you do the DIY repair and get it working again!

So if we didn’t do the mark, and the clamp has slipped off (twice with a tub full of water!), how do we find out how tight it should be?
@@Mystik0817 I would re-install it and use the mark.
Thank you this helped me out big time. Saved me a ton. It only took me about one hour. Thanks
Thank you! This video helped get the difficult spring back into place!

Excellent demo with clear instructions. Thank you!
I Needed to put the wire on after cleaning the gasket. Thank you for the detail of using a vice grip AND the direction of pull. I did it!!!!!
So grateful for these guys! They make it very clear.
This was one of the best videos...I was able to follow along through the steps and change out the bellow for my Maytag. Awesome job...thank you so much!
Thanks for doing this step by step.. took 90 min maybe.. that 3rd clip on the console was a beast.
Glad the video helped you get the seal changed!
Truely a life saver.

+Michael Diaz Glad the video helped out and thanks for the order!
