Now I feel bad using it just because it is immediately associated with REZZ. I've made some dope tracks with the downsample but in my head they just sound like something that REZZ would have made :(
Holy crap. I clicked on this video expecting some crappy tutorial which would just show off your individual skill at creating something (trying to roast someone but I kind of learn stuff from zen world). But holy crap Julian. You've impressed me! This was more than just a 'how to write music like rezz'. As an FL user looking to switch to ableton I noticed how you talked about workflow, gave shortcuts and techniques detailing stuff you wouldn't really need to know "how to write music like rezz". It was brilliant. I learnt about serum and plucks, cut off modulation, the simplicity of automation and music, sampling and adjusting audio sample start times to get things perfect. I'm sure if rezz made a bit more melodic music you would have begun traching music theory and talking about the 7th dominant chord and why it's useful. Lord. I learnt so much from just this video which has nothing to do with rezz and can even be used in other productions. This is super awesome. Keep it up man, subscribed for more! ~M5R
Thank you so much for taking the time to do these tutorials. It has helped me a lot since I am a beginner, especially in Ableton. By watching your series of tutorials I have become more comfortable with this rather intimidating software.
I never watch ableton tutorials because they confuse me(and i use fl), but for some reason yours make alot of sense and i can actually understand them very easily. So thanks:)
Love that you include little tips for even the simplest of tasks, It's like you're a teacher at heart -- It really helps engrave the key concepts into the minds of the viewer. Great job Julian, keep at it!
Dude, I just got fruity loops 12 and have been watching tutorials after tutorials on how to use it, I am so excited to have found a tutorial like this, it has helped me a ton. Love how you explain it and your energy, thanks a bunch and keep up the good work :)
I was wondering if you have or could make a video making a whole track, the basics... Because I never get further than making the head of a song. Don't know how to intro it or make the drop after it :/
dang, actually pretty good content. Glad I came across your vid man. Never seen your content before now but again! lol glad I saw this. You get to the point with no run on bullshit.
Resubscribed since I might of had a fallout with you last year but your content is still best of best when it comes to nailing the modern hip EDM sounds of today. Keep it up. Hows LA?
Hey Julian! hows everything going?! Havent commented on any of your stuff in awhile been trying to produce some stuff that I actually enjoy and been looking for a sound that really inspires me, I had no idea who Rezz was and it totally fits that shes on mau5trap since the mau5 is one of my main inspirations, Thanks so much for the tutorial and introducing a new artist to me that is really up my alley. Keep chuggin on, hope everything is progressing for you! Take care.
im a little stuck at the beginning! you say to watch the mau5 pluck tutorial which i did, but then you jumpcut and the sound is very different from the one created in the pluck tutorial. I figured itd be fine but the entire track from there is based on this arpegiation thing where you hold a key and it triggers at 8th notes. How do you do that?
Wow, holy shit man, that was impressive. The sound of the bass line, that was a perfect description of that dark electro sound. With the usage of Serum, and other plug ins, do you see the benefits of just using the Standard version or Suite version of the likes of Ableton for beginners? I've heard mix reviews, but serum will be a must in my collection, and now that they have a payment option, should be in everyone's collection for sure.
@@JulianGrayMedia for some weird reason (and probably bc I'm super new to this!) I'm not getting that draw line for my Macro 1. Do I need to enable something through Serum or is that specifically through Ableton? Thanks in advance! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hey man your videos are awesome! How long did it take you to begin getting comfortable with Ableton to the point where you could start translating beats in your head to the program? I just started really focusing on producing music a few weeks ago, and I still feel kinda shaky with my ability with ableton.
I gave you a like on account of a great tutorial on how to get that awesome bass driven tune. But I have a serious pet peeve about the mouth noises, reminds me of someone chewing haha.
lovely video ;).. thanks for free dl. ..are you using any of the master fx chain? project won't read my ozone maximiser cos mine is more recent haha. just default on the ozone max.? danke!
I really love this videos. But i'm working on with FL Studio and I'm very appreciated that you can make a videos by using FL Studio. Anyway, that's lit man :)
Hey, where do I begin learning terminology for this type of thing? I'm just lost with half the terminology. I'm a beginner to music making and have just started so any direction would be nice..thanks!
Julian Gray Media It's cool thanks but is there a term for it or how could I search how to so I could maybe look it up. I really need to know for a track.
Bit of a stupid question, but I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere... How do you hold the keynote in Serum while messing with the LFO or testing what it sounds like and what not?

can you make this in logic pro x? im trying to learn logic pro x and im a complete beginner and everything is so confusing to me. but i really wanna be able to make this.. if not do you have any tips for complete beginners? im talking complete as in i just downloaded a daw for the first time lol thank you
The DOWNSAMPLE!! screams REZZ
I swear its in every song! lol
Now I feel bad using it just because it is immediately associated with REZZ. I've made some dope tracks with the downsample but in my head they just sound like something that REZZ would have made :(
Zen World don't man. More people than Rezz have used it before. It's a super popular effect
Love it thanks, it's exactly what I was looking for. Great tutorial
Zen World you are absolutely right. Would you please do a vid on how to use the Downsample? BTW, your videos are awesome.
The first time in my life I see a perfect tutorial. I always hate when tutorials tell you what to do instead of why. This was awesome

Standard and suite are largely the same!

Hey, where do I begin learning terminology for this type of thing? I'm just lost with half the terminology. I'm a beginner to music making and have just started so any direction would be nice..thanks!
I reckon start with very basic youtube videos
Hey Julian would you happen to know how I can use that pencil to draw on the chords using Logic Pro?
Logic uses a completely different system. Im not an expert of the daw
Julian Gray Media It's cool thanks but is there a term for it or how could I search how to so I could maybe look it up. I really need to know for a track.
What you're looking for is automation control in logic.
Where do people go to get there sample packs and sounds from?
Other than Abelton, what other softwares are pretty good for making good sound and intrumentals
logic pro, fl studio, pro tools, cubase, reason, bitwig, and if you're really cheap, garageband
What is the app
subbed🙋
which place i can find the sample
nice
Bit of a stupid question, but I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere...
How do you hold the keynote in Serum while messing with the LFO or testing what it sounds like and what not?
press a key, as long as keyboard midi keyboard is enabled.
Ah, I figured it out. I didn't have the Arm Arrangement Recording enabled. Thanks for the reply though, and great video! I'm going through many of your videos trying to learn the ins and outs of Ableton. =)
Brazilian Bass Please.
tnx
How do I draw those lines in 9:20 on Logic Pro X?
Can someone tell me who this Kid artist that Julian keeps referring to is? Also great video!
K?d. He's really blowing up right now. Think Porter Robinson meets Rezz
Killer, thank you!
the end sound sounds fire, but I have to learn a lot before i get back to this clip :(
Not as hard as you think man!
where would you say i should start from so i can get the basics down?
can you make this in logic pro x? im trying to learn logic pro x and im a complete beginner and everything is so confusing to me. but i really wanna be able to make this.. if not do you have any tips for complete beginners? im talking complete as in i just downloaded a daw for the first time lol
thank you
It's all relatively the same. I'm not familiar enough with logic to do a series on it.
Julian Gray Media that’s okay! I actually think I figured out a different way to make the sound!😊
Great!Describe
Great video! Rezz yes - and which "Kid" please???
K?d! he's blowing up right now :)
Fourth impact
Can you do one with Sylenth? Its the only synth i have haha.
may be a dumb question how do you add the cut mod on fl studio?
Couldn't tell you.

KOol!
Interesting...
