It's really a big problem that many people think BeamNG is just a car crashing game. And as the game gets more popular or mainstream (unfortunately because of tiktok videos and other trash content, like beamngshorts), more and more people will be interested in the game just because it's popular and not because they understand the point of the game. And they think it's just a car crashing game.
whats the problem? People can interpretate the game in any way they want, as long as it does not directly affect you. They dont understand the point of the game? You're saying it like this game've got a deep lore and a very enlightening story behind it. Like cuh just let people do what they want. I'm sure devs are happy to get more money
The YT shorts is very relatable. They just make beamng look like a crash meme game. While beamng is actually a physics based deep customization simulator game and should be appreciated

I swear to god that people don't really know what is going on inside this wonderful game, the difficulty and challenge of this game is completely hidden from people who watch people like Beamng Shorts. I love how you seem to be one of the few people who understand this.

I have easily spent an hour comparing older and modern vehicles deal with low traction in offroading. The crashes are great, which is what I came for in 2015, but stayed for the driving and customization.
I also hate that people crash to eachother all time. Or pick canon and shoot balls everywhere. Like i wanna cruise with friend not crash into eachother....
The worst part about NetNuka is that he doesn’t even edit the jbeam. He just steals, meshslaps, sells it for way more than any BeamNG mod is worth, then calls it a day.
this applies surprisngly to American truck simulator, were there are lot of awful paid mods, plus SCS software DOES NOT allow payware content, quite shocked they're still up
Nice video, but i've got some clarifications - Beamng shorts uses mods from trans modders while making fun of trans people - too many modders are getting into modding with no experience and begin making paid mods without understanding how to make them good first - I don't see really anybody call this game "just a crashing simulator", the whole time I've been in the community. They are nice, but there is a lot to be desired, look at gt7 or modified assetto for graphics - People do private mods for 1 of 4 reasons, and non of them are to flex on people. 1 is websites like modland, worldofmods, modsgaming, etc. people used to upload public mods and get money from ad revenue, so russians who would upload someone else's passion project would get money off of nothing. (this is actually why private mods were a thing in the first place) 2 is the modder doesn't feel like the mod is good enough to be public, not all mods need to be released. If I make a car for traffic, and it has a lazy jbeam and model, I'm not forced to upload it, especially if its dogshit. If you have spent any time reading the beamng forums, people there do not like lazy mods. The last thing I want is making people hate me and thinking I'm a shit modder cause I didn't want to dedicate 4 months of my time making the car perfect. 3 is the modder is using a model they don't have permission for, so for example I buy a model from a guy and he says that I cannot release the model anywhere, that means that I cannot make a mod public using it. Remember, this game is not assetto. There is no protection against model ripping software. The only thing you can do is cache the dae into dts format so that blender cannot open it. (This exact thing is happening rn with a s13 mod in development by mysterycat69) 4 is the mod is unfinished. Modding for beamng can take a very long time if you want to make mods properly. I will give people I know the mod so they can find bugs with it before I release it, publicly or privately. I don't mind if people like taking pictures with them, it's not my say. Even so, why does it matter If I give my friend a mod I made, even if I'm never gonna release it? let people have fun with their time, modding is a hobby for private modders after all.
realy good video adressing the things that are wrong with the beamNG community, but i don´t get the randomly boosted audio, in my opinion this would be a far better video with regular volume levels, but nontheless great efford, and a good video.👍👍
i wish beammp devs would create filtered servers with vote kick so that people who wanna rocket bus spam, node grab, and crash the sim can do that; but the people who just wanna cruise and enjoy the game for what it is can do so in peace. Its so frustrating putting effort into well tuned configs and learning how to drive the car well but get harassed in every server by the beamng shorts viewerbase. it ruins the immersion. I dont like gate keeping, but these people are harming the community.
Finally, a video on this topic. Thank you for bringing all these points up, I personally dont agree with paid mods overall, regardless of game, but I cant do much about it and atleast BeamNG hasnt been filled with paid mods with no quality, atleast yet.

