Is it perfect? No. Is it faithful to the books? No. Is this scene dramatic, impactful, and badass? Yes.
Nynaeve is my fav character from the books, she is awesome

This was my favorite scene in the entire show. It is a visual spectacle to look at.

This scene is badass in general, but combined with the groundwork they had already laid with Nynaeve (feelings developing for Lan, anger/fear for her friends, insecurity, distrust of Aes Sedai and power, etc) it is a tour de force. Yeah, it's different form the books but who cares? In this instance at least, they improved upon the source material IMHO.
(To be clear, there are other areas where they very much did not improve upon the source material)
So.....can Logain see Nyneaves weaves? he's shielding his eyes so he has to be seeing something right? But men aren't even meant to be able to see the passive "glow" of a woman holding the Power.
And Rafe gave the most frustratingly vague answer when question in an AMA.
I say, yes, and because of this, once he saw Nyneave's weaves, the power, he knew he was not the Dragon reborn, and was no longer a threat.

If women can’t see men’s weaves and vice versa how did she know a projectile attack was coming? Could it be because she saw their weave bending/moving and been a green knew what she would do if she were the attacker? Or am I giving Amazon FAR too much credit lol?

Idk man episodes 1-7 were fine with me, they made some weird decision but I thought in the long run maybe it would be okay. They really dropped the ball with episode 8 though. A lot of it just didn’t make sense like Agalmar and his warriors getting slaughtered when they had these powerful channelers with them and the worst offender was that they tried to keep “the dragon can be anyone” theme going all the way through the finale by robbing Rand of his badass moment. All the fake out deaths really feel like bad subversion writing that we see so often nowadays.
Idk I hope they can do a better adaptation next season but I don’t understand why adaptations have to be the director’s vision nowadays in expense of the original author’s well thought out story. I also don’t see how they’re going to make much of anything work going forward when they’ve gutted certain characters in the first season already. Minor characters I can understand for run time purposes like Matt’s dad, but they did Tom dirty by making him a sad forgettable loaner when he’s so important to the group.

Please give them a read they are fantastic and the show just feels like a poor fan fiction retelling in comparison.

As someone who had never even heard about the books, I highly enjoyed the series and look forward to season 2. Not knowing what happened in the books is so refreshing as you're not weighed down by the adaptations necessary to bring the story to screen. Comments going on about the books and how the show is different get on my nerves.
I consider the books to be my favourite series of all time and I feel the same way about those comments. I think a lot of people just don't understand adaptation...
Sorry it bothers you, but I think it is fair that those of us that have invested a lot of time and interest in the books are very disappointed in the series. Imagine for a moment that you went to the store and bought a cheese cake. You love cheese cake, your grandmother taught you how to make it, you are serious about your cheese cake. Then you get home open the box and inside is a pickle. That is how we all feel right now. They took a story that was not theirs and changed it all and they are using the fan base from the books to generate that initial interest in it. If they wanted to tell this other story, then tell it. Come up with your own characters and story and make it your own. Otherwise, this is just a bait and switch. Enjoy your pickle.

Some people have even less taste than I do in fantasy...and I enjoyed Time Bandits. This however is a bare echo of what the books were. If the books were a forest fire the show is a candles flame. Hopefully it dies before spawning another season.

;p the original story behind the show is better. But you will never be able to portray this story to its Max potential unless you spend tripple or more. Having said that I think they have done a fair job of it. It is going to be interesting how they act out the mental anguish about the choices they all have to make and reactions to the horrors they witness as the show progresses.
@@macroefish I have a hard time agreeing with that since only about 7% - 9% of what happened in the show was actually shown in the books. Cutting things because they had to makes perfect sense, but if you're filling the show up with a ton of things that never happened, then you're cutting things to show YOUR vision, not to better tell the original story.
@@macroefish Its a crap show that does not even try to follow the books. It is WoT in name only. Amazon should be ashamed at not even trying to follow the books. I know they could not do everything in the books but they could have at least kept storylines, characters and the way the world works the same. They dumbed down the one power so bad it just looks like the generic "magic" that crappy fantasy uses. Perrin was married??? WTF they are supposed to be young men just learning to be men. I could write a small book on how crappy it is but thankfully I can just tell people to read the original series for a good story.

This show started very strong, The Dark Army was legit awesome and scary. Nut the show lowed down real badly after a couple episodes and hardly even showed The Dark Army at all. It became mostly soap opera style talking about everything for majority of episodes. I hope next season can stay stronger throughout the entire season.
The armies don't really mobalise till later in the books. What you saw was just a skirmish of the full might. Lots more weird and wonderfull creatures yet to be seen on the dark ones side ;p this show has barely begun.

