Do you ladies know if it's best to leave the Dutch iris bulbs in the ground as a perennial, I'm in zone 7a. Thanks!

I live in zone 7b that borders 7a. I have Dutch Iris and leave them in as a perennial and they are doing just great. We found a clump in our backyard after we moved in. We separated them into 8 plants 3 years ago. Time to do the same. Tomorrow I am digging them up to spread them out because they've filled in and are crowding each other. We have 4-5 times more Iris flowers now!