I agree on everything you said, especially the private mods thing. It happened to me many times to stumble across situations where good looking cars are private. I've seen a comment in a YT video blaming it on the fact that "the creator doesn't want his mod to be crashed all the time", which brings back the problem of the "crash simulator". I enjoy all sorts of stuff in Beam. I even use it for flying! (flight sticks work in BNG) and I too think that the damage physics are part of the experience, but not the main focus of the programme. Overall great video with good points! (perhaps a little suggestion on using less bass-boosted parts, but I don't mind them too much)
I'm gonna have to aggree with just about everything you said. I like the LucasBE and LJ74 paid lore-friendly mods. But modland is garbage, i got a virus from there; I don't recommend it. Also people bragging about paid mods just makes me somewhat mad. And i think BeamNG has a lot more potential than just being crash car, haha funni.
I really wish there was a proper site for mods on beamng that wasn’t so filled with viruses. I know there’s the official repository and mods on the forums but it’s just a pain trying to find what you want or even get something approved.
Sometimes it's really sad what people say about BeamNG like "ohhhh it is just a crashing simulator, nothing else", even if they have no idea what BeamNG really is. Plus with paid mods, I mean if they're lore friendly, I have no problem about them, but like those paid 💩 mods with no quality (like mentioned and showed in the video), those should never exist at all. the people in the community is fine i'd say but a bit of it is a bit weird. Still nowadays I see people bringing back a old mod without the owner's permission and gets it removed. Kids in the forums begging for a unreleased mod just because they don't know how hard it is to mod, or begging for a private mod.
I agree with the Private Mods bit, I have several Private Mods myself mostly for RUclips content but sometimes used for Screenshots. I don't say shit like "look at me, i got private mods", i literally say nothing but i notice some younger people who have "private mods", their immediate reaction to anyone asking where they got them is hostile, immature and rude. What you should say is: "It's private, sorry." and if they ask who made it, you say "They'd rather remain anonymous". For anyone wondering why Private Mods are private, here's one reason, they're not up to standards. They're low quality, unedited jbeam'd most of the time and due to how toxic the BeamNG Community is, they don't release them Publicly because they get hated for their low quality. The RUclips Shorts are THE WORST part of the BeamNG Community, they're cringey, unfunny, sexist, offensive and goofy as fuck. The sound effects and music choices make them so much worse. Sure, kids under 10 would love them but for us older folks it's cringe as fuck. Gavril Scout is a GOOD ASS mod for being Paid, i'd pay over £10 for it simply because I'm British and I require British cars.
With over a thousand hours on beam there are so many things that annoy me. The game is a master piece and as everyone has mentioned. People think it's nothing but a crash physics sim. And it's just not. The handling is amazing. But one thing that really really annoys me. Is Real car mods in general. I personally like all my mods to me in keeping with BeamNG lore.
I get being a bit peeved about the "crash simulator" thing... but reality is that the game is so lacking in gameplay loops that all people really play with is the crashing. I logged hundreds of hours just driving around experimenting with the damage.... mainly because I didnt care about modding vehicles at all since there was no gameplay loops or real interesting missions. Even the new career WIP mode is dull, and needs years of work to get to an enjoyable state.
I totally agree with you. When I'm watching TikTok or just scrolling through RUclips, I sometimes manage to encounter very unfunny videos from people like BeamngPlanet. It is kinda sad what people do just to get famous and rich by doing unfunny videos for little kids.
One complaint I have is the "elitism" I have experienced. For example, in a past update they changed things so driving with a controller with no gearbox assist is terrible. I posted on steam discussions forums about hoe I dislike the change and 80% of the comments were either "it's built for simulation" and "well get a wheel, it's not meant to be played with controller" or even "it's changed in order to be realistic, in real life you don't use a controller". These types of views are so stupid, the entire argument was that because I am on controller it's my fault because the game isn't supposed to be played like that apparently. So dumb
Imo the BeamNG community is one of the better communities in gaming. Sure it has its problems, but there are a lot of seriously talented BeamNG creators out there.
totaly agree with all points. although i think paid mods are alright if they are good quality. it takes a lot of work and knowledge to make this stuff and its fair if people ask for some cash for it.. of course s*itty mods are s*it and you should investigate before you buy as you would with anything else you buy...
real car mods cant be on BeamNG repo. Obviously there are like Bitron B2 (with changed name but very similiar to real one) Like someone already said, look on BeamNG forums

i don't think you should knock people for seeing beamng as a crashing sim. the soft body physics have been it's USP since it's initial release, that is what people are going to see at first glance, and it is a valid way to enjoy the game.
these were exactly the same reasons why i took a break from beamng drive community, not the game it self but few youtubers and members from community slowly getting into again another thing that stopped me from playing beamng drive was my computer stopped working and now that i've switched computers i'm without a gpu and i'm saving up for a new one and i'm really glad i found someone who really thinks like me about this👍
For context, I've broken my toe so it was at a 90 degree angle. The nearest hospital was 40 minutes away, so I had to deal with this for an hour and weeks of pain. That sensation is very little compared to the pain I feel when I watch beamngshorts. Beamngshorts is significantly worse then if i broke all my toes

