  • Today, March 17th, 2017 marks the 10 year anniversary of me getting tinnitus. So I decided to do a vlog explaining how it changed my life. Maybe some day I'll do an edited version of this story, but for now this is what I have to say.
    If you choose to watch this, thank you very much. And if you know someone who suffers from hearing related issues or are one yourself, stay strong.

    Hi Christian Gregory....thank you for sharing your story about your tinnitus. I am happy that you found hope for your future and have had some great positive experiences with your life. You are also telling my story, in a way, so I relate to exactly how you feel with losing silence. I have had tinnitus since Sept 2016 bilateral, non-stop 24/7 due to an injury, of which I'm dealing with many other problems. I understand the despair, panic, deep darkness, anxiety, depression, distress and so many other feelings in trying to cope with this devastating problem. No one understands what you're going through unless they themselves have it non-stop and to your extent. I'm surprised I have any sanity left, and I'm still trying to find ways to cope. Your video gives me inspiration to believe that there is something positive somewhere in the future. Stay strong yourself, and thanks for sharing. I wish you happiness, success, and silence.

    I think my tinnitus is there since birth, I remember hearing the sound when I was a little child. Back then I thought it was a background noise everybody heard. So I can say i have really never experienced silence in my whole life, lol-

    I got mine 14th of november 2016 at the shooting range (so an accoustic trauma). Still not reached the first year but already gave up hope it will ever dissappear. There are days when it doesn't bother me at all, and then there are those days i'm very close to a depression. People who have it for a long time tell you that one day, your brain adjust's to it so you won't realize the sound anymore. Hope i will reach that point soon. I have 2 little lovely daughters who need a mentally sane father.

    I've got it for a few days now, in one ear. It's "interesting" how it is affected by your psyche, as the video author mentions in the video. It's like I hear it only when I think about it (which is 75/80% of the time). I seriously believe Tinnitus is like "the game", you know, that game that you lose if you think about it.

    your story made me cry man, i am a super sensitive dude myself and i relate to your life 100% the worst part, not tooo re cap too much on my crappy circumstance is, but nevertheless, ... i realized it had its almost 3 years ago to this date today. i found it with myself too, going to a back to back heavy metal concert. two days days in a row. without earplugs which was the worst mistake of my life and changed me forever. ditto. ... about 2 years ago though, however, ...... i didn't care for it much just by sleeping with the air conditioner on daily at night was enough.. im very busy during the day so it doesnt make me depressed what so ever so i ignore it, works well for me. anyway, .... lately i took advantage like you say not too.. and my love for heavy metal car stereo music had started to play louder and louder... but i belived i could tolerate it. a lot more. because im adapted to this lifestyle.... more frequently you know? .. welp/.. i had awoken the other night.. in a terror panic attack walked to my kitchen .. made a hot cup of tea not knowing what else to do ... in sheer terror of my own mistakes and self induced choices to play louder music by taking advantage ... of tinnitus conditioning. long story short.. i will pay will my life more now so, due to the fact that it has def. gotten louder... and i dont know if it will die back down to how it did the first year when i had my tolerance for it. didnt disturb my sleep much at night. now i definietly hear it through the AC at night a lot more. and only get like 4 hours a sleep a night which for me is good because my depression and poor negative dreaming ... startles me .. only at times.. other nights im fine and get 6-7 hours not even being awoken period. so im gratefull for certain nights. at the end here of my story. thanks for listening you are very insiparing to me. yes people you meet.. up and coming in the near future will not be happy about having to put up with your condition. however, to know i am not alone in this misery of life changes and circumstances... you cannot dwell on the past is all ive learned from this condition. you have to find a life that works out regardless of pain. making a trying attempt is better than sitting in your bedroom... feeling sorry for yourself. it wont stop because of thoughts you know? . thanks for making your videos man.. it helped me dearly this evening. once again take care ... life is still worth living in my opinion i wish you the best on your endevors .. we still have much hope dont we all :D

