Yes, they are hard to come by. But it's out of your hands at this point. Just hope for the best, but be prepared to get something you don't care for bc it's Air Force needs first.

If you go open general, and pick 5 or so jobs, like you said. Is it a sure thing that you will get one of those 5, or is there still a chance you will get something that wasn't your pick?
Are you allowed to use sunscreen in bmt? You talked about getting a few shades darker, but I'm not sure if we would be allowed to take some sunscreen that will last the 8 ish weeks!
No you're fine, Bc there are some things you probably use all the time that they won't allow you to have ! But since it's so hot in Texas they encourage sunscreen..especially bc you guys are outside a lot.
Don't be nervous...be motivated & dedicated to working hard & becoming better. You aren't the first or last person to come in with those numbers. I had ppl in my flight with those numbers..give or take a few. Some worked hard and made it through, some didn't. It's completely up to you Bc no one else can do it for you.

I got to tech school May 9. Started class May 16 and I graduate July 21st ! Tech school has its pros and cons..it's been a good experience for the most part.
Honestly...in my opinion of you don't have a reason to stay where you are currently (kids in school, you're in school yourself etc) reserve and guard aren't worth the trouble. You don't get the same experience or benefits
If I were you I'd start growing it out now so you don't have to deal with the crap I've been dealing with lol. I had an undercut for years before I joined & didn't know it was an issue until I got to tech school.

You may get lucky! I went open general but have a degree in the health field and they just gave me the job I wanted during week 3 of BMT.

There's always still a chance you'll get something you didn't pick but it's not likely

Of course you can use sunscreen..you get chances to go to the BX during training, you can buy more if you run out.
