What you are hearing is more bass in the internal Roland sound, but if you listen with good headphones on you'll hear more detail and tonal complexity in VSL sample. VSL will sound more like an authentic acoustic piano (IMO).
Thank you for sharing your video! I really enjoyed it. You did a great job of providing a nice amount of detail, and your piano playing was lovely. I’m a fan of the Roland SuperNATURAL sound engine with the Concert Grand piano tone, and it sounded amazing in your video. Keep up the great work!
Sure, but that's just the price of decent entry level digital piano. He's not saying £600 isn't much money, generally. The FP10 is a decent choice and that's "only" £320-350.
Very nice review ! I got that piano days ago, upgraded from Roland Fp10. The thing is that i don't feel the difference in the 6 keytouch mods. If i use the FIX mode, feels the same as the SUPER HEAVY mode. Is the Fp30x like that ? Or its just mine ? Should i return it ? 🤭 love your playing, very nice.
I think yo should definitely feel a difference between the various touch sensitivity modes. Especially between the extremes. Heavy should take more force to produce a louder sound while light should take less downward force.
Did you notice that Signore Bello replaced this Roland by a Yamaha (mentioned in the introductory text under the video). I'm not into Roland, but is the "keytouch mode" just Roland jargon for "velocity curve"? If true, then changing modes does not alter the weighting of the keys in any way (which seems a reasonable assumption to me, at this price point). What resonates in my brain are the words of Stu Harris who reviews pianos in a piano shop YT channel context. Great musician, by the way. He once said, my paraphrasing, about a piano that you might feel it is too hard to make it sound loud and rather than alter its velocity curves, just set the volume louder. You see, with the piano's (the audio chain's) volume set to 1/4, you can never play fff. Set it to 100% (or 90% to prevent clipping) and it plays a lot lighter. The grams weight are nice to know and in real piano actions differ from instrument to instrument and their ages. What a pianist actually does is accelerate a hammer through a mechanism under each key. In a real piano action, as the length of the mechanism attached to a key changes from long to short (left to right), the resistance also changes. When you keep playing the same instrument you don't notice this consciously as you adapt your hitting of keys to the desired volume
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this e piano. I am considering to buy one and your experience is helping me very much. BTW i cant make a decision for roland or bösendorfer, both sounds fantastic. Maybe i am not experienced enaugh but roland sounds lauder and bösendorfer sounds more rich.
It's alway great if you can test pianos before you buy them. You can get good information from videos, but it's not the same as sitting down and trying the instrument for yourself.
I opened the wrong side and it made no difference. If you want acoustic piano emulation, get a Roland FP-30X or an FP-10 if you want to save a little and are willing to go with used. The FP-30X and the FP-10 have the same keyboard action and the same sound engine, but the FP-30X has some extra features.
Thanks. At least through RUclips and my simple headphones, I was surprised that I didn't feel any preference in the VST used. Personally, this pleased me, as I realized that for my needs I definitely don't need to mess around with VST. P.S. At the beginning of the video I really thought my computer was lagging (I have an old laptop).
Hi your VSL Bösendorfer what software and how did you connect to the Bösendorfer VSL and with what speakers in this video please 🙏🏻 inform me. Also are you able to change the weight of the keys on the Roland I thought I saw yes somewhere. I’m getting mine soon as a second Piano 🎹 bit like your needs. Mines same.
Hello. I was using VSL Synchron Piano software and the internal digital audio interface of the Roland. I'm not aware of changing the weight on the PHA 4 action in the Roland.
Hello. I have the intension to learn Piano and tried to compare what was available for me below 1000 euros. My choice is actually on this Roland FP 50X The aim is to connect it to Adam Audio T8V. The pedal you are showing, we have to buy it separately ? thx
I'm in pretty much the same position. isthere any thing better out there? Jazz (boogie woogie/blues) are my passion for which I think you need a good bass?
@@davidfarmer2049 if I had to choose again today I would.have taken something like native instruments S88 MK2 or something like that in order to let me learn piano (I like the Roland very much) but also get something modular connected to the pc to create music with my daw. How are you finding it compared it compared to the vst? I’m using a Roland fp90x on some of my videos and vsl Bosendorfer on others… love your videos :-)
Hi Helen, thank you for the nice question. The internal sound is pretty good, but it really doesn't compare to VSL's Bosendorfer Imperial or Garritan's CFX. Both of those sound amazing (with headphones) through the Roland. I like listening to you play also. Thanks for sharing.
Hi, what you are hearing is the Roland going directly into my computer via the onboard USB audio interface. What I was hearing when I was playing was the sound coming from the onboard Roland speakers (4.7" x 2 @ 11 watts each).
That’s the most beautiful unboxing music on RUclips
Your voice is so therapeutic 😊
I’m considering to order the same piano so looking for reviews.
Thanks ❤
Sounds incredible, great playing.
I could listen to you all night. Thanks for using Spiritual songs as your demo songs.
Thanks.
I have the FP 30 and even from my iPad’s speakers I can tell the 30x sounds richer and fuller.

Thank you. I'm currently playing a FP90X and I love it.
"Typical of this price point" said repeatedly.
£600 is a lot of money to many ppl in the UK at the moment!
To be fair, the point being made was not that this model is affordable in an absolute sense, which (I agree) for many people is not the case.

You opened it from the side that says: Please, don't open this side hehehe
I laughed at myself for doing that. 😀
I bought the same model as second hand and it seems previous owner did the same. This video was a relief 😅

That's funny about the computer lagging. I wonder how many other people thought that because of the slow-motion effect? Thanks for the response.
Does it support flutter pedalling ?
It's been several years since I've owned it. I think it supports continuous pedal function but only comes with an on/off pedal switch.

I just got myself a fp10
Why compare the sound of the fp 30x to the n1x? One is almost 10 times the price of the other.
Because that's the two pianos I had at the time.
Beautiful!
What piano tone is best and natural in Roland FP30X? Thanks
Hi. It's been so long since I had/used the Roland I don't really recall. Whatever I'm playing in the video is probably what my favorite sound was.
Hi friend, and why you traded the FP30x for the P125?.
I prefer the Yamaha because it's lighter and seems more responsive as a midi controller.

Hi. The FP30X has 1/4" line outputs. So you can connect it to an external system/speakers.

Guitar Center and Musician's Friend should have them in stock.
@@Comfort_One_Another sold out at both - they say that they will have more stock mid January
What kind of speakers are you using? (I can't see the plug). Thanks!

@@Comfort_One_Another So you can play VST sounds that come from your computer through the keyboard speakers? How does it work?
@@raneksi The upward facing speakers sound better on the 125 compared to Roland's FP 30x downward facing speakers.
@@raneksi The Roland has a USB audio interface on it. Makes connecting to the computer easy. You can play back sounds through the onboard speakers.
nice paino
I bet you play more than you work.🙃
Bosendorfer sounded very artificial and the decay was unnatural. Roland was far more balanced, rounded, fuller sounding. Much more pleasant.
Regardless, Kawai ES120 still top these two runner ups. Fp30x is overated because of paid ads. Too obvious
Terrible review bud. Where’s all the sounds?
Most reviews demo the sounds.
This video proves what I already knew. That the Built in piano sound on this keyboard is boxy, not musical, and not enjoyable to listen to.
Yeah, probably because of the downward facing speakers.
U should check ur ears buddy
Its a Steinway D sample. You must be deaf and used to Yamahas digital sound
