time to make some maps! 🗺
I backed the Kickstarter and started using this in the beta test. Before Dungeon Alchemist, I had nearly 800 hours in Dungeon Painter Studio, making maps for my games. Since Dungeon Alchemist, I haven't opened Dungeon Painter Studio once. Dungeon Alchemist isn't perfect, but it's easily the best software on the market for creating maps for people who don't have the money or the time to spend on Photoshop.
I cannot recommend this enough!
Agreed, there's still some improvements, but it truly is an excellent product + they've been very good on their updates, interaction and support with the community.
The only thing I'll say re: photoshop - -"GIMP" free +opensauce.
I don't do tabletop RPG but I'm tempted to get this just to play about with it, Sims style.
What I was thinking 😂😂 I wish the sims 4 had this graphics. The sims 4 sucks
honestly, same xD I stumble upon this video because I am searching rn what people are doing with this software except making maps for tabletop/rpg games. I kinda really wanna have it but what am I gonna do with the maps?
@@iramage2235 You don't need to export it as a map. Just create a mini world and enjoy walking round in it.
The new update fixes and tweaks a lot of the odd little things. Definitely should do another quick retake of this.
Why in Gods name can this not be exported 3D into TableTop Simulator?
You know, that is a great question!
While I don't know the exact answer, my experience in game dev has taught me that the biggest hurdle would be exporting Dungeon Alchemist assets into a whole new game engine. They are entirely incompatible unfortunately. This also doesn't take into account the numerous licensing and copywrite issues that would stop any efforts of exporting.
But man, it certainly would be nice for this to be a feature!
+1
Can other people login to the map for each of there characters? If not what’s the point of going to eye view
@@chewbaccavader6538 No, but you could use this on a PC connected to an upward facing TV. A bit of plexiglass on top and now you've got a dynamic battle map for tabletop RPGs!
@@OSWguild So does it have screen extension features? How about Fog of war features. That's practically a requirement.
I saw so many ads for this, but felt it was waaay to convenient to be true, so I didn't back it. But it seems like my doubts were off.
Those seats would be called pews Zen

Should check out the new update that came last week ;)
You now greenwalls there you can load your own stuff on it and many other things
I was just looking last night! There is a bunch of new stuff that makes it even better than before!
It seems a really well done procedural tool, with its own limitations but cool
My only problem with this thus far is I don't know how to show this to my players without the roof tops...how the heck do I add rooftops? Ahhhgg!
the reviews r so positive
does this software have a way to export it as just a digital 3D map for say an asset in unity?
I've tried DA. It's alright, but the maps are always too small.
You can change the map size
@@Xathonn I tried that. Maybe it was an earlier version, or I just don't understand how to use it properly. The largest I can make it only allows for a few medium sized rooms. How do you increase the map size?
Really frustrating that I can't seem to find dungeon map builder reviews where the reviewer actually builds a dungeon. Everybody is like "let's build a tavern!" Thank you for at least, like, showing one, I guess.
Any way to do multiple levels? Like an upstairs and downstairs?
Not natively, but my recommendation would be to create multiple maps with the static black tile set--rather than grass or other natural tiles.
This is awesome!!!
peter gundry in the background :P
Imagine if this was in Talespire
can I save the image and ppost it to group chats?
Yes!
This one is not for me, Zen, as I do not have a creative bone in my body - I am a consumer all the way... ;-) I do like the concept though and wish all who use it "much happiness"
So does it mean that there is no multiplayer? Your players don't need to buy dungeon alchemist to play the 3d world because its only a map builder and top down 2d export? I can't find any info on it.
Correct! It is just a map builder.
@@OSWguild i wish they did some sort of jackbox thing where one person owns the game and your players can log in on their web browser to play the map. Its a shame that such a good 3d engine is limited to 2d top down view export.
Do they retain the creative rights if you publish your creations?
I don't think you could sell your maps, but you should be free to share them!
Technology!!
This game is like a clone for UNDERTALE
