You do realize that it was the same supercell that produced the tornadoes that hit Rolling Fork, Silver City, and Amory, right? I believe it was one long track tornado that hit the first two towns and then cycled and dropped another that hit Amory.

I have only been in one tornado and it was an F1 that hit a small area in Western Kentucky. That thing felt like a monster and did some damage and was extremely scary, so it is hard to fathom the fear that people go through when something of this magnitude takes place! Now, I'm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida...hurricanes are a huge threat, but at least we have days of warning before they strike, unlike the ferociousness of a tornado.

It’s far from an act of God. That tornado was nothing but pure evil. Good and evil have both existed from the beginning of time. The more evil this world gets, the more powerful the evil becomes. Here in Mississippi, we cling to our faith. It’s all a lot of these people have left.
Wow, they sure got pix of that awful thing !!! This has been such a traumatic night, one minute our storm chasers were just excited to see a tornado, and the next thing they were 100 yards from this monster, and everybody knew it was very destructive. They all went into search and rescue.
A monster tornado at night is by far one of the scariest things you can imagine. I hope enough people were informed ahead of time and ready. but I know that's not always the case no matter how loud and stressed the warnings are. God be with you
I was in this one in the car. It came out of nowhere. I had been driving towards it to get home not knowing what I was driving into. Darkness fell and all of a sudden the water hit. Not a drop but then an absolute torrent complete with rocking winds and terrible lightning. I could not see anything for the water and I couldn't tell if my wheels were on the road or in the air sometimes. When I got near home which is in out in the country half way between Batesville and Oxford I met it. God reminded me all our days are mapped and that gave me peace during immense terror otherwise. God be with those who've lost loved ones. Peace.

I've never experienced a tornado, but have had plenty of experiences with earthquakes. Sending prayers for everyone who was involved in this. My goodness it looks absolutely terrifying.

I have several times. They are terrible and it can destroy a house , completely take everything away wipe the ground it stood clean and five feet away not touch the house 10 feet away? The power of nature is unmatched !
I had a small one form near me strong enough to lift a recycling bin and lift it up spin it around a bit and drop it. I watched it a bit like what the heck is going on before I got out of there. It was so windy I couldn't tell what was happening. The dust was moving around in puffs like someone was breathing on it. Now in my defence I asked everyone if Washington got tornadoes everyone reassured me we don't. They lied. Lol.
Most of the homes were mobile homes, so there are no cellas. Also, the area is poor, so most had no storm shelters. A lot of people have died. Including a 1 year old child.
Thank you so much for your replies. I've spoken to on-line friends throughout today who explained the situation. I also read a story from a lady who had nowhere to run to and no vehicle either. She said she bought a helmet for herself and she and her furbaby hide in a hallway closet. I'm not ashamed to admit I cried. I'm bloody completely gutted by everything. ( sorry to those offended by my swearing but that's me letting it out)
As this tornado raced it’s way towards my home, I was sick with fear. Literally, sick, Teeth chattering fear. My friends and some of their family members had their homes, completely flattened. Nothing but the foundation was left. I have never been so horrified in my life. Someone sent this to me, and it has taken me 3 days to even finish watching. I’m shaking, now, as I type this. All they heard was the sound of a freight train

It was. Local reports here are saying that it was at least a mile wide and probably even bigger. The damage I have seen so far is just soul destroying.

EF3 easily, possibly even EF4 or higher depending on the remaining DIs. I was at a concert today and met someone and her friends visiting from MS. My heart now sinks for them all knowing that catastrophic destruction occurred near their home. Horrible, horrible storms going on tonight.