I know beam ng is a car driving simulator, and I use it for racing sometimes. But when it’s just people using for the physics, it’s wrong. I still crash deliberately, but I still use it for driving.
Me and my freinds will spend hours creating custom configs for street racing or rally racing but the highlight is always when the lead car spins out and we all die in a massive pileup

I agree with MOST of this, however people need to stop picking on modland as it really isn't all bad. I have many virus-free and alright quality mods from modland, you can also find some good updates for older mods on there like exorians challenger and charger.

i started 2 years ago because of muye playing it, first thought it was a car crashing game, now i know its an alpha sim game. it feels like shorts youtubers are ruining it now
I don't even want to download mods from the official site, because I'm afraid of getting a malware. Yes I know I'm paranoid, but I'd rather enjoy the game in it's vanilla state than enjoy it with potentially malware filled mods
My fav thing to do in beam is just to speed around moded maps and run from cops. The longer I’m not crashing the more fun it can be. Even tho it’s a car crash game.
Man I just hate those people who just fuck around on a flat surface like gridmap then add cones in replay. Just seeing those comments saying "youre a god at drifting" and "you deserve more attention" just makes my blood boil. Like, there are plenty of obscure channels out there that have mad driving skills and they dont even peak at a hundred subs🗿
Someone already told me it on polish youtubers discord server. Its propably mostly on RUclips Shorts and TikTok (I dont use tiktok, I sometimes watch Shorts) and have not seen it before making videos, because my YT Shorts recommendations was so good I wasnt even getting BeamNG Shorts in it.
I make detailed, (I think) cinematics, that I spend a lot of time planning, recording (in game with the replay hud and then with OBS), editing, re-editing, and then finally publishing to this platform, just for them to barely surpass 200 veiws. When i see the garbage that litters this community, which takes little to no effort to make, just makes me question how the hell people watch that. then they start showing off shitty low quality mods, and only the physics part of beamng during that video with the tiktok voice as voiceover just add more fuel to the fire, as well as these videos blow up like crazy, as I sit back perfecting a work of art that wont even get noticed. People should be aware that beamng is more than just car go boom; Beamng as a whole is a masterpiece in many ways you can think about. Beamng should be presented as a fun, relaxing, and adventurous open world driving sim, and not just a car hitting a wall at Mach Jesus. Beamng is just like the game Minecraft in a way, where there are infinite wonders and endless possibilities, where there is no limit on what to do in the game, and people only seeing it as one thing just a simple car crash sim, havent looked at the other side of this story. But, this is just my opinion and you are free to agree with me or not, I don't care.

Unheard beam modders posting their first mod AS A PAID MOD, look idc who you are, but if you made your first mod, let the public try it out before you make a paid mod, cause whenever its a paid mod that costs half than the game, you better make it really really good and not just a shitbox

I play beam primarily as a drift game as its the closest to real feel I have tried. It feels pretty similar to Assetto but the added damage really takes the cake. Who doesn't love a good busted taillight and hanging bumper from a wall tap
I totally hate those big shorts creators, legitimate creators like you, BeamBot, 5 Spoke Alloys etc, are all really underrated, and those big and offensive ones get millions upon millions
only thing i dont agree with is the last point, viruses are so avoidable nowadays + if u dont download a exe ur going to be fine 99% of the time, i do infact dont support there being many leaked mods on those sites but theres some people actually releasing their mods there.

For anyone wondering why Private Mods are private, here's one reason, they're not up to standards. They're low quality, unedited jbeam'd most of the time and due to how toxic the BeamNG Community is, they don't release them Publicly because they get hated for their low quality.
The RUclips Shorts are THE WORST part of the BeamNG Community, they're cringey, unfunny, sexist, offensive and goofy as fuck. The sound effects and music choices make them so much worse. Sure, kids under 10 would love them but for us older folks it's cringe as fuck.
Gavril Scout is a GOOD ASS mod for being Paid, i'd pay over £10 for it simply because I'm British and I require British cars.
Car Jump Arena will forever be a BeamNG map that I will look back on and say, "What the fuck where we thinking"
With over a thousand hours on beam there are so many things that annoy me. The game is a master piece and as everyone has mentioned. People think it's nothing but a crash physics sim. And it's just not. The handling is amazing. But one thing that really really annoys me. Is Real car mods in general. I personally like all my mods to me in keeping with BeamNG lore.

