    Hi! Thanks for this, but i was hoping if you could help me know who (from a list of expected responders) did not respond to a survey in google form from a specific date?

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  3 года назад

      Hi MaryJane! For a specific date, there are two things you can do. Within Forms, you can go to the responses section and sort by the Date to see the responses on each day. Second, you can go to the Sheets link that this generates, and filter the form by that date. Then, sort by the name of the students and you should know who has not submitted on a specific day. I have a more detailed video on response sorting if you are interested: ruclips.net/video/ZRLgAp0u9Tg/видео.html. If you have any questions, let me know and thank you for watching!

    Hello, I'm a teacher. I use Google Forms every day for parent pick- up. I need to keep all past info saved. However 300 answers later I want to start a new sheet without losing answers. How do I keep all the information in the same Google sheet but just on a new tab going forward? Thank you, Teresa

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  3 года назад

      Hi Teresa! Since it is necessary for you to keep the replies, you basically have two options. The first is to edit your existing worksheet-so you can hide the current cells up to row 300, and then the worksheet will look fresh the next time you access it. To hide cells, select all the rows you wish to hide, Right click, and click “Hide Rows.” This will of course mean you have 300 hidden rows. A way to keep the data *separate,* however, is to unlink the form, delete all responses from the Form [this will not delete them from the Spreadsheet, but instead just restart count on the form itself], and then link the form again to a new Google Sheet. Step by step instructions for this are on a blog I found that I am including here: wafflebytes.blogspot.com/2016/09/google-reset-form-for-reuse-with-new.html. Hope that helps and thank you for watching Teresa! Let me know how it goes :)

You can input them directly on the Google Sheet or the option I recommend-click on the link you sent them to fill out, and just fill out the form as if you were one of the students. That will still show a submission, and you can do it without messing with the Sheets file that has all your data. Thanks for watching and commenting Oscar!

    Thanks very much, Abdul for such a nice video. Just one thing I want to ask. So say you take attendance for 1 month and each class have say, 60 students. Is there any function that would count how many days the student was absent?

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  3 года назад +2

      Hi Bhavin! Glad you found it helpful! So the function I use is the “CountIF” function with the student’s name. So for a student named Andy, it would be something like =COUNTIF(A2:B60, “Andy”) which would calculate how many times he is present. To get the number absent, you would just subtract that from the total days of attendance. So for a 30 day cycle, it could be something like =30-(COUNTIF(A2:b60, “Andy”)). I have another video where I sort out some formulas if you would be interested. ruclips.net/video/ZRLgAp0u9Tg/видео.html. Thanks for watching Bhavin!

    Welcome! I would like to ask for your help, unfortunately the question is not simple: I would like to be able to apply for trainings in several languages, for example, can only one e-mail address be set? And is it going to apply in all languages? Is there a way to set up multiple email addresses? So everyone can write / apply through the same Google Form, but e.g. if you write in German, will the letter go to a given mailing address, if you write in English or Spanish, can you send mail to another mailing address or even to several mailing addresses in one language? Is there an exact description of this somewhere? Thank you very much for your answer, your help in advance!

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад

      Hi József! Thank you for watching! So, if I understand your question correctly, you wish to collect responses from multiple sources in Multiple Languages, correct? I did not find a video with this, but there are two ways you can do this. The first, as you mentioned, is to make multiple Google addresses and make forms in each language. As a result, each email address will only receive the results from its language. The other option , which will result in all responses in ONE place and can be filtered, is to create a form with multiple SECTIONS. You can make a drop down question in the start that says "Select Language" and then based on the answer, the person can be jumped to the section you have created in English, Spanish, etc. That will allow you to make ONE lengthy form in multiple languages, and people can pick based on what language they use. Would you be interested in that? I can provide further info if you would like. Thanks for watching József!

    As a teacher, Is it possible for me to take the attendance of my class for the whole month in a single sheet using Google Forms. Students names in rows and dates in columns with either P or A entered into respective cells for "Present" and "Absent"

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад

      Hi Venu! Yes-you can format it that way but you will have to do it manually. The Google Sheet will only capture subsequent student responses vertically-meaning one row for each response. To make them each where it is only one row for the student and all their responses appear in a line, you would have to take that month-long sheet of answers, and copy and paste each individual student’s answers into their row. Hope that helps and thank you for watching!

    i look for a way to relate a form which auto-appear everyday (workday) to fill a sheet for a months or even a year (or unlimitited), NOT just a single sheet every form made. And that form only can fill with the correct student ID in classroom ( email address). Maybe its gonna be like a script-form to fill a cell which relate to email and date in a google sheet.
    For the attendance , now i prefer using an ungraded-assignment, then i use "gear" icon-menu at the assigment to save it as csv, and then copy it (just the completion column) to my attendance collector sheet in excel. Its more simple and easier for student, since they just need to click the submit button. And not necessarily worrying about date like if using google form.
    But it has to be done every day and I have to delete the task because it's going too messy.

