+-10spd is, in my experience, exceedingly rare in even "premium" Seiko movements. That aside, I hate the caseback on this thing. If you're not going to show the full movement, just put a solid caseback.
Absolutely gorgeous dial, well thought out presentation, and the bracelet and clasp look fantastic! The movement may leave something to be desired, but no watch is perfect (especially at this price point). I wonder how this would look on my gorilla-sized 8” wrist. 🤔
Nice ! The design isn't for me, like you said it looks like many other watches however that is very well executed. That dial....man they did a good job on that. Chinese people are very skilled and love the small details, this is a great example of that. Very impressive ! The movement is the let down though.
That is extremely impressive. I do wish they had chosen a different movement, maybe a La Joux Perret or even a Miyota 90S5 but I suppose I get the instinct to keep it all Chinese. The one thing I wonder, if this is the brand with the cave-guilloche. Either way, they did a great job with this, even the presentation is top notch.
This is certainly an interesting independent piece. I will say that omitting hacking seconds at this price point just seems odd in 2024, so I hope they can change that. I love that caseback design with the small window showing the balance - great touch. A boutique microbrand with true artisanal qualities is always something to celebrate, and I look forward to seeing their growth as well as the "all the best stuff comes from China" future.
I wonder if omitting hacking seconds is their way to suggest that they belong among the high-end brands like Patek and Vacheron that still eschew hacking seconds.
@@slateization I know they supply some of these cloned movements unengraved to be used by other manufacturers in their watches who can engrave their name and whatever they want on it. But I don't know any of those manufacturers or watches, I haven't looked at all into this, but I guess it would be stuff like the watch from this video.
The exterior is fantastic. I feel as though spending a thousand more for a meaningfully better movement would significantly elevate its appeal. Personally I can't spend that asking price for a watch that lacks so much on the timekeeping front.
I don’t like the case shape, the integrated band and the case back is an abomination. The dial is nice looking. The accuracy seems lacking for the price. 😒
Kind of contradictory to say this watch lacks character, then list safer options, don't you think? While nowhere near the level of the 3 brands you mentioned, Atelier Wen has been around the block in the microbrand sphere already with their porcelain dial watches.
I got one, just not this specific model. The nightmare begins with their order fulfillment; it takes months to receive mine while the founder just kept giving empty promises on the delivery date. The watches themselves are nothing to shout about but cheaply made. Sharp edges around the watch cases and a moving crown while adjusting (you can see it from the video as well).
Yes they do take time to deliver as the dials are very complex and take time to make and that would have been more than adequately conveyed to all buyers at the time of ordering. I’m assuming you are part of the dedicated WhatsApp chat group which would allow you to communicate directly with both the founders and the others involved? And as for cheaply made? Please quantify that. Mine doesn’t have sharp edges.
Which one did you get? It's a micro brand with heavy demand and all their dials are hand rose engine turned guilloché dials. Do you want a stamped guilloché? Then you can pump them out all day.
@@markhammerschmidt5315 Objects don't have meaning, we give meaning to objects. so it quite possible that you give this watch more meaning than the other commenter. No need to get your panties in a bunch. Be happy you are happy and empathize with those who are not.
@@MES1808NYC I agree with you… I’m not a big box fan either. I’d much rather have a nice leather sleeve or even a travel watch pod. Interesting review. The watch looks good and I trust that the quality will be fine. But the price is quite high for a Microbrand. There is no boutique where I could try it first on my wrist. I'm also wondering who is doing the service, once needed. Doesn't feel comfortable to send it back to China each time.
Atleast they are honest about their part sourcing. The same cant be said for many other microbrands
The same can’t be said for most brands, not just micro
@@KC-bv9kf Very true. A lot of "Swiss Made" watches have Swiss movements in Chinese cases, dials, and bracelets.

Thats because Seiko never regulates their watches. They come up regulated from factory. This is regulated from factory.
I get Sarpaneva vibs from this watch. The case shape and the dial say that to me. Nice watch. Something different certainly.
It also has a tuned down lug profile that is Czapek like. No surprising. In traditional Chinese culture emulation not invention is the motivation.
Thanks, Tim! I’m traveling right now but my Perception arrived after I left and is waiting for me to get home and open it. This was a great preview.
How was it?

JLC Reverso duo face classic medium does not hack at that price point.
How does the buckle wear Tim? The chunkiness looks like it would cause a pressure point.
Fun fact: dandong peacock make the best clone movements in those rolex superclones and aps and pps you keep seeing

Just got mine. Thanks Tim
Are they limited edition? Each dial color a separate limited edition? If so, what is the limit? Or no - ??
They're not limited but they only make so many (I think around 250 each color)... there's no way to mass produce them with a handmade dial.
That looks like a flat crystal. Page 26 of the booklet says double-domed sapphire.
It’s not flat. Very lightly domed so the description is correct
It's a nice watch. However, I'll be saving my money for my grail watch.

The rotor should be Chinese lacquer-red as a kind of Easter egg with a dragon mouth that is suddenly red and ferocious
"Piao" basically means floating in Chinese.