    I have been doing PhD research study for the past 4 years, primarily from NIH.GOV. My research consist of consolidation of articles, the most common denomonator that I could find was the dysfunction of the N-Methl-D-Aspartate-Receptor (NMDAr), this receptor is responsible for Glutamate transmission, a transporter system, this system is a fine tune calibration of how the nerves function, the NMDA receptor belongs to the family of 7 trans-membrane receptors, there are 7 layers of proteins called ligand gated proteins, these proteins have bio-mechanical valves that open and close like little drawbridges that allow certain amount of Glutamate when opened when Calcium ions bind to the NMDA to activate them open, the problems is when they become damaged they are suppose to be "normally closed" but when activated by calcium the stay wide open then we get this perception of high pitch ringing, we have a calcium influx and Glutamate influx, these two chemicals have a positive electrical charge, so it's like the brain is firing away and the brakes are blown on these receptors. How do we correct this, or approach a way to restore some calibration, slow transmission, or inhibit the process, well there is a solution, a solution that has little validity and is never discussed by neurologist nor GP, specialist, non existent in the medical community to address these disorders, the are called Antagonist Inhibitors. Antagonst Inhibitors cross the BBB, bind to the over active NMDA, and voltage gated dependant channels, creating a blocking mechanism, basically clogging the pore/channel and slowing this overactive transmission process, the problem is these Antagonist Inhibitors are Illegal, because they know they work, and do have some effect of relief. The primary business is Hearing Aids sales, however masking the noise is just a expensive band-aid, that does not address the root cause of the symptom, you just amplifiy sound to mask Tinnitus. There is another plausable soluton, a micro-osmitic water pump, the idea is to create Ionic homeostasis, this raises the water in the hearing to dilute excessive Glutamate, pH level, and other ionic chemicals such as the Perilymph and Endolyph, (Potassium ions K+,Sodium ions NA+), the research was proven to be very effective, however no funding was in place to get any implantable device approved by FDA, U.S. standard, simply the experiment was conducted, proved effective, then case closed. There are treatmenst that have been discoverd, tested, proven to be effective but once proven swept under the rug and forgotten or just dissmissed all together, maybe there was no lucerative business, or interest. Tinnitus is nerve damage, and has lost its ability to supply and Equilibrium balance (Ionic Homeostasis), we cannot go into and repair and heal the nerve function, but we can balance it, normally our vestibular system uses Aquaporin (AQP1) this is water, simply to balance the process of transmission of these chemicals in our hearing, when chemicals become over concentrated, it seems be be re-absorbed in the nerves and we get this over stimulated response, the perception of a sound called Tinnitus. My honest opinion, from my many many hours of research and reading, the facts, the means, and methods that have been proven, the business society (Hearing Aid Companies) do not want any treatment, cures or remedies, Western Medince yes, drugs, ect, yes, devices yes, but holistic healing NO, if there is any way, the protocol is a Hearing Aid, like a universal one fit all band-aid. We live in a controlled society, which is governed by large corporations, their interest is keeping the drugs as treatment ,and devices to sell the sufferer, but never get down to the root cause of the problem. The bottom line, there is no interest in genuinely healing a person with this conditon, the interest is making profits, and you keep coming back for more drugs like anti-depressants or devices. There will never be a change unless we change the system and how it is run. I have been suffering from Tinnitus, Hyperacusis, Sudden Sensorienural hearing loss (SSNHL) since 2007. I think everyone can have something to contribute in a meaningful way, we all (us sufferers) would have to band together world wide in order to make a deep impact of change.

    hi my friend you are not alone with that kind of condition. Mine are the same both neuron 15 years from now and last month after going back home from the flight my right ear developed a mechanical sound, like a lower frequency sound of a telephone dialtone and if i try to blow a pressure inside my ear and shifted the eardrums it will change the sound of the eardrum and sometimes when i woke up in the moening its a little louder and when you start to walk it will become unnoticed just only my neuro tinnitus is present. Going back to bed at night and if theres no other ambient sound and try cover my ear
    i can hear it again and a feeling of clug inside my ear although its not too loud like the neuro tinnitus but you notice the difference of the neuro and the mechanical sound.

    • @redfield4ever
      @redfield4ever  7 лет назад

      Don't worry. That part is related to the other condition I got when I got tinnitus. So if you JUST have tinnitus, losing weight (as long as it doesn't envolve you starving yourself or dieting unhealthily) is perfectly fine and can most likely even be a good thing since tinnitus often shifts depending on how high your blood pressure is.

    • @eb2291
      @eb2291 7 лет назад

      redfield4ever thanks man I've had for almost 6 month i think it got worse

    • @redfield4ever
      @redfield4ever  7 лет назад

      I bet you it isn't worse. But since you can't stop thinking about it, and you THINK it is worse that makes it seem worse. It's like an itch in your head, the more you think about not being able to itch it the worse it itches. You need to be subjected to something REALLY loud to make it permanently worse.
      I know it is basically no comfort, but know that I NEVER thought I'd be as calm and at peace with it as I am now. I attended group meetings, visited psychologists and have had probably a dozen doctor's appointments and in the end going back to living my life and just trying to focus on something else made me get through it.
      My best tip besides that is that you should surround yourself with sound. Music, television, movies, a fan, bird song, white noise, whatever. That helps you stop thinking about it at least long enough that you might be able to get a better state of mind to deal with it all.