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад

      Hi Siput! I completely see your point; that's why I use the system of keeping one link as I showed in the video above--it allows me to re-share the link every day and all the responses go into one sheet. It's a bit of a hassle counting all of them (a lot of filtering required) but at least all responses go on one sheet. But yes--I totally see your point and I have several colleagues who are also preferring the daily ungraded assignment for attendance. Some of them even make it fun (like asking students if they prefer pizza or pasta!) Thanks for watching and sharing your method as well Siput! :)

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад

      Hi Sherri! Thank you for kind comments; glad you found it helpful. Yes-you will need separate forms to keep separate spreadsheets for each class. Also, you can leave the “show link to submit another response” unchecked; in my opinion, it’s not necessary for this type of form because students don’t immediately need to submit another right after they have submitted it once (as they should only be doing it once a day). Just make sure to allow people to submit multiple responses, as they will be answering on the same link/form multiple times. Do let me know if you have any other questions and thank you for watching and commenting Sherri!

Respondents will be required to sign in to Google." Make sure that checkbox is NOT CHECKED. Hi Chimi! Doing a single sheet for every teacher in a school might be a bit cumbersome, as that would mean a lot of responses. I would recommend doing only one sheet per teacher, and I would set that up as a simple form. If the students are signing in to their own attendance, you can just have each teacher create a form like one above, and share with the students. If you want teachers to take the attendance, I would recommend a form with the following questions (in the parentheses I'll include the type of question you want to give): Date, Period (let the teacher list the period they are taking attendance for) and then a checklist with all the students from that section. The teacher can check (present) or uncheck (not present) and fill this out for each subject. This would require the teacher know their full roster. Again, if you want to do it schoolwide, I would recommend students also have a question with "Teacher Name" and "Teacher Period" or else it can get really difficult to filter that many responses. Hope that makes some sense and please let me know if you have any questions! Abdul

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад +2

      Hi Mark! Unfortunately, built into Google Forms, that is not an option. I read online that you can use a script called “Form Ranger,” but to me personally, it seemed like more trouble setting it up. For that reason, you might be better off just letting the students know not to enter future dates, or even just getting rid of the date-it would then only show you the time stamp when the student submits the form, and you can still see what date they submitted it with that. Hope that helps and thank you for watching Mark! :)

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад

      Hi! Yes you can. Basically, you can design the form however you wish. In my opinion, the easiest would be a Checkbox Grid where you have each Row as a different student and columns with Present and Absent. Then, you can prefill the form (instructions here: support.google.com/a/users/answer/9308781?hl=en) so that each of the students are marked present by default and then send that prefilled link to teachers. Then teachers would just have to fill who was absent, and they can either submit the form or just mark the correct kids absent and email you a PDF of their responses. Hope that helps and do let me know if you have any questions!

      Hi Najmus-happy to help. So, let’s take it one step at a time.
      1) Look at 4:05 in the video. Notice how I clicked on “Send” to get a link.
      2) That link is what I need to send to students so they can fill out the form I have created.
      3) I can send this link via email, Google Classroom, etc.-whatever system I use to communicate with students.
      4) Clicking on this link allows students to fill out the form.
      5) I count each time the student fills the form as one entry of attendance (each fill has the date and time, so I know when they filled it out).
      6) So the student clicks on the form on January 1, and then fills it out.
      7) I go to the Responses page on the form to check his response (see 5:48 in the video). I now know that is his attendance for January 1st because his response has date and time.
      8) On January 2nd, the student clicks on the SAME link and fills it out. That is his attendance for January 2nd and I know it is his attendance for January 2nd because it has the date and time.
      That is why students need to fill out the form every day, and they can do it on their computer or their Android phone as well. Does that clarify things? Do let me know if you have any questions and thank you for watching Najmus!

