  • Camping at Mesa Verde National Park June 2022 - our drive through UT and CO from Arches/Canyonlands to Mesa Verde - we could not camp at the Sundance RV Park because we did not have an RV. We went on to Mesa Verde Morefield Campground, where our tent blew over on top of the mountain because we did not use all of the guy lines. We enjoyed Mesa Verde anyway!

Isn’t the National park campground run by a third party? Costs are off the chart with amenities lacking. Did you find this to be correct?

I thought it was run by the park, we talked about the site with someone at the shop that I thought was a park worker, but I'm not sure. I would say most national park campgrounds that I have camped at only have a bathroom, some access to water and showers that are in a different location than the bathroom. Typically no electrical or water/sewer hookups. So yes, not much for amenities but the location makes exploring the park very easy.
