Spoiler: Maxter's rails on Awoken were incredible. You could feel that throughout the 3 maps Maxter's rail were making rapha question his moves. Weird matches.
@@MAGIC-iz6oh I found some rail angles and rail to rail to rail frags quite funny. Maxter did some very creative rail angles and hit them. That was making the game stand out from the usual, and again with such good crafting with the angles. It also felt like clown world at time when seeing rapha drop on the rail etc, with back to back to back rail frags, quite unusual for rapha. yeah weird but enjoyed them 100%.
Ever since I first saw Maxter play, he instantly become one of my favourites. I have to praise his defensive play on Awoken. His defense was not about staying clear. This was very proactive and aggressive defense - he did not seek resources, but rather he looked for damage. He used choke points, doubled back for another peek and another rail when least expected and on some occasins, when he finally had no option to run away - he didn't fight just to sell his skin dearly in terms of damage - more so he was making Rapha pay with a lot of time for these frags by dragging the fight. These extra few seconds made big difference in terms of next major but also minor item respawn. Rapha could not simply chase him off the spawn, because he had to secure major items or Maxter would get one of them. And his use of ghostwalk for unreturned burst damage was very nice - Rapha just picked major items, had stack advantage and now it's gone. Maybe Maxter doesn't have ghostwalk, but stacks are even, so what do you do? Engage and risk loosing a fight? Or maybe play safer - wait for next round of major items, but in the meantime he will get his ghostwalk back up and do the same again :) His defense was just about "denying offensive". Loved that stuff. But most of all - his response in chat at the end - he acknowledged Rapha's technical issues rather than bragging about his railgun which was also an important contribution to this result.
I like watching with comments, but agree, good sounds are adding some context to the game. I personally found out that Rapha completely missed with sounds twice on Awoken and lost Maxter on the map.
@@mushroomx85 Which also happens in game (you see other players fire the Gattling Rail Gun, both humans and bots, so it doesn't depend on ping). It's not a spectator glitch. It's a feature of spectator mode to be able to see it in first person :)
Maxter feels like Rapha's boogyman tbh always has his number. No matter how good a player is there's always someone who just has a style that seems to counter it.
Rapha is a bad loser. In his head, he believes the only way he can lose is if there is something wrong with the game, server etc. He cant accept that he got heavily out aimed and outplayed in these games. Just because your the GOAT of quake, don't think your invincible. Give Maxter the credit he deserves for his amazing gameplay, he won this game fair and square.
@@yutro213 I have huge respect for Rapha, he plays quake how it should be played - great positioning, timing, decision making, weapon choice etc, instead of relying on aim to win games and trying to hit every rail. Although I understand his frustrations with the game, i'm tired of him blaming every death or loss on the game. Rapha always had an air of arrogance about him, You'll rarely hear Rapha praise an opponent, he'll more likely say that it was a dumb play which is disrespectful to his opponents.
imo it seems like a common symptom of long time high level players of skill based games, where they begin seeing wins as something that should be a baseline result from themselves so losses tilt them that much harder.
Maxter очень круто сыграл, но тут ещё похоже, что что-то с сервером - не было такого, чтоб Rapha настолько мазал из рельсы. Если б рельса шла, он мог бы выиграть.

I know some people like hearing the game sounds, but I really miss the commentary. It makes the matches feel more vibrant and meaningful. I hope you all appreciate how great the group of commentators are.
closer angle is rocket to bridge, no sound there means rapha is either taking long angle + since he just re spawned rapha wants rail, so rapha either at rail or collecting armor and weapons at the other side of the map, only angle max has to look for is rail side if he doesn't hear anything, also he just straight up saw minor highlighted pixels of rapha through the top part of middle arch near rail
At 28:28 did rapha's LG look way off to anyone else? I'd really like to see that from rapha's POV because I'd imagine he was moving his reticle back and forth between maxter's kneecaps, but from maxter's POV it looked to be flailing at a much greater range than I'd expect, like the LG coordinates were being inputted one way and outputted another. Also, if you play back at .25 speed, at 28:29 you can see when rapha's LG beam first appears it's very far off the mark to maxter's left, which makes me wonder if rapha was seeing a delayed representation of maxter's true position. I'm just asking here, and not trying to make any accusations about lag/netcode or whatever. It just seemed very off to me. I'm also not making excuses for rapha - this is strictly a technical question about the game.
There is a pretty significant disparity between what any player sees on their screen and what the server says happened, more so with QC than other games in the series. The disparity grows with difference in pings. I remember a particularly bad example of it in another Maxter game vs. Raisy on Blood Cov - Maxter jumping from rail side high ground towards bridge was able to hit a shot where Raisy was clearly on his screen on the stream for something that can't have been too far from a whole second. Played back from Raisy's perspective, Raisy got shot through the wall before Maxter had even appeared around the corner. Client-sided netcode for ya! It's a double-edged sword though, you can't have good quality games from across the world without it. The old style of netcode would involve having to lead shots even with hitscan weaponry, or having to wait for projectiles to spawn on your screen after you've clicked the button to fire them. All that said, Rapha is really quick to complain about the netcode and performance of QC in general. A lot of the times it seems justified. Other times, maybe not so much. Either way, Maxter sure looks like he has Rapha's number.
@@MrJuico1337 I always give rapha the benefit of the doubt because I watch him a lot and have seen some really weird things happen to him. Here's a good example: ruclips.net/video/uOvMnIRt3IM/видео.html At 47:02 he gets fragged before spart1e is even visible (play it at .25 speed). But yeah, all things considered, what we have today is pretty good compared to my days of playing Quake 2 on dial up.
Map 1 is tense, with a double-sided comeback and some interesting dodges, in addition to some good countermoves. Rapha's calculated drop for the light is fascinating. In the contrary, however, Maxter being able to exploit rapha's decision-making in such situations well proves his game plan makes rapha headache. Map 2 Max's nyx play is tremendous, that mind-blowing wall jump in 18:19 along with some of the ghost walk moves show how good nyx is being utilized. However, imo, some of max's "stay, shot then leave" ghost walk strategies are taking advantage of rapha's aiming performance in this match. I'm not saying max is disrespect towards rapha, but I do wonder if it's a move that can make such effect and do free rails, why we seldom see other players use this move?
Strange feeling... With all respect to Maxter - and he is a great player by all means, but it felt like Rapha lagged or something. about 20% rails, or so it seems.
