    Your way of pruning is very sensible and sound. I'll be doing almost the same with my potted fig trees that remain on my terrace throughout the winter. I also tie up the branches and provide many layers of covering (with a little ventilation) to prevent die-back which is very key to their survival. It is definitely a labor of love and hopefully this Winter will not be too severe! Thanks for sharing! Take care!!

    Hey Lou, its John the guy who’ worked on the water line. You have a great channel here. Can’t wait to try and grow those figs. Nice meeting you.

      @John-su6ct Hi John! Meeting you was a great pleasure yesterday! Without you there, I truly believe that things would have gone out of control. Thanks for saving the day! I'm deeply impressed and humbled by the fact that you remembered my RUclips fig channel after only mentioning it casually just once. Those Italian fig cuttings are from a very valuable family Heirloom that dates back to about 8 decades. It's certainly a family favorite and one of mine, too. Please stay in touch, as I'd like to give some other favorites from my collection in the spring!!! Take care, and thanks again for all that you did for me on the job! Lou Monti

    Hi Lou. You talk about tieing your fig trees UP during the growing season where a lot of other fig growers recommend spreading the branches to allow more light into the tree. Can you expand on why you tie your trees up please. Thank you. I watch all of you videos and have learnt so much from you 😊

    The season is definitely winding down. I can’t wait to see what everyone is doing to improve their orchards. Even if it’s just one or two trees. I know I have some big upgrades and additions I can’t wait to see worked out. Good work Mr Lou!👍🏻

    When you do the figbid thing I would list them as a buy it now for a fair price. If done as a auction the price may skyrocket.

    Hi there. What are you planning to do with all these cuttings that were left after the pruning you did to some of the trees?

    Do you ever use wood chips for winter mulch

    Hi lou!! I'm wondering why you have some of your in ground trees in raised beds? What are the pros and cons of doing that?

    • @loumonti10
      @loumonti10  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi there! I would only advise it in situations where the water table is, unfortunately, too high for growing and harvesting figs for optimum taste and quality! The cons are that in cold climates, it's much more difficult to prevent winter damage to the roots, and the fig trees require a great deal more watering in all climates, especially warmer ons! Do you ever have mice problems girdling the trees under the mulch?

    • @loumonti10
      @loumonti10  2 месяца назад

      @bosquebear1 No, I haven't had that problem ever. Truthfully, I've never seen a mouse or rat on my property in 45 years. I understand that they can be a problem elsewhere, but I've always tried to be organized and careful not to leave anything lying around that might attract them. I keep my compost and manure in closed trash cans, etc. Lou Monti
