I have only been in one tornado and it was an F1 that hit a small area in Western Kentucky. That thing felt like a monster and did some damage and was extremely scary, so it is hard to fathom the fear that people go through when something of this magnitude takes place! Now, I'm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida...hurricanes are a huge threat, but at least we have days of warning before they strike, unlike the ferociousness of a tornado.

To add to how haunting night tornados are I notice that some lighting strikes illuminate it perfecting so you can see the outline and others do not. I can imagine looking up trying to see and thinking you saw it and hoping you didn't and having to wait for the next strikes to find out. Was a night tornado that took my town in 52. All the old folks had so much respect for what they could do and they all had a story about where they were that night and how they survived. But we haven't been hit in so long people don't fear the sirens like they used to.

    • @fewferfev

Amory started by putting up blockades. People should stay away from devastated places so they can find the missing people and clear the roads so that power can be restored. It is all a big mess but prayers made big differences. God is good. Our days are all mapped and for some, their time had come. I was caught out in it and its power can't be put into words. The amount of water mixed into the wind made visualization impossible. And in the end we pray.
