Not true at all. While there were many Irish and German immigrant regiments in the Union Army, the majority of Unionist were made up from native born northern men.
Considering most Americans are descended from those who immigrated AFTER this nation was formed, including the Irish, this is an interesting view. If Bill was actually able to do anything "legendary" regarding his xenophobic views - your family, and the majority of ancestors of what you consider "rightful" American citizens, would likely have suffered the brunt of that discrimination.
