  • Mulch mate contacted me and said they had a revolutionary mulch delivery machine. He said it was super fast & better than anything out there....I had doubts. It didn't look like anything special. Out of sheer coincidence I was driving right past there shop on my way to the airport in Maryland. So I surprised them and stopped by. They had no clue I was coming. This is what I seen and it blew me away.

I have something designed for the little guy but still working on fabricating the prototype. I took 2-3 pieces of different equipment and put them together. Something to scoop, dump, spread, roll, and grade. I could see it mass produced in the $3500-$5000 range. Like a mini it wouldnt do any one task great but would be able to do multiple task and affordable. It couldnt compete with this on volume but you wouldnt have to push a wheelbarrow.

Considering, the amount of time it would take to use a lil 453 or S70 to spread this(closest comparison I can make as far as capacity on unit vs wheel barrow)...I'd say this is pretty quick...but,then it also boils down to employee costs,vs equipment costs...or what kind of time frame is allotted to complete the job(if it's not under a tight time frame, then goin with a skid and one other employee to spread...If it is an under the gun project,it sometimes is more cost effective for the cost of the extra employees,to get it done and on to the next gig)....Lots of variables and pros and cons in this situation, but definitely a cool unit..not sure about the price tag,but it'd be great for tree guys,if they chip into the bed with a chipper and have the capability of fluffing, separating and spreading all in one shot.. pretty cool stuff man...great vid as always👍

I was completely blown away and I LOVE this thing... However, we would only use it for residential mulch jobs and it looks like it will be a little pricey to replace one guy with one $30 pitch fork. Besides, we can back the truck up a driveway, drop whichever side/gate and have access to 15 yards from all 3 sides of the truck, not just the one corner. On our tight space residential jobs that requires precise wheelbarrows, access and precision is more important than volume and the bottleneck is rarely at the truck for us. This is truly an awesome product though and I love it for rock/dirt/other stuff so I hope they sell a ton of these.

Thank you for the kind words. We did a 10 yard test with one of the biggest landscape companies in the world and said the same things you said unit they saw it. It spend their entire crew up by 70% they said and they used 30% less mulch. They were very happy.

Who cares if you only have access to one corner. That one corner shoots the material right into your wheelbarrow there's no need for multiple access points.

They need to make a stand on the back so you can drive slowly and operate it

I'll run my system against the mulch mate system anytime, compact loader & dump truck scooping right out of dump truck and transporting to dump spots against the mulch mate machine, 1 guy operating loader can transport the same amount of 4 guys can with wheelbarrows, benefit - no pay out of pocket for wages for 4 employees pushing wheelbarrow. Been using this system longer than much mate has been in business and its super quick...
