Really appreciate following your fig season. So much great information here. Glad to learn about the importance of apical buds too. Thanks for sharing.

Hello, you have some great ideas about how you want your trees to grow. Looks like you will have plenty cuttings available this year, you are calling them crab, for me will be like gold for my mind wellbeing. Just let me know when they become available. You should make a page where you can post those cuttings and take orders from like many fig grower are doing and make some good profits from them. I hope you would be able to do so, you deserve it.

As usual, you make good videos. I am thinking the branches that grow touching the ground will root and give the tree more root mass. I can't think that would be a bad thing. I am training my in-ground figs this way and think they will be easier to protect in winter. I pulled off small suckers in the spring and they rooted very well. I just uppotted from a quart to a gallon today. I am air layering any branches making figs hoping next year they will start making figs earlier.

this was my though too at the start of this it why i did some of them this way.. and some another.. but i noticed it stay a little cooler rite at ground level and made me wonder it it slowed the fruit set down because it not gettting the heat units as one that would be say 10 inches off the ground... i will prolly leave some this way to see just which way is best.... it does make them easy to protect like this... and next greenhouse will be super low cordons i love tring different ways.. thanks for stopping by
