    I want to see him actually spar someone in the ring.

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  12 лет назад +2

    Already answered in this video ;)
    For further clarification. It all depends on your body type. If you're short enough, get under it. If you're tall enough, shoulder roll and counter. It also depends on where you stand. If you're right in front of him, maybe you can get closer to smother it. If you're farther away or off to the side, you can backstep or just lean back.

  • @expertboxing

    Yes, you can definitely counter a right hand with the jab. As long as the opportunity is there and you know how to use the technique correctly, many things are possible.

    thanks for the videos man these are amazing. I just started sparring and I kept eating right hands. I would either be too late and eat it by the time i try to slip or too close and not have good enough footwork to create the distance I needed to slip. Then I started doing what you showed in your other video, show them your face then show them the punch with a right hand right down the pipe. Not only did I land on them, but also made them much more hesitant to throw their cross. Can't wait to try these in the gym. Keep it up these videos are gems!

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  12 лет назад

    Definitely in the works. I did it for the right hand first because it's the scariest punch to defend for many beginners.

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  11 лет назад

    Yes, I am demonstrating the shoulder roll using a simple drill to help teach the technique. Once you understand the technique, you can test it in live practice mode. It's no different from a beginner learning how to punch by hitting focus mitts, and then later aiming it at an opponent's head. But really, it's an easy technique. The point is to focus on the timing of the roll, not the blocking position of the shoulder.

    DEFINITELY. Watch all the pro knockouts. I recommend watching heavyweights because they're a little slower for you to see. Watch Tyson knockouts....classic killer counter.

    Search all the tyson knockouts. And just look for boxing knockouts in general. You will see it again and again. The thing is most people notice the punch but never the setup.

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  11 лет назад

    I use every single one of these. And not just me but you can find videos of pros doing it. Of course, it's not always going to be so obvious to the untrained eye because the more skilled the fighter, the more subtle the movement becomes.

    Sparred this guy the last two Mondays. Sparred him yesterday and he gets me quite a lot with the right hand. I don't mind standing in there because while he's younger and faster he doesn't have the power to hurt me and I want to end up boxing in a close pressure/counter style of boxing anyway. He's good for me to practise the right hand counter against because he's my size but a little better than me but with little power. With that in mind, which one of these counters would you start with ? :)

    Hey thanks, great video's wish i found your channel b4...they left hook tips vid was amazing, that was teaching about tensing ur chest on impanct of before etc it was the exact sort of thing i was asking my trainer about but he couldn't answer it, and thinking about it every punch he and his fighters throw is a push shot, iv'e sort of felt that for a year or more i was right in snapping or whipping to mix up with push shots but he kept saying i was losing power..new trainer is in need i think

      cypresspuz
      "Never" is too strong a word. More like "very unlikely".
      It has a small chance to intercept but it's a BIG risk to take.

    • @CommKommando

    2:15 Right cross counter is the best

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  11 лет назад

    Well...everybody is trying to counter each other in fighting and the one with the better skills will probably win. Sometimes it has to do with a style advantage as well. But to be short...I would say try to do something else if what you're doing isn't working. Throw punches to hurt your opponent but try to throw them in ways that make them harder to counter.

    I don't have any videos on hand/knuckle conditioning and I've also never really bothered with it. If anything, I would say people with free time should do more core conditioning. That will give you far better performance results overall than working on the tiny bones in your hands.

    This is why you train your slipping so that you can slip with the smallest amount of movement and still not get hit. I'm pretty sure there is no coach out there who wants you to slip with the goal of having the widest clearance possible.

    Hey luv the vids could u explain the difference physically between loading up and not loading up, or how physically a thudding puncher differentiates from a snapping puncher, like froch and pacman? iv'e been boxing a few yrs but still find it hard 2 get what trainers talk about when they mention the physicality these issues, they never mention if ur tensing muscles thru a punch or stay loose until impact but they don't know the answer, i suppose different shots for different situations thx :)