      Hi Mrs. Khalid! You would basically have to filter by student (select the top row, and then click the Filter button). Then, when you have filtered only that student for the month, go to any column, select all entries, and in a new cell, enter the formular "=COUNT(range)," with the range being the cells. Hope that helps and thank you for watching Mrs. Khalid! :)

      @PakistaniPepper  3 года назад

      Hi! Thank you for watching! An easy QR code generator that I have used in the past is Bitly. So what I would recommend is first make a Google Form attendance you are comfortable with (for example, like the one in the video) and then you can follow the steps on the Bitly blog to generate a QR code here: support.bitly.com/hc/en-us/articles/360030557072-How-do-I-create-a-QR-Code-in-Bitly- This will allow you to create a QR code that takes people right to your form. Please let me know if you have any questions and I would be happy to help out! :)

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  3 года назад

      Hi Afsheen! My apologies for the late reply. If you want students to fill in attendance from several days (or months), you will have to ask them to fill out the Google Form multiple times. Each time, the students will have to pick a different date for the question that says "date." That way, your records will demonstrate attendance for each of those days, for each time they fill out the form. So you would say they have to fill out the form once every school day from 10-4-2020 to 13-1-2021. Then, as I showed in the video, you can sort by date or name and get all of the responses.
      Please let me know if you have any questions and I understood your question; my apologies as my Urdu is a little bit weak.

    Can we use google form to clock in and clock out from the same form? I try to avoid building multiple links for this purpose.. Tq..

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад

      Hi! Yes--you can definitely use it to both clock in and clock out without having to create two forms. Just make one form and make one of the questions, "are you using this to clock in our clock out," then make it multiple choice or dropdown and make one of the options Clock In and one of the options Clock Out. That will keep it all in the same link and when you receive responses, you can filter by Clock in and Clock out. Hope that helps and thank you for watching! :)

      @@PakistaniPepper tq for your reply... Currently im using 2 checkboxs in my question which is one for clockin and the other is clockout. The user will choose either one and just click submit after that.
      The problem is when it comes to csv report. Once user clockin, the data will create new row, then clockout is also create a new row. So i can't calculate how many hours the user was worked on that day.. Cause the timestamp for clockin & clockout stack under one column. Im not sure excel will allow us to calculate in column. Any advice for this? Hope u understand. . 😁

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад

      Happy to help I think I understand--so there are two different submissions, with two different columns. One has a time stamped punch in and the other has a time-stamped punch out. Would it work for you to create a new column with the function =(Cell 2 - Cell 1), where Cell 2 is punch out time and Cell 1 is Punch In time?

    • @alieymw
      @alieymw 4 года назад +1

      Yes. Cell 2 - Cell 1 is my plan. But both of it is currently in the same column. Can we make a formula to calculate item in the same column in excel? For eg: B2-B3. Imagine i have a thousands of rows to calculate.

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад

      I see your point. I think sadly, I think that is the way it will have to be: B2-B3, with quite a bit of playing with the cells because after multiple submissions, the cells might not even line up as cleanly. I am asking my tech friend what he does; if he tells me anything useful, I will definitely share with you :)

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад +1

      Hi Priyanka! It's not a problem but it does require some organizing. Basically, as long as you're using one form and one link, all the responses go to the same Google Sheet. Therefore, you need to set tabs for each class, and filter and organize the responses. I made a more detailed video on how to do that here, that I'll link at the end of this message. • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад +1

      Hi again Debora! Yeah--that's just an additional step I take because I like having a "clean" date to sort with--the timestamp has too much information and doesn't look the cleanest to me. • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад

      Hi Gayathri! In order to make sure they are required to use their email, notice how in the video above at 1:54, I made sure "Collect Email Addresses" was checked in settings. This forces the user to login before they can respond and the system will automatically collect their email address. That also helps with issues of security because then only the person using that email can fill in responses, and you can always see the email in your list of responses. Hope that helps and thank you for watching and commenting Gayathri!

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  4 года назад +1

      Hi Sara! Yes! I am using the same link as well. In that case, the most important thing is to make sure you have one question about WHICH class. That way, when you open the responses, you can filter via class rather than having all the students in one big block all the time. Otherwise, the sheer amount of students will become overwhelming very quickly. Thank you for watching! :)

    How to track who has not attended?

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  2 года назад

      Hi Sankar! Tracking who hasn't attended is a bit trickier! Since someone would not be signing themselves in as present, the only way to note that is as the teacher. So I like to create a form with my entire roster, and then just add one checkbox of "Absent." Then I just click off the ones who are Absent, and note that in the responses. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any questions!

    How can we trace absent students

    • @PakistaniPepper
      @PakistaniPepper  3 года назад

      Hi Durgesh! You can trace absent students by doing a "COUNTIF" function where it says the student's name "COUNTIF(Student)." That will let you know how many times they are there.
      If you want to take attendance on your own, you can make a form that has the daily date and then a checklist of each student. That way, you can check off which students are present each day, and easily also trace which are absent. Let me know if you have any questions and thank you for watching!