@@grams5025 the only people qualified to issue ratings for tornadoes are the wonderful damage surveyors from the NWS. Just because a storm looked like something you’ve seen before doesn’t mean that this storm is as bad or not as bad. Looking at the pictures in this video, you can tell that it is not an EF5 as there are homes still standing and debris piled up around the houses. Bad, yeah. EF5 bad, no.
this will probably be a high-end EF4. the NWS is quite picky when giving out EF5 ratings. the damage in this video was severe, but some walls were still standing. unless we see a building that was swept clean off its foundation, this probably won't be rated as an EF5, but an EF4. granted, this is but one small snippet of the damage, so it might change. hopefully the people affected can recover from this horrible event
I live in east-central Mississippi, but I've spent time in Rolling Fork, and this breaks my heart! My hometown, Louisville, MS, was hit by an EF-4 tornado back in '14, and we suffered major damage, so I have an idea of what these folks are dealing with. God, bless them, and have mercy upon them.
Reminds me so much of the December 10th, 2021 Tri-State tornado. It came within 5 miles from my house. It was a night tornado and it was absolutely terrifying. I pray for those affected in Mississippi 🙏♥️

I have experienced a couple of hurricanes & they are horrible but you have plenty of advance warning to evacuate/seek shelter! A tornado hits quickly with little warning! Praying for all those impacted by this tornado especially in the Rolling Fork area!

A majority of homes across the country probably dont follow building codes which is partially why.
Amory Ms, the town I was born in was wiped off the map by one of the tornadoes, amory is about 45 min from tupelo and about 10 away from smithville which was obliterated by a tornado in 2011
To add to how haunting night tornados are I notice that some lighting strikes illuminate it perfecting so you can see the outline and others do not. I can imagine looking up trying to see and thinking you saw it and hoping you didn't and having to wait for the next strikes to find out. Was a night tornado that took my town in 52. All the old folks had so much respect for what they could do and they all had a story about where they were that night and how they survived. But we haven't been hit in so long people don't fear the sirens like they used to.
Amory started by putting up blockades. People should stay away from devastated places so they can find the missing people and clear the roads so that power can be restored. It is all a big mess but prayers made big differences. God is good. Our days are all mapped and for some, their time had come. I was caught out in it and its power can't be put into words. The amount of water mixed into the wind made visualization impossible. And in the end we pray.
I pray for the families,that experienced this deadly tornado,may God help this community rebuild itself,from the damage and deaths!! And bless the people that came the next day with food,and prayer for the families.
Looking at a lot of the wreckage, what surprised me is how *squashed in place* a lot of buildings looked, rather than debris pulled away in a spread that you often see.
@@BKT42 But where do they go where they don't get sucked up? We have alot of stray cats and feral cats, I've rescued many, still have 13 in my apt and still feed many outside. Since I see so many outside here, I always wonder what cats do in big tornadoes.
I've lived hear in Mississippi for 46 years the worst part about our storms and tornadoes is the come in the middle of the night 9 times outta 10 I lost someone I cared for 2 years ago to that horrible monster in the middle of the night

Presumably, you noticed the SOS flashing from the pile of rubble on the right from 01:42.
I’m 2 hours north from there in southaven, MS we got a tornado watch and severe thunderstorms.
TERRIFYING.. I always worry about animals the most because humans can go underground. I feel awful for those who lose their homes. Ugh .. 😢
@@BKT42 But where do they go where they don't get sucked up? We have alot of stray cats and feral cats, I've rescued many, still have 13 in my apt and still feed many outside. Since I see so many outside here, I always wonder what cats do in big tornadoes.

I live in South Mississippi and it thankfully was above us, but I read that 26 people died from this storm.

This is the best footage I've seen of this storm so far. There seems to be evidence of debris rowing in either this town or Silver City.
That is abjectly HORRIFYING. Bad enough when they hit during the day, at night its all the more scary.
I've lived hear in Mississippi for 46 years the worst part about our storms and tornadoes is the come in the middle of the night 9 times outta 10 I lost someone I cared for 2 years ago to that horrible monster in the middle of the night
I'm really not looking forward to the pictures and videos when the sun comes up. I think this might be the first EF-5 in ten years.

Is this the same one that caused 20 deaths? Scary. I couldn't imagine living in Tornado Alley. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some people who have built underground homes who could afford it. A home is so much to lose and devastating to replace.