I get being a bit peeved about the "crash simulator" thing... but reality is that the game is so lacking in gameplay loops that all people really play with is the crashing. I logged hundreds of hours just driving around experimenting with the damage.... mainly because I didnt care about modding vehicles at all since there was no gameplay loops or real interesting missions. Even the new career WIP mode is dull, and needs years of work to get to an enjoyable state.
the paid real car mods technically fall under copyright infringement so they shouldn't really be a thing in the first place

I totally agree with you. When I'm watching TikTok or just scrolling through RUclips, I sometimes manage to encounter very unfunny videos from people like BeamngPlanet. It is kinda sad what people do just to get famous and rich by doing unfunny videos for little kids.

One complaint I have is the "elitism" I have experienced. For example, in a past update they changed things so driving with a controller with no gearbox assist is terrible. I posted on steam discussions forums about hoe I dislike the change and 80% of the comments were either "it's built for simulation" and "well get a wheel, it's not meant to be played with controller" or even "it's changed in order to be realistic, in real life you don't use a controller". These types of views are so stupid, the entire argument was that because I am on controller it's my fault because the game isn't supposed to be played like that apparently. So dumb

Imo the BeamNG community is one of the better communities in gaming. Sure it has its problems, but there are a lot of seriously talented BeamNG creators out there.

i don't think you should knock people for seeing beamng as a crashing sim. the soft body physics have been it's USP since it's initial release, that is what people are going to see at first glance, and it is a valid way to enjoy the game.
Maybe he encourage people to see and play BeamNG in different way.

these were exactly the same reasons why i took a break from beamng drive community, not the game it self but few youtubers and members from community slowly getting into again another thing that stopped me from playing beamng drive was my computer stopped working and now that i've switched computers i'm without a gpu and i'm saving up for a new one and i'm really glad i found someone who really thinks like me about this👍

For context, I've broken my toe so it was at a 90 degree angle. The nearest hospital was 40 minutes away, so I had to deal with this for an hour and weeks of pain. That sensation is very little compared to the pain I feel when I watch beamngshorts. Beamngshorts is significantly worse then if i broke all my toes

I know beam ng is a car driving simulator, and I use it for racing sometimes. But when it’s just people using for the physics, it’s wrong. I still crash deliberately, but I still use it for driving.

I agree with MOST of this, however people need to stop picking on modland as it really isn't all bad. I have many virus-free and alright quality mods from modland, you can also find some good updates for older mods on there like exorians challenger and charger.

The mods have to be approved to even get on the repo,its rare for any mod on there to contain a virus,let alone one that will get approved.
My fav thing to do in beam is just to speed around moded maps and run from cops. The longer I’m not crashing the more fun it can be. Even tho it’s a car crash game.

I make detailed, (I think) cinematics, that I spend a lot of time planning, recording (in game with the replay hud and then with OBS), editing, re-editing, and then finally publishing to this platform, just for them to barely surpass 200 veiws. When i see the garbage that litters this community, which takes little to no effort to make, just makes me question how the hell people watch that. then they start showing off shitty low quality mods, and only the physics part of beamng during that video with the tiktok voice as voiceover just add more fuel to the fire, as well as these videos blow up like crazy, as I sit back perfecting a work of art that wont even get noticed. People should be aware that beamng is more than just car go boom; Beamng as a whole is a masterpiece in many ways you can think about. Beamng should be presented as a fun, relaxing, and adventurous open world driving sim, and not just a car hitting a wall at Mach Jesus. Beamng is just like the game Minecraft in a way, where there are infinite wonders and endless possibilities, where there is no limit on what to do in the game, and people only seeing it as one thing just a simple car crash sim, havent looked at the other side of this story. But, this is just my opinion and you are free to agree with me or not, I don't care.

I play beam primarily as a drift game as its the closest to real feel I have tried. It feels pretty similar to Assetto but the added damage really takes the cake. Who doesn't love a good busted taillight and hanging bumper from a wall tap