69,000 views only 771 likes that's all you need to know about this series.. you can only imagine how many dislikes the video has.... Fans of the book waited years for this series with great anticipation only to realize the series for Amazon was butchery of the source material and unrecognizable.... Big disappointment there's no salvaging it the damage was done in season 1.... That's a legitimate criticism of the series and not a knock at the 700 something people that actually liked it out of 69,000 Plus that watched this RUclips video...

I've read the books and I think it's a good series. Besides, not everyone gives like reactions when watching them, I usually watch a given video on RUclips and skip like or dislike.

There's way more to it in the books. There's 5 (?) Elements to the power and its how it's woven together determines what it does. Show is way over simplified. All the elements are seen in different colours, and is why the ajah have dif colour . Very disappointed this was overlooked.

@@Allenonymous I don't think they will bring in the different colours, or the fact that only male channelers can see male weaves and same for the women. They could easily have shown that in show.

I love Rosamund Pike and pretty much everything she's ever done... but I think she makes a terrible Moiraine. Then again, the character they've written for her is hardly Moiraine, so it's tough to tell. Better than the weeping, snuggling-around-the-campfire, complaining-their-bathwater-isn't-warm-enough Warders, though...
I wanted to like maybe love this show. As someone who read all of the books I understand that there would be no way to do the full story justice but this steaming dumpster fire doesn't even try. It is AT BEST loosely based on the books, by loosely I mean there are characters in the show who have the same names as some characters in the books. Other than that this is just another CW style teenage girl crapfest.
I can't believe Amazon spent so much money advertising this "power of friendship magic blast" contrived garbage while it let The Expanse rot, smh.

@@jonnyc4241 The Expanse is a sci fi series adapted from a series of books. It was originally from SYFY but was canceled after 3 seasons. Amazon Prime picked it up and gave it 3 more seasons, then gave it an ending, but an ending that makes it possible for other networks or streaming services to make a sequel. I haven't seen wheel of time, but i highly recommend the expanse and i'd say give it 4-5 episodes before deciding if it's worth watching. If you want a brief idea of what it is about, look up "The Expanse hype trailer" on youtube and watch that one instead of the trailer made by SYFY because it was garbage. The fanmade trailer should be enough to get you interested and i hope it does!

Save your time. It's crap (and I don't even know the books this is based on).
No. It's terribly written generic fantasy that bears almost no resemblence to the source material, largely awful special effects (they're showing you this bit because it's the best they have) and plot holes you can drive a truck through. Look at the ratings for the final episode on IMDB. Even most people who had been holding out that it might be ok by the end decided it was just bleah.
Skip the show. Its crap. The books are awesome tho.

I had such high hopes for this screen adaption. This episode was one of the best during the first season and it only fostered my expectations for this series. Unfortunately my hopes were crushed later on when the screen writers estranged further and further from the original material. With all due respect to creational freedom and the necessity of changes for a visual experience compared to that of a reading experience, The Wheel of Time TV series turned into the biggest disappointment a TV series ever did to me. The screen writers' lack of elemental understanding for the foundation the novels had laid down before and pathological desire to unnecessarily und clumsily reinvent story-arcs for characters made a 100 million $ series initially based on one of the greates fantasy novel series ever written into a shallow, below-average fantasy series attempt.
Even more disappointing than this disaster was the mere snootiness the writers and showrunners reacted to on social media regarding the criticism of long-time fans: instead of embracing and accepting the criticism as regards content they basically accused the critics of not accepting the racial diversity of the cast or being opponents of gender equality. Rafe Judkins had a great chance to create the best TV series ever made and failed miserably to even deliver something merely below expectations.
Give me one example of this snootiness. The team at WoT has never made any claims about people who don't like it "being against gender equality." The team has always been extremely passionate about the books and is actually very humble, the showrunner has actually said that he knows that not everyone will like it, and actually apologized for things in the last few episodes that were made clunky because of rewrites around COVID and a main actor departing.

Like a raising sun? But how ? Men can't see the weave of female half of one power (i.e saidar) . But when Nynaeve channels she uses all five weaves( air, water, earth, fire and spirit) . It could be the reason
I keep forgetting (or blocking out) how bad this 'adaptation' is... for anyone considering reading the books, be prepared - this show is Wheel of Time in name only yet will probably somehow manage to spoil all the best parts of the books. You're better turning it off entirely until you get through the entire series.
